I think you'll find that's actually quite a popular idea on the Right. And I don't agree with it, but I can see their point. It's become so vague that it hamstrings our own legal system. So we end up with utter absurdities (like being obliged to give asylum to convicted sex offenders because they spuriously claim to have converted to Christianity).
@tempejkl
@tempejkl Месяц назад
I mean, that’s what you would’ve thought about the Tories. They promised to do that in order to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda (Hitler had the same plans to deport Jews to the West, then blamed the Holocaust on them not taking any in (despite the USSR and Poland having very large Jewish populations, larger than Germany). Same thing with UK trying to send them to France, who takes in far more migrants than they do, and with them literally using them as an irregular warfare method against Ireland.

As a EU citizen, I find the idea of not having a Breturn referendum until 2040 refreshingly realistic. Before it can even remotely hope to be welcomed back in the EU, UK needs to clean up the huge governance mess that led to the current state of affairs. This will take decades. Of course, some of Cummings’s other proposals (such as withdrawing from the Council of Europe) would bar UK from ever applying.
@thetreelander7378

to be honest, the government is probably this kind of mess because the we were in the EU, and the EU softened a lot of the brain dead rat behaviour that did damage to my country. of course now they can't hide behind the EU technocracy and now they are spotlighted for all to see.

I am not a British citizen but I am truly amazed at how the Tories could have destroyed this much for themselves and the UK as a whole. I am aware that Brexit is seen as the start of issues for many (although if you ask me, austerity measures ruined it earlier). Is this merely and purely due to incompetence, short-sighted self-enrichment or a general lack of what is going on?
