Hi Jack. Yes doesn’t it look and sound well! I would say it’s got a good few years worth of work in it yet, definitely pays to look after your machinery.Apologies for the late reply, been very busy at work and out filming these last few days but thanks once again for watching and your comment. Always appreciated. Cheers, Dave.
Thanks once again Stuart, pleased you enjoyed it. Yeh I thought I would just give a little taste of what’s coming up in the next video and what better than a Quick-detach (un)cabbed 390! It’s a lovely setup on this farm, a couple of more modern Masseys and loads of classics! Cheers, David.
Thank you. Yes the machinery has always been well looked after by the owners of this farm. Always a pleasure to see it at work every time I visit. Cheers, David.
Many thanks once again, very kind of you. Yes the JF is in lovely and original condition and as you say sounds fantastic. I would think it will easily see 30 seasons all down to careful ownership. Cheers, David.
Many thanks Jonny, thats so much appreciated and makes it all worthwhile. Just try to keep them interesting and there’s a few more to come yet. Hopefully will get to film some harvest activity this next week. Cheers, David.
Hi Clive. Yeh sharp blades, plenty of grease and well matched to the tractor output = happy forager! Over the years the JF’s more than paid for itself and still very reliable and pretty cheap to run. Ha, yes you would feel ready for your kip after a day on the 390, no nice luxury cab here, proper air-con as they used to call it. Very little headroom in the silage shed so no chance of a modern tractor working inside but as it’s only one cut and all gathered in 2-3 days it’s not so much of a hardship! Many thanks for watching and your comment Clive, much appreciated. Cheers, Dave.
Hi KH. MF with has 140hp engine power copes easily with the JF, it has two 2.4mtr swaths rowed into one by a haybob 380. 100hp would be more than sufficient to drive this forage harvester, I know of a couple of farmers using this power to drive similar machines. Its an JF FCT 850, bought brand new in 1995, one owner and never been any trouble. Hope this helps? Cheers David.
@@davidwinthrop7077Thanks for the information. I am a farmer from Poland and I am looking for information and machines like this forage harvester. I would like to buy such a machine. I found a new one, it's Kongskilde, same as JF. I don't know if there are any other companies that make such cutters. They used to be Lely, but now it's taken over by ACCO.
@@kh-ss7dc You’re correct in Kongskilde taking over the JF brand and I don’t think Lely build trailed harvesters now though they were a good machine. Hopefully you’ll find what you’re looking for, the reliability on this one has been excellent, 27 seasons and still going strong. Cheers, David
Hi Jacob. As long as I can remember (and that’s a lot of years) they’ve always towed the trailer behind the forager here. Just a 3-man team so no choice but it’s a relatively short lead, sometimes 3 trailers and the chopper’s never kept waiting so the system obviously works well. Thanks for watching and your comment again my friend. Cheers, David.
Ah that makes sense David, here they all seem to do reasonably decent draws and have two or three trailers keeping the forager going, the reverse drive forager we have here is quite a sight!
@@jacooboophotography Yes lots of trailers needed with the output of today’s foragers Jacob even on a fairly short lead. Absolutely love that Fendt and the reverse drive Mengele. What an outfit and something you definitely won’t see everyday.
@@johndavison7441 I do John but not had a chance to get out so far this year as I’ve either been at work when it’s sunny or it’s been raining when I’ve been off! Missed out on a few nice machines this year but hopeful I’ll catch up with some spring barley harvest. There’s a couple of videos on from last year, don’t know if you’ve seen them yet?
@@johndavison7441 That’s great John. Just had a couple of messages from local farmer’s that they will hopefully be harvesting this next week so fingers crossed I’ll be out there with the camera.
Hi Richard. They were a great machine, very stable on the hills as the trailer was hitched directly to the foraging tractor. Would love to see a side-mount JF working but possibly not that many about now. Thanks for the watch and great comment, much appreciated. Cheers, David.
