I think the problem is when the couple isn't genuine in what they say or if they invite people who only loosely know them to watch. It comes off showy and cringey. This type of thing is too intimate and imo only extremely close ppl should be invited like if my best friend or sibling did a vow renewal I would cry watching it. If it was acquaintance... then yeesh.

The things ppl scoff at will always blow me lol the point of the show is how absurd he is at being upset at everyday things. It’s not to help you relate and make you comfortable with being a hater. “Oh no, renewing vowels is so narcissistic! Talking is so narcissistic! Everyone being alive and doing stuff that makes them happy is soOoOo narcissistic! Larry David pulls back what 100% of all people do to place themselves first and in their first interest above others . He doesn’t have to magnify , as la la land ( hollywood LA ) culture currently exposes itself as so out of touch . The Jewish brotherhood thing in a room of today’s Puritans is an old and very humorous extra , I love his license as bold . Wealthy , self absorbed , and new to Southern Californians are such delusional post modern Americans . Thank You Larry David for your honesty .
