So much respect for Michael J Fox. He's never lost his sense of humour despite everything he's been through. A true inspiration to the indomitable human attitude.
You know, the very first movie Michael J. Fox was in that I ever saw was Stuart Little, where he voiced the title character. He did such a fantastic job in that role, in spite of what he's been going through!
@@sexobscura That's not what the original commenter was driving at. His point is that MJ Fox is modest and accepting enough of his state to actually make comedy out of it.
My dad got Parkinson, he is highly depressed.. I took a shot in the dark and showed him this video, unsure on how he would react. It was a success, he was actually shaking from laughter!
Sorry to hear about your Dad. Parkinson's is a truly terrible affliction. I'm a medicinal chemist, and I used to do research on Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases. What medications is your Dad taking ? How long ago was he diagnosed ? The depression emerges from the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the brain, and dopamine is the neurochemical responsible associated with concentration, attention and a range of emotions, often happiness or, even euphoria. But when those neurons degrade the dopamine ligand has fewer places to bind to, to elicit the stimulatory response. Hence the excitatory neurotransmitters become less impactful on mood, and depression is a common symptom. It's a real bastard of a disease. Similar to Alzheimer's in the way it destroys brain tissue. There are new chemicals being researched that are available for Parkinson's, although in most cases they are off label or haven't been approved for Parkinson's (but for other conditions, unrelated to that disease), and yet are still shown to be effective in reducing symptoms in some people, according to the medical literature. So if you tell me his medications, if you know them, I can possibly recommend some others; some medications which are the first line treatment currently, are useful, but others aren't, and can actually exacerbate certain symptoms. It's worth looking into. You can adjust specific medications to provide specific symptomatic relief.
Biggest indication that Michael J. Fox purposely shook that bottle of soda: He immediately went to get a paper towel knowing that the moment Larry David opens the bottle there would soda everywhere (2:05).
First, "I don't get it" is not a question. Second, Michael J. Fox's most famous movie is Back to the Future, which came out in 1985. Larry is talking about watching that movie in 1985. Michael then makes a joke about travelling in time to 1985, which is what he did in the movie.
Definitely my favorite, and he was hilarious on Family Ties as well. Awesome to see his condition hasn't reduced his sense of humor, he probably appreciates humor more than ever.
@@RandysDirtyBurger Shut up American. It's "humour". The United States didn't invent the English language so you don't get to dictate it's linguistics. You want your own language so bad then invent one called 'Merican where you can come up with all sorts of terms for shooting up a school, having sex with your cousin and living in a trailer park. Until then speak English the way it was meant to be spoken.
The segue from pouring milk for coffee… it’s those details that make this show. You could make that milkshake joke in isolation and it would be funny, but nowhere near as good as when you have a natural lead-in.
Totally. He Is an Actor. No matter what, that who he is, talented, thoughtful, caring and brilliant human being and actor! This all cant be taken away by anything. And that's most important
Michael J. Fox is the best in this episode. In spite of everything he’s gone through, he’s never lost his sense of humor, or his ability to make people laugh.
"I'm a head shaking fool." Michael you're a mess! I have the utmost respect for you and the way you've allowed us to experience your journey with Parkinson's and your tireless efforts with your advocacy for research towards a possible cure. You show the world how to be a great human being! I've been a fan since your days on Family Ties but my respect for you has advanced so much farther than to be simply a fan. I hope what you believe about "5 years from now" comes to fruition and you are the first to benefit.
I already thought Michael J. Fox was the man, just based off the movies from my childhood but... Man, this scene really made me appreciate him so much more as a human being.
Michael J Fox really cemented his role as a comedy icon with this performance. That complete lack of self-consciousness and willingness to go for the funniest bit is extraordinary.
I can be a selfish person. In saying that, just SEEING Michael J. Fox in ANY capacity in a series or movie...he can talk, but only if he wants, not talk, rif, improvise....I just don't want him to stop doing what he loves. Like ever. I've said my piece. I enjoy hearing him speak and his personality is still solid as a rock. Just like he is and that wonderful family of his. xoxo
Only Larry David could pull that off. Hats off to Michael for playing along brilliantly. Love Leon’s remarks. Lmao. Priceless Curb is so intelligent viewing
Just watched "Still" Michael's movie about his life and thoroughly recommend it. This is one of my favourite Curb episodes ever and I'm so glad Larry had this idea
This strikes a chord with me because I have Parkinson's and kept my sense of humor like Michael.. I even pranked my neurosurgeon after he totally fixed my Tremors using painless sound waves. Miracle surgery. Check out Tremor Documentary 2022!
MJF probably felt great to be included in being on Curb Your Enthusiasm. I can't imagine dealing with his health challenges, and then not being able to do what he enjoys, loves and is great at. Comedy and acting. This EP is EPIC!
@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 Wheat bugs???? There's no chance of that happening to a damn box of wheat thins you put in a pantry. I've been eating wheat based products my whole life, and I've never even heard of wheat bugs being a thing to worry about. There ain't no bugs that are going to get in to your box of crackers.
These are 2 guys that really make me laugh!! I'll always watch them. They rock!! Kudos to Michael for allowing his parkinson's to be the butt of a joke. Always good to satire yourself!!
@@Video-Games-Are-Fun Many of those cast members didn’t turn it into a big film career, Luke Perry a prime example. He should’ve been what Leo DiCaprio is.
