Honestly, I never thought someone would solve this. But here we are. This dude casually picks the bad ending then inputs the Konami code and gets it. Mad respect for solving this 6 year old mystery.
Wow, this is the audio file that everybody thought happened when you pirated the game. I remember there being a huge debate about it, and even the devs said there was no anti-piracy screen. So this is pretty awesome.
that's crazy, video game mysteries and all their contents usually get discovered within a few years, the fact it took 6 to find out this song that's been a mystery for so long actually has a part in the game is so cool to me, I always thought it was a cute secret for people who looked through the files to look at
I always thought this was a random unused song that was replaced by the current bad ending song or a song that was just there to scare people who are looking at the game files of the game so this video was shocking for me [also the fact that this has been in the game years and now just being discovered is also pretty cool]. Also i think that this easter egg is a great topic to make a youtube short about so can i have permission to make a short that talks about this topic? I will be giving you credit in both the video and the description. Other than that great job on discovering this and i hope you have a wonderful day! :D
Nice find! I thought it was just unused or a surprise hiding in the files. I know Cuphead maybe is a little bit dark, but I don't know why something so unsettling would be put in the game.
When I first heard it I actually thought it would happen if you pirate the game but nope! Just a easter egg. Pretty disturbing easter egg to say the least.
I did this like mid 2022 -early 2023 when i first got cuphead because i had a tendency to just put the Konami code in things randomly and i got it. I thought it was a cool thing and never thought much of it lol. (I was 12 back then) Really interesting video though. Hats off to you 🎩
There's probably other people that found it who aren't aware like me (probably kids) but you made it public which is really cool and I give you respect for figuring it's the song.
@@RedRedPawPatrolAnimations nah, just saying that there's probably more people who accidentally stumbled on it like me and never noticed it. All I'm trying to say is that I find it cool how Gio is the first one to recognize this thing and post it publicly.
I always thought that it was an easter egg inkwell put for dataminers. Btw i almost got a heart attack when I tried it, cause for some reason, it turned the track on max volume
@@guy_th18 I knew it! I’ve noticed that most video games’ creepy, or Easter egg songs usually have hidden images/messages when you put them into a spectrogram.
How did it take this long for someone to find this? Wow. What an odd place to put that scary song. But that's really cool. How did you know to do this?
I'm a modder so I saw it in the code, but in the past I didn't exactly knew/think of where to put in this button combination, until I did a bit of thinking and then it clicked in my head.
the soundfile itself was pretty common knowledge, the issue was the trigger to have it play in game was, needless to say, unobvious, and since it was only seen in the files, it created rumors of anti-piracy measures, or the bad ending (which only plays the normal reverse as shown) the kick was actually having it play, which involved the bad ending all this time later
I saw it in the code in the past & at first I didn't know where it was used, and after a bit of thinking a few days ago before uploading this video I realized it was for the main menu screen (I first tried it in the title screen and it didn't work), and after inputting the combo in the main menu screen it did work.
Eh sorta when the game was first released back in September 2017, but I believe on its first patch back in December 2017 it was added in as an Easter Egg, but people only knew abt the reverse title theme w/o knowing there was another thing hidden if you were to do this button combination in the main menu screen.
This is just in the main menu, it doesn't affect your save files (Also it goes away if you go into a file and when going back to the title screen it will be normal).
@@GioTGM I missed your reply and only saw it literally right after trying the code. I was worried because I hadn’t seen you’re reply yet, but It went back to normal and I was relived.
@@edgarectorIn the past I saw the button combination in the code, but at the time I didn't knew what it was for at first. A few days ago when I was messing around with a program called BepinEx for redistributing the Master Quest Mod, I opened up the menu while in the title screen and saw the "MUS_Intro_DontDealWithDevil_Vocal_666" gameobject and I was like, "Why was this here?" and when I went to play, not expecting it to work, it played the audio and at first I was surprised it played and I thought it was just something that was unused, but when I looked into the code (again) and saw that there was a certain button combination, and I tried it, first, in the title screen and that didn't work, so I tried it in the main menu selection and it did work and played the audio (The way it was intended to be triggered). So I saw that there wasn't a video mentioning this, so I though to make this video (Unless there was already a video demonstrating this, but afaIk there wasn't one out there besides mine).
@@GioTGM I just remember seeing a video of it (or a short) years ago. They presented it as something creepy. My memory is fuzzy about being a code, but I still think there was.
@@edgarectorI think I know what your talking about I remember watching a short from a RU-vidr called tetra bit gaming that made a video about a rumor that this song would play if you played a pirated version of Cuphead he said this rumor was false but never said anything about the button combination crazy how geo found out how it worked.
I assume so, since on that same patch (December 1st, 2017) they spruced up some things including an alternate title theme when getting the bad ending, but I guess players didn't really try to do the konami code in the main menu screen after getting that ending.
@@imback-e1s Yeah, it should. Maybe you didn't say "Yes" to devil (Cuz the only way to trigger the secret is to say "Yes" to him and then input the Konami code in the main menu screen)?
