My father's one and only experience with Morrowind was thus: He got pretty far into the game (obviously didn't do the Divayth Fyr's quest to get 100% immunity to disease) and during some quest he got the vampiric disease. Morrowind being Morrowind didn't tell him how to cure it unless he found a specific book and this made him rage quit it. Fast forward to Oblivion and my poor ol' dad's first foray into the game lead him to a cave... which contained vampires. He hasn't touched an Elder Scroll game since.
Being a vampire in oblivion is pretty neat if you have a high sneak skill which grants you the freedom to feed wherever, whenever, on whomever. But the biggest problem I have with it is the absolutely horrid face texture it gives you. If I played oblivion at launch and got vampirism, without the mod nullifying the facial morph, I would have definitely rage quit too.
The beauty of youtube compared to twitch is if you get tired recording, you can take a break and come back to it later, then edit it to look like one take. Don’t stress man, take your time
@@kylem.7466 yea but it’s live, a break screen for several hours or even a day isn’t something people will just sit and wait for. RU-vid allows complete freedom of both creator and viewer to be in control of pacing
As part of the vampire lore "cattle" are captures whose blood is used by the vampires for nourishment. Vampires can only heal by drinking blood, so they have domesticated slaves for the purposes of providing blood.
That’s a shame that they can’t be released like other slaves. I think I used to always kill them, it was a kind of bitter mercy for those who couldn’t talk like a normal human being and couldn’t leave their lair.
@@Cybetrexs aye it’s still a shame that you can’t just kill the head vampire (using maybe a calm spell to avoid them or just running through) and freeing them after although lord knows how deep thrall magic goes. Would be neat though, I do feel bad on quests like that 😂
It should be difficult. It's too easy now. I'll never forget first time I did a murder in Morrowind and the imperials kept trying to kill me on sight. Good times. I think I loaded an earlier save because it was such a pain. Lol loved it.
Healing Vampirism in Skyrim: Old man in bog says "Okay, just gimme a soul gem with the soul of someone and we'll get to it." Healing Vampirism in Morrowind: That's cute... Anyway, find one of two specific books, talk to the Daedra who created vampires, strike a deal, kill his daughter and come back to him. That should do it.
@@TheReZisTLust The other is..... the reincarnation of a hundreds of years-old war-leader of an entire nation, chosen champion of a Goddess, respected by a race so arrogant, mysterious and powerful that they break reality to make roombas, and defeated them in war. Given how mantling works, even if the other guy didn't start out as Nerevar, he definitely became Nerevar.
@@thisisaname5589 He's still right in the sense that Nerevar didn't have any sort of super-mystical powers apart from what any regular Chimer could learn to use, although one would assume he's extremely proficient in his skills that he does have.
Ahh, when vampirism was an actual curse. That sun damage is ridiculous and dipping into caves all the time to wait until nightfall is a pain, but it truly is the vampire experience. Also, Elton brand is too op that it becomes boring. I like the spear of bitter mercy you get from sheogorath’s quest but I like spears in general. Also also, morrowind vampires were the coolest because there were vampire clans, and depending on what clan of vampire turned you, you’d get different quests from different clan leaders and different stats would be boosted.
Yeah, even in Oblivion if you stepped out in the Sun or forgot and waited outside you'd go "FUCK!" and go to safety quickly... (And yes, Morrowind had a knack for variety that I really miss in more recent TES games)
@@NWolfsson or when you fast travel at night and you’re at vampirism stage 4, and get there midday, you forgot you haven’t fed so you immediately wait so you can start a quest, and you just die. And don’t get me started on Morrowind. I don’t know how that game didn’t become their standard. Even now it’s the best one of the three I’ve played. Vampirism in that game is no fucking joke. Locks you out of almost everything, it’s 100 or 0 with it since there’s no stages and everyone knows you’re a vampire immediately, npcs trying to kill you in towns, and since essential npcs could actually die in that game you could destroy an entire quest line. I get it, that would be super annoying if it happened by accident and you didn’t know and then you couldn’t finish the quests, but that’s the reason why it’s so awesome. Hell even the dice roll system for the combat grew on me. It was annoying but I went “at least random playable prison person #317 isn’t just godly with everything immediately for no discernible reason. Thats gonna make it fun when theyre actually good as shit at something.” I played Morrowind after playing both Oblivion and skyrim. Oblivion is the one I grew up on so it’s the one I have nostalgia for. But Morrowind is the one I had the most consistent fun with. I hated caves in oblivion and hated them in skyrim. Too bland in oblivion, too many in skyrim. But in Morrowind, maybe it’s because there was no fast travel, maybe it’s because the grind for skill levels was a lot more rewarding, maybe it’s because these random caves sometimes hid the most clever and rewarding of secrets (eliedon’s ward anyone? That room with the boat and the waterfall is gorgeous, too), maybe it was because levitate added a whole new possible dimension of secrets to find in caves, maybe it was all of that, but I would go into about every other random cave I would find for the fuck of it. Damn, now I wanna start a new play through lol. Morrowind best rpg in my book.
