Yeah what's up with that lmao. The LB would make a pass up the seam but not follow up with the run (because why would he in that situation) and the coach starts yelling at him "you wanna earn it or not? I got other defenders here that will replace you!" like wtf kind of "tough love" is that? It isn't even constructive. I'm pretty sure it was the Vaughn coach.

@@xAzKoaL - I absolutely hate that coach. Worst youth coach by far I have seen on this channel. Congrats on your championship...hope he can read this. Gladly will help coach you in how to coach better.

I mean you gotta book players no matter if it is a youth game or not. He missed a couple of bookings but thought he did okay with letting them play and the challenges but he missed like three yellow cards and one red card.

probably knows more than you. Please look into your local refereeing district courses, they are very affordable these days as there is a lack of referees everywhere!

Spot on. Just because he got the ball it doesn't admonish him from the dangerous act of studs up. It's a foul in any game anywhere in the world.

@@JT-wu2if Sorry mate, but you're 100% incorrect. Just because he got the ball doesn't mean a studs up challenge isn't a foul. Any dangerous play should be a foul, regardless of getting the ball before contacting the player.

Referee assessor here: 3:48 is correct. Good no call from the ref 12:50 -- YC for USB-Reckless. The only thing that keeps White 3 on the field is he did get the ball and not the player. If it was no ball, would absolutely agree with red for SFP here. 22:25 -- A YC for SPA is required here, especially with the temperature of the game rising. 25:42 -- YC downgrade from a RC for DOGSO is appropriate. Keeper did make an attempt to play the ball, was late with his challenge. Not near enough force for SFP. 28:40 -- Should be a PK and YC for DOGSO downgrade from RC. Foul is right on the line of the penalty area which makes it a PK. AR was right and would have been in position to make the call as the ref got caught out...he should have got on his horse much sooner. Wrong decision was reached, but the right application of the law was eventually upheld on advice of the 4th. 32:25 -- PK and RC for SFP. Ref was in a terrible spot though and wouldn't have been able to see the studs on back of foot. I don't think the ref did poorly, but needs to work on positioning and anticipating the play for sure.

There was actually no contact on the ball by the defender, the attacker who was brought down caused the ball to travel in the direction it did. PK YC is the correct decision.

Yes the black player was off balance and likely would have lost all possession, but the hand on the shoulder would be my call. The white player was ensuring the player going down would stay down. No, it isn’t the strongest call, but a legit call nonetheless.

@@andrewsmith9174After rewatching it and slowing it down, it doesn't look like the white player even touched him with the arm. Even if there was a slight brush, the black player is already falling.

@@grumpyref, as a referee (just did a game today) myself, I’m not going to slow it down and make that level of critique. It’s not available in the moment. I made my comment based on what was seen in “real time” and by the camera angle we have. Just accept it. Not game is perfect at any level. The young ref did a good job. I would have straight tossed the coach for his insulting tone.

@@davidhemsworth4098 Yes but read further into Law 12. A DOGSO doesn't always occur in the penalty area. Read further into Law 12 and it states: In all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.) the offending player must be sent off. In this case, the defender made a fair and completely possible attempt at the ball and should not have been sent off.

All other circumstances include offences not in the penalty area. You've read it arse-about not thinking about the way the law has evolved. It's understandable but it makes me think you are relatively junior. No disrespect intended.

That coach was not wrong... just his terminology was very poor.

Coach is correct, just using the wrong rules phrasing as grumpy pointed out. It was a clear DOGSO and a straight red is the appropriate call.

@@grumpyref should have been a yellow , due to where the direction of the ball went wasn’t towards goal , rule state if a if you commit a foul being last man , it is deemed a foul and red if the direction of the ball was going to goal , by the angle the ball was head away from goal . So not every last man tackle is a red , sometimes it’s just how the red interprets what he sees

@@IvanGomez-ox7tz the direction of the ball doesn't have to be right at goal. At the moment of the foul, the ball is right in front of the attacker and headed RIGHT AT GOAL. The touch occurs, by one or both players, as the foul is being committed.

So why isn't the refereeing what about you'd expect? The players made all kinds of shit touches and decisions.

Ref looked pretty young so why don't we do our best to run him off before he improves with experience. He definitely made some errors, some of which were corrected by getting input from his crew. The PK calls and the DOGSO were correct in the end.

Im with this guy. The officiating was "OK" at best. Refs miss calls, its part of the game. Take away the penalties and what not neither team really out played the other. Unfortunately in today's game its all about how you fake the foul. I do however applaud both coaches for each teams ability to play out of the back. Never been a fan of keepers punting the ball from one 18 to another. There's no skill involved there. Both teams had terrific ball movement both defensive and offensive. Never really lost shape either. That shows great discipline and coaching.

@@toddwright662 agree with everything you say except the send off. Under the laws of the game, he made a fair and possible attempt at the ball in a DOGSO situation, and that is cautionable only. Ref got it right the first time before being 'forced' to change to red.

​@@WrinklyTraveller Not a ref, and I don't have the laws in front of me but, my understanding of of DOGSO is that outside the box it is always a red regardless of intent to play the ball by the offending player; it was somewhat recently (two years ago maybe) amended by FIFA to a caution instead of a sending off when inside the box and when the offending player has made an actual attempt on the ball so as not to over-penalize the team with the loss of a player AND a penalty kick. The ref got this one right in then end with the help of his crew; when he called it a penalty, he should have given a yellow because the defender had made a play on the ball, but did foul in the attempt. When his AR, who had the far better angle to determine the location of the foul in relation to the box, corrected his location of the foul to outside the box, he should have shown a red; he was corrected by his crew before the restart. The only thing he did wrong on this call was begin to misapply the caution before being corrected. Based on his appearance of age, my guess is more experience will improve his judgement and application of the laws. His crew did an outstanding job of supporting him.

That's correct. The ball was unplayable. Shouldn't have been awarded a pk.
