Moving into a new country can be daring because one never knows what to to expect. In this we share some of our experiences, culture shocks as South Sudanese students living in Nairobi, Kenya.
Much love from you ,but as a kenyan ill tell you one fact, dont judge kenyans based on Nairobi experience, you'll be mistaken ..one thing about nairobi is people aint that friendly not by choice but by circumstance coz people tend to mind their own business..right now even if my neighbour is being killed in his or her house ill be minding my business, not because i dont care but because ive never seen them ,thats the culture in nairobi...if you want to make real friends with kenyans go outside nairobi especially to the coast ,you'll make a plethora of friends in an hour than youve made in your entire life..i love you guys
That's a big fat lie, never been to the coast but the friends I've made in Nairobi just make my days, I never lack with them around. Been in Kenya 3 years now.
@@ginachacha7627 he/she is actually misleading them that's a misconception about Nairobi considering Nairobi is a very popular destination for so many people.
South Sudanese are known to come to Kenya and act all important and above Kenyans and limit their interactions with locals. That is why you are probably getting the cold reception/treatment as well. You need to be respectful and mingle with locals better and realize you cannot bulldoze Kenyans in their country.
True. Visitors from other African countries like Uganda, Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa etc are always in awe of Kenyans' friendliness. In fact it looks like Kenya is a dream destination for most RU-vidrs, they love it here.
Our ugali is different coz its kenyan ugali😁😁and it's okay if u don't like it but don't make it seem like we are cooking it the wrong way😃..these differences are what makes us unique as countries. Also noticed the lady sitted infront of the gentleman didn't get to say anything. Otherwise great content and best of luck ladies😄😄
Right!!!! Ata kama amelike comments zingine akawacha hii.....you are very right.....she made it sound like we dont know how to cook ugali....any other thing but tough ugali is porridge
West Africans need to hear that too. We do not care about their overspiced oily food. We have our food culture and they have no place dissing it thinking their food is the best. We have our way if life and doing things. While it is ok to speak about differences, it is VERY RUDE to talk down how people do things as if yours is the only best way to do it.
What is this behaviour of fellow Kenyans begging foreigners to associate with them. It is honestly embarrassing. Stop this docility, if they want to associate with their own, give them the middle finger
I love ❤ my country Kenya 🇰🇪....we are peaceful ✌ friendly...welcoming and on the right trajectory. We are trailblazers...we lead and others follow. God bless Kenya, God bless the people of Kenya. Shine your light wherever you are, whether in Kenya or abroad.
This is the first people av seen complaining about Kenya that much. I have lived in Kenya with my family 3 years now so peaceful and friendly. My friends from new York, Ghana and Egypt wanna live in Kenya too coz their experience they say was perfect
Tell the lady in the middle to never cross Thika road like that again, it's extremely dangerous. Better to walk to the footbridge no matter how far it is rather than risk getting hit on the highway.
This video makes me happy.S.Sudan is dear to my heart.Karibu Nairobi.Just harmless advice... please refrain from giving information about your location/residence while vloging.,unless you are talking of public places, not your own residence. This is for your safety.Happy vloging!
First, the crossing of roads on places that are not designated for crossing is dangerous, you can die or arrested. Just avoid remember some roads are highways. When a conductor wants you to alight on an area that is not a bus stop just refuse and alight on the next bus stop then go back. Again a lot of negatives. Please learn to always first focus on the positive that way you can learn a lot. Nairobi is a city that can make you grow a lot if you chose to learn. After leaving Nairobi you will be stronger and better
welcome guys ,great content here just make sure everyone contributes .I lived in Juba for one year and was impressed ,a country so much blessed with people and opportunities .Ensure to network and make friends during your stay .
Kenya has become heaven for almost every African country, the rate at which Nigerians, Ghanaians, Cameroonians, rwandese, somalis, Ethiopians, ugandans, Burundians, s. sudanese and Congolese are flocking in, you may equate it to an invasion I don't care for those who will perceive me as a xenophobe but this if not well checked it's getting out of hands. if you're schooling then it's ok just but a reminder when you are done with your studies then go back to your country and help build it. don't encroach on simple hustle that Kenyans can do.
Please allow me to call you Nubians Queens and the Nubian King. Please? You are beautiful and handsome and exude so much confidence and your vibes are top. For you it may be just a video about "South Sudanese students living in Nairobi, Kenya" But to me you are South Sudanese ambassadors. Honestly many people, including me, may not know your ambassador in Nairobi, but they see you and now know you. You are the face of SS. I love your music. Well done and keep up. Keep creating content and improve your audio. Tell us interesting things about SS that many Kenyans may not know.
Learn as much as you can take what is good and use it to build a better East Africa. We would be proud of you guys if you make your country better also. Stronger together
Currently I am in south Sudan, of cause your ugali is the best,, I like it with kaimot(groundnuts paste),,but my country kenya is the best in everything,,
You are all beautiful. Sorry for some bad experiences that you have experienced in Nairobi. There is a famous phrase that goes ` Nairobi shamba la mawe`😜😜😜.You will get used to it. Karibuni sana Kenya.