Although the vampire clans were pretty hidden. Easy to clear out a clan, get infected in the process and never know that they had cool quests you could do.
@@squidbeefedit Nearly 30 years ago, when I DJed on university radio, I used to start a shift by scratching all the Smiths records to render them unplayable. I considered it a public service ;)
Suran's Outfitter is bugged, so...you can steal from her without any repercussions. Good way to get some gear/money early on. She does call you a "swit" when stealing, though...so...there is that.
Galom Daeus is the base for "Berne" clan; they are the stealth masters. "Aundae" clan which Micky here has, is the magic master clan. The third one, "Quarra" are the combat masters. Each clan has a base and a unique set of quests.
I prefer the quest line for the Aundae clan, even though they're Altmer and hate me. Mind you it's satisfying to kill them all once you've been cured. There are also some quests available to all vampires. One of them is in a cave inside the Ghost Fence on the north east side of Red Mountain.
Figuring out how to cure vampirism is supposed to be hard in this game. You can do it on your own, but its not easy. You have to actually stop and think in real life and try to work out how to go about doing it. You have to remember there are books on vampire lore in the game. You have to go and find the books, which as you know is not easy. Knowing there are libraries where heretical books are stored is necessary. With those you have to find the hidden texts. and with that, its much simpler. But you did it the hard way XD If you do know what to do, you can just go straight to the shrine and talk to molag bal. You didn't need to go to the observatory at all. But you could've made it easier by getting infected by vampires in the same clan as the ones who were in the observatory, because then they wouldn't attack you. Yeah, there are three vampire clans. Which one you get infected by determines your stat boosts and which quests you can do.
I didn't know this, if you can still respond after all of these months, is it possible to do all 3 clans in one playthru or can you only be cured once?
Actually, all books on vampire lore are obtained during Mage's Guild quests from an argonian in Sadrith Mora, including the one you need to fetch from the secret library, yet it is unknown whether this argonian has any unique replics for a vampire protagonist
I remember playing this back in the day and getting vampirism and it surprised the hell out of me, and I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it and I pretty much ended up stop playing around that same time kind of because I didn't have as much time
I love how everyone is screaming "I CURSE YOU VAMPIRE" and then at 2:33 there's just one guy who says the same thing in the most chill quiet voice ever. He's still cursing you, but he's being polite about it.
@@neoqwerty Your body underwater will be protected from the sun, but your neck and shoulders will be more vulnerable as the water will wash off sunscreen.
Funny enough morrowind is the game with less bugs/glitches And to be honest... skyrim is going to be 10 years old now so graphics shouldn't be a problem to play the other games...
Interesting lore thing Molag bal is the creator of vampirism, yet vermina is the deadra normally associated with curing it The reason is that she made it to spite Bal and as such only deadra she's on good terms with Such as meridia usually get it
interesting because other than curing vampirism vaermina is pretty objectively pretty evil. i love how meridia isnt actually good shes basically just a stuck up bxch who happens to like things that are good most of the time. would love to see her as a villain in a future game, it would fit really well with the rise of the thalmor
This video series ist just so... special. Because when I played Morrowind first back in 2006, it crashed on a smoewhat regular basis because the PC was just medioker. But what never ever happened to me within 15 years of playing this game are the mass reported bug like falling through the floor... it is actually very interesting to see those bugs in action XD
Did anyone else notice that the characters mouth moves whenever Molag Bol speaks. Didn't realize that it's the player who is speaking. Almost like a possession
I'm going through these videos more than a year later and honest, this is just the shite I need to relax after a hard day at work. Magnificent content.
