Must admit we weren’t sure what to pack for going ashore. I was thinking the weather in Norway would be like the UK when it rains so I packed jeans, hoodies and T-shirts for the day. The weather turned out much better than expected! For the evenings, I went out and bought new dresses for each night as I was worried there might be people thinking oh I saw her in that on the first night and if friends saw my pics they’d be thinking she wore that last year. I love the whole dressing up in the evenings. I did pack far too much but I was taking full advantage of no baggage restrictions! 😂
Taking a cruise from and back to Southampton has that massive benefit of you can take as much baggage as you wanted. We took three cases with us on this cruise, and in truth didn't wear quite a lot of it, because as you said, the weather was much nicer that we were expecting too. Linzi & Mark
We're going to Norway in July. First time with Cunard. So concerned about what to pack. Not just for Norway but for the ship evenings! Your videos are so helpful!
Absolutely felt your packing pain! If only we could wave a magic wand over the case and be done with it. When dress shopping for our cruise, I think I'll focus on ones with sleeves! 🥶I love your red dress with the cape! 306 days until QM2 for us!
Thank you Kris, the only good thing about packing is that you are going on holiday 🤣 Ooo only 305 days now, as we were very slow responding to your comment :) Linzi & Mark
Love all your clips. Retiring next year so wife & I doing our 1st Mediterranean cruise on the Queen Vic. Your travel logs have been invaluable. Told my Mrs 'I think she's gorgeous, I hope they're on our cruise'!!!! Spoiled her by booking a Princess suite. Thanks for everything you've reported.
Thank you so much Alan, we are so pleased you have enjoyed our stuff. We've yet to get on Queen Vic, but it is very much on our to do list! You are going to have such an amazing time on Cunard, and Princess Grills will be very special. Let us know how you get on. Have a lovely day, Linzi & Mark
Hoping that you can help us out next year with tips on what to pack for a longer cruises! It was as whole new experience packing for a cruise. I’ve never had to pack a posh frock or masquerade mask before! xx
Thank you so much for this video. My mother and I are on the Queen Mary 2 for the first time next week, transatlantic followed by a week in Norway. We are so stressed over our packing! 😂 do you think it's necessary to bring very many warm, heavy items? Would one rain jacket and one sweater suffice?
You are very welcome. And definitely don't stress. Yes one swearer and a rain jacket will be absolutely fine. Only place it gets a bit colder is at the top of the mountains/glaciers such as at Olden but everywhere else that will be fine at this time of year. Have an amazing time. Linzi and Mark
Thank you so much :) Where are you going on QM2 in June? If it is Europe/Fjords, then it's likely to be around 15-20C, if you are doing the Transatlantic then generally similar but can actually end up warmer than that on occasion too.
I am on Queen Elizabeth in January we cruise to Queensland from Sydney and it will hot and humid so I am thinking long patio dresses for the gala nights so different to cruising from the UK
A very different cruise to sailing out of the UK to the Fjords Diana. That sort of dress would be perfect, although bear in mind, they might crank the air con up even more, so inside could be quite chilly, so maybe take a shawl just in case. Linzi & Mark
We were on the cruise for seven nights, but away for eight (stay over night before). We had Seven different evening outfits, and a few different ones for day time that we could layer up if needed
@@SuiteNatured I’m going for 56 nights Four different Cunard ships, between 7 and 20 nights , Alaska and polar regions, very excited but nervous as well because I’m on my own
WOW. You are going to have the most amazing time Linda, and don't be nervous, there are a lot of solo travellers on Cunard, and QM2 in particular, so you will meet other people really quickly and have a fantastic series of cruises. Please let us know how you get on (You can share in our Facebook group if. you like).
We took three Linda, but only because we were going from Southampton and driving to the port, rather than having to fly. We could have fitted everything in two, but squashed up, and we didn't fancy ironing the formal wear :)
You don't need a suit, just a jacket to go with some trousers or chino type on an evening, and maybe a tie for formal night, you do not need a Tuxedo, may 30% wear them.
@@SuiteNaturedI only have one tie, and thats reserved for funerals. lol. Does a harrington jacket count as a jacket? Wife is still perplexed that I am buying a pair of red dr martens at some point this year. Went to a shanty folk band gig, and they wore them, and I thought they would go down well on my next cruise. Wife thinks I have lost the plot. Great reply.
Karen always likes a coat to cover her bum - i dont get involved in packing - i chuck it all on the bed and leave 😂 This has not helped convince Karen on Cunard - stressful packing list 😂
he he he. It's not a stressful packing list, just thinking about a couple of formal nights a little bit more. You need to get on Cunard Stuart & Karen 😂
