The colosal dance you saw actually from Aceh, the western province of Indonesia. If you look closely all the dance magically did some color change with costumes. Yes, they wore 5 layers of 5 different fabrics that put one on top of the other. The dancers just pulled upfront clothes systematically in line with their dynamic movements . Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over Asia. They have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games. The opening ceremony was opened with a ratoeh jaroe dance to greet the invited guests in attendance, involving 1600 girls from 18 Jakarta High Schools. This dance originated in Aceh, a province in Indonesia on the west end, located on the island of Sumatra. this opening ceremony has 5 segments. 1. Water theater from the Majapahit kingdom in 1293 to 1500, "Gajah Mada" which unites islands with water. And this also symbolizes the greatness of Indonesia as a maritime country. This segment closed by raisa with "zamrud khatulistiwa" song. 2. Earth symbolizing natural wealth and diversity of tribes in Indonesia. here displays 19 traditional dances and regional song from several ethnic groups in Indonesia. 3. Air describes the ancestral strength and nationalism of the Indonesian people. So, this segment is not in the highlight footage that you watch. 4. Fire describes the spirit and courage of the Indonesian people. In addition, this segment is also a portrayal of victory as well as the opening of the 2018 Asian Games. Here is fire dance combined with kecak dance from bali. 5. Energy describes the strength and diversity of young people as Asian spirit and energy. Here is enlivened by futuristic dance, ballet, hip hop, parkour, contemporary cube accompanied by the official song "Bright as the sun"

There are 1.500 dancers for the opening/welcoming dance and it was called Tari Ratoeh Jaroe from Aceh all of them are highschool students and they do the singing too so the singing part is live. There was around 4000 dancers total in all segments (Opening, Earth, Fire, Energy). I'm one of the Energy dancers and it took us 5 months of practice for this ceremony After the opening dance is Earth segment. Start from a ship coming in, water, fishes and the dances and songs after that are tradisional dances and songs from across Indonesia. It is describe Indonesia itself about how many islands, religions, tribes, and cultures. Next is Fire segment which describe the fiery spirit of the youth to compete. Last is Energy segment which is the highlight of this ceremony to describe Indonesia as the energy for Asia which is the slogan/theme for this year Asian Games "ENERGY OF ASIA" Better watching the full version at video.com.
