These are just a hand full of my culture shocks which I genuinely experienced when I first came over to live in the UK 19 years ago. These are in no way meant to offend anybody whether your English or Russian. I hope you find it interesting and if you like it then I’d be more than happy to do more as I can think of so many more !

How utterly refreshing to hear that there are differences and not that things are better in one place than in another. Thank you, Ka Pre. You are a real Sweetie.

The houses being the same, namely terrace housing were often built for factory workers during the first and second industrial revolutions. They were built uniformly, where you see a slight difference is where they added extra houses on as they got more and more workers. Most of these houses are so well built they are perfectly suitable for modern day usage if not a little on the small side. There are so many differences between the U.K. and elsewhere such as plugs and power sockets, how a house is wired, why light switches for bathrooms are on the outside of the door or on a pull cord on the inside of the bathroom, etc... A very belated welcome to the U.K.

Hi Sven, that definitely makes sense. Thank you. I’ve never seen anything like it before, but I see why they did them like that. Thank you for watching :-)

Nice video. Interesting to have a different perspective to the many Americans doing "culture shock" vids while living in the UK.

Hi, thank you very much. I agree with you. There are a lot of videos about culture shocks that are really just about London and the very obvious things like the tube and the crowds , but as I’ve been here a long time I feel like I can talk about something a little more in-depth. Thank you for watching my videos

Thank you for posting , it is always interesting to hear how others see us . I wish you well and hope that you like living here and enjoy it . I have only been to Russia on holiday and seen very little of it . Russia been such a huge country . But I was surprised how kind and friendly every one was !

Hi, thank you very much. I am enjoying living here, it’s a very pretty country especially when the weather is nice. I love the lake district the most, I think. Where abouts in Russia did you go? You’re right, it is huge and beautiful and varied. I hear that a lot - where people are quite surprised how nice Russian people are , but I think it’s just because of how we are portrayed in the media and all the movies. Thank you for watching my videos

@@kapre4304 I apologise for taking so late in replying . I have only this minute seen your message . I flew to Mosco from London . Spent a few days there then took a ferry ( ship ?) to Saint Petersburg which took about a week . Stopping at cities and small towns on the way there . Although my Russian is very limited . I was so surprised when people in small villages invited me into their homes . They were so hospitable , this memory will stay with me for the rest of my life !

40 years ago I lived in a "flat" in Cascades, Croydon, London. They were similar to that shown at 8:11, on one level, nobody above or below, just to the sides, but with no front garden - just a balcony. At the back was a parking space.

Must only pick you up on the houses point... There are small or large terraces as per your picture, but there are millions of detached houses that are built as owners desire with land. You have to go further into the suburbs and also into the country towns and surrounding areas. Terraces are inner urbanised areas, detached are the outer suburbs. Most people never get to see them though as they would have to go to such areas because they live there or for a specific reason... it is how many British people live and aren't tourist spots. Virginia water, Surrey, Sussex, Cheshire, North Yorkshire etc.

The swimming pools in uk are controlled with a circulation system which constantly adds or subtracts the disinfectant ratios to ensure most types of skin infections are not transferable , although the public are expected to not attend if this is the case. The black filling issue was a poor dentist service , you should always be told and given the options at every dentist without question. The housing permission system and housing builds are entirely run by money influence, with all sorts of justification to tell you otherwise and cover up the reality. That is why the houses are so small more money to be made for a smaller living area.

for about two hundred years most workers housing was built by companies or local authorities all to one plan even now developers my only use a few floor plans to provide a mix of housing

Amalgam fillings are more durable, thought you could get white fillings on the NHS where they're conspicuous i.e. front teeth.
@kapre4304
@kapre4304 4 года назад
Hillary Trump Hi, yes those fillings are more durable , that’s for sure - I did mention it in the video, but for me personally I really don’t like the way they look, that’s why I’m slowly changing them to the white ones - one by one. Hhm I’ve never been told by my dentist that I could get any white fillings for free.. hhhm I don’t know . May be mine are not so close to the front . Mine are starting from the fourth tooth in. You can’t see them unless I lough. Thank you for watching

Ross Stratford-Cavendish hi, yes, I can’t really explain it either and I really hope that the country will become more accepting soon. I have a lot of conversations with friends and family about the topic when I go back and try to explain why it’s completely normal and tell them that I have lots of friends who are gay and lesbian and they are some of the best people I know, but it’s hard to get through sometimes. I think it’s the general culture and how media and everyone portrays it. Thank you for watching Ross

@@kapre4304 Obesity in the U.S. is out of control and unfortunately is getting worse by the year in the U.K. The first time I saw a really obese person was in the U.S. way back in the late 1970's, I couldn't believe my eyes but now you see this kind everywhere in the U.S. and the U.K. I've no sympathy for these people if they suffer health problems because mostly it's self created by greed, very few have genetically inflicted problems.

This is fascinating. I'd hate to have to ask for a doctors certificate every time I swim, which is often and usually on a whim now I'm retired, but I can see the attraction. Are Russian pools kept clean with salt like the US or chlorine like the UK? How regular are the backwashes? Do the daily laboratory tests ever come back with poor results despite the doctors certificates?
