Retention is 20. You may hook into a fish that is tagged, you should let it go because it's used to monitor the migration pattern at Cultus Lake. Those tags are expensive and shouldn't be wasted. @@michaelfarrow6718 The 2019-2021 regulations still state 20 for region 2. www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/sports-recreation-arts-and-culture/outdoor-recreation/fishing-and-hunting/freshwater-fishing/fishing_synopsis.pdf Also, the most current notice for Cultus Lake Smallmouth still indicate that you should follow the Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis, the link I posted above. www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/sports-recreation-arts-and-culture/outdoor-recreation/fishing-and-hunting/freshwater-fishing/region_2_cultus_lake_bass_june_2020_update.pdf
Hi Ryan, thanks for sharing. I am looking to purchase an inflatable kayak for fishing and crabbing. Would you recommend an entry level inflatable kayak under $500? Cheers.
Try using a jerk bait. The 2 that have been the most productive for me have been the Megabass Vision 110 and the Lucky Craft Pointer SP. Both have shallow to deep diving models, so you can cover a large water column (5' to 15'). They have a wide variety of colors so your best option is to try and match the bait fish that the bass are feeding on. In the spring, summer, fall when smallies tend to hit topwater baits try using a swim bait. My favorites are the Sebille Magic Swimmer 125 slow sink and the Mike Bucca Bull Shad; again match the colors to the fish the bass are feeding on. When bass are feeding up in the water column both these baits have been magic for me. Tight lines🤙
Cool tip for fishing a popper with a spinning Rod .... Tighten the drag down tighter than usual for the initial strike and loosen after you've set the hook 👍
I haven't caught any smallmouth there yet but tons of pikeminnow. It definitely doesn't take long to kayak the perimeter i did the full round trip this past summer and look forward to doing it again. Especially knowing top water works there lol. Great video
Hi friends, I am searching for a twitching jig, almost whole black silhouette and a small flashy blade at the tail, around 10-15 gr 3/8 to 1/2 oz. 7cm long, 3 inches. any idea? brand name, tackle store maybe around metro Vancouver Abbotsford? thanks so much in advance.
Fred's Tackle in Chilliwack or Abbotsford are probably the best places to find really specific setups like that. I mostly create my own by combing things that are sold separately
The official DFO site says we shouldn't return it to the water if you think it's invasive. It is invasive, there is a limit of 20. But if there is a tagged fish you catch, please return it to the water. Biologists are using those tagged fish to study migration of Cultus Lake Smallmouth. Nope, it’s super understandable. Good to know someone is caring about the fish. But, there wasn’t any trout caught in the video. Only smallmouth bass which is invasive and cannot be released or Northern Pikeminnow which has an annual derby to remove a percentage of population. You can lip a Northern Pikeminnow.