The title of avideo should be things we hate about kenya 🙂🙂🙂🙂... Culture shocks should not be negative about acountry though. Hope sudan is angel country 💯💯
Stop talking Ill about Kenya if you want your channel to grow or else you won't like it my friends ... If your country is better then go back .it's not hate but am telling the truth ...do your research .... I love my country ❤️ Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪
Nice video! For the LGBTQ part I noticed that Kenyans are comfortable showcasing their sexuality in bougie or upscale places in Nairobi IE Lavinghton, westlands etc… they would never act like that in Kawangware or else they will face mob justice. Nairobi is more westernized and liberal compared to other towns and cities in Kenya.
As Kenyans we have welcomes so many refugees and they have found peace in our nation but you South Sudanese, when you got your independence you started coming against Kenyans that were working there. You are heartless. What if we refused you entry into our precious nation. Respect our nation.
You guys are talking all at once at the same time I think if you talk like one person at a time it will be more interesting And easy to understand you guys 😊, I love you
Y'all are beautiful ❤️..loved the video and all you said was true especially living in Nairobi..its happens even to Kenyans coming upcountry to live in the city.
@@diingkuir5903 this might be true but why laugh about it? Like what's funny about that in the beginning? That's why I said the expressions they give kind of brings out negativity. Kwanza the one seated down-right
interesting watch. quite insightful to see Nairobi through your eyes, also the comparison between Juba and kanairo. do you guys see yourselves staying after your studies?
I grew up in nairobi, but currently staying in Johannesburg. I would agree that the Kenyan taxi drivers are dishonest, and always in a hurry. In Joburg, and most of South Africa, you can trust taxi drivers for direction and help. But just remember to great and talk with respect. These bloggers are so honest and cool.
Kalenjins Luos and Sudanese people are brothers if you go back a few hundred years. They just separated at some point and interacted with different tribes.
@@gamalsankara1388 I hope they are not son and daughter of politian who thrive in war so that thier family live and thrive in Kenya at the expense of Sudanese sweat and blood
Happy to watch your channel ,one challenge with you guys, you don't like associating with the locals, you love your own company but you're wise.Things in Kenya esp Nairobi is in rush that's why Matatus are always rushing to make profit
But its something about sudans people. South sudanese or sudanese they isolate themselves while living here. Even if you want to be their friends youll be shocked they are not open to it! I dnt know if its something abt living onnl theirbl own like indians do bt level of interaction is not that much. And they are nt friendly too... Actually in zimmerman got to apoint that sudanese would grab phones at night or early in the mrngs
True Faith what you observed.....wait until you go to that Sudanese Country....they are the most unfriendly Africans. They come to Kenya because of our Education Standard which is way high above theirs and they also capitalise on the very hospitable Kenyans.
@@lucygithu7679 😂😂😂too funny It might even turn out ur just within kenya and trying to talk shit😂 Have you met all Africans in your life ?? Girl behaveeeeee
@Angeline. ...see her Sudanese response. ...that's exactly what I meant. They are mean, quick to temper and very unacommodating....sis I have travelled widely and for sure South Sudanese are unhospitable Africans. Kenyans what do you think?
You just decided to sit before a camera to speak ill about Kenya? Hata kama ni culture shock, eish! I wanna go to your country to confirm all the angels there! Wah! The lady in grey sweater ..girl?? Really?? 🙄
Well Kenya compared to juba men 100% I live in Kenya my first impression with my country Sudan we have war corruption top notch than Kenya our tiny city in so dirty and filthy and high crime poverty on high level come on people Kenya is most develop than juba that's why Kenyan see us like we nothing and about this video your are in a foreign country if you see something is wrong with Kenyans get back in your country ...🇸🇸 Much love from Sudan
We love our ugali the way it's hard and please respect our culture. And remember crime is not part of our culture, that is for you and your taxi driver alongside with matatus that left you off roads
I love Sudanese ladies. However, I wonder why Sudanese people do not like to mingle with locals here in Kenya 🇰🇪, Sudanese are like Indians always in the company of their own unlike Nigerians who are quite out going.
Hello my fellow Africans, welcome to my country Kenya, although,it's not a perfect place as you expected, but remember, when you visit a foreign country,be a guest always, and appreciate the differences, and try to adopt to the culture,if not, just leave for good, because this is Kenya, nobody forced you be here in the first place .I mean well, cheers and enjoy the amazing experiences in kenya.try to put up ,if not, just leave, period.
You really have to look it from our perspective we are a country with no minerals the government just has to tax us crazily to do development so that's the reason we are hustling like crazy because it's impossible to survive any other way so we find ourselves taking advantage of situations
Kenyans are tired of hosting the entire Africa in Nairobi. Sudanese, Somalis, Ethiopians, Rwandans, Congolese, Nigerians..etc Fix your countries, we have our own problems.
Who died and gave you the title deed to Kenya? Everyone is welcome here! The country does not belong to you, Mr. man. Don't forget the millions of Kenyans either living or studying in countries other than their own. Nonsense! If you have nothing good to say, I suggest you keep your bitter opinions to yourself!
Do not comper sudanes food with Kenya food coz that hard Ugali makes us strong and beutyful ,for Sudan is slippery like.... combo ,kudhura weka and they are all yucky,so guys learn how to apriciat.or I can tell you everything that you want to hear that is from south Sudan.cheza pole pole dada