I discovered this channel through one of your shitposts a couple of weeks ago, and man, I just can't stop binging your vids! The atmosphere of 'em, the small jokes you insert here and there, singing songs and talking about bands when people say stuff like «the cure» or «you too», the playing of Bethesda games... It's just so much fun to chill to your videos! And your accent's the fecking best! You've become one of my favourite RU-vidrs for sure!
i feel like a quest to cure vampirism needs to be tedious and challenging so it feels so much more rewarding when you get it! in morrowind and oblivion it was like "ok, there are not much people to know a cure, and to be cured i need to do this and that, and go to here and there..." in skyrim its just "get a soulgem, meet me here at dawn" and BOOM, cured! feels like Falion does this on a daily bases! what i mean is, that you should need to EARN the cure and that there needs to be a certain degree of mystery involved in achieving it!
As a 10 year old kid, I played Morrowind for 8 months before even realising there was a main quest - let alone side quests. I thought you were just meant to explore ... imagine the world that opened up to me when I finally realised you were meant to do things ...
Micky, you know there are 3 vampire clans you can get vampire specific quests from. You will become a member of that clan depending on the vampire you contracted porphyric hemophilia from. You can also get 2 more rare items only accessible to vampires. Aside from that, you can still continue Mages guild quests and house telvanni quests as a vampire. You can even still beat the game using the backdoor method. I HAVE AN IDEA FOR ANOTHER CHALLENGE 😏
I always roll a vampire at some point in TES games, but I needed that vampire mod to get around the people hating you thing. They shouldn't be able to tell you're a vamp at first if you're at stage one anyway. That's how most games & myths work. Heheh, _bonelord._ The Cure is one of my favorite bands.
From how I understand it, the Dunmer are far more opposed to Necromancy of any kind so they really dislike Vampires, and since all the information about vampires is hidden people think you're an Evil Necromancer, wheras in Cyrodil nobody really gives a shit and also there's only 1 bloodline and it's a very pure bloodline (Gotten the Vampirism directly from Molag Bal) so you can' tell if someone's a vampire, and in Skyrim nobody cares and I think there's only really 1 bloodline that's simmilar to the one from cyrodil
@@rescuerex7031 thought vvandenfell vampires were different anyway so you can spot one a mile off. One of the reasons you could be a vamp in oblivion without much penalty as long as you feed, vampires in cyridill have more social oriented skills
@@captainhindsight6994 They do say Ash Vampire (or something like that) in Morrowind, so it might be cuz it's completely different and not just the purity of the Vampirism in Vvardenfell
@@captainhindsight6994 The book Immortal Blood from Oblivion does explain that Cyrodiil vampires are the only ones capable of passing as humans, though Bethesda completely retconned that in Skyrim. Either way though, the concept of vampires being able to blend in with normal people wasn't really a thing in TES until Oblivion.
@@yewtewbstew547 Not true, you could fit in perfectly fine as a vampire in Daggerfall. Your reputation with every faction was reset, but you could rejoin them and rise up the ranks again just fine, and the main quest and side quests were still available to you.
I remember playing this shortly after it came out and contracted vampirism. I was stuck for weeks trying to figure it out. Joined a vampire clan, could only do quests for mages etc. I finally put two and two together, mages would speak to me so surely that’s where I’d start. Started talking to every mage until one mentioned a book. Was able to get it cured finally. No walkthrough or internet made it really feel like a curse.
So happy to see people still taking up Morrowind as newbs in this day and age. That game has a lot to offer still. BTW another use of cliff racer feathers is to make levitation potions, until you get your enchantment skill high enough to make practical levitation objects - or find one, like you did in this video. Edit: Racer plumes and trama root make levitation potions.
I know absolutely nothing about Morrowind but Micky D is such a delight to listen to he makes everything interesting to get into. I even bought Morrowind on steam to try out C:
get it for the quests. You have 3 clans and you can get 4 different vampire forms I think. Each gives you different stats ans you can talk only with your clan and work for them if you find there HQ. Loved the mage vampire clan Aundae the most, but the others are interesting too.
vampirism in morrowind is flat out terrible. good luck doing any of the quests (other than the small handful of vampire specific quests) until you cure yourself
Daggerfall vampirism is crazy overpowered and much better than any other game. Not to mention turning into a vampire in that game is straight up metal. You get a nightmare about murdering a beautiful woman, (with a cutscene), have your normal game over screen where you get buried in a crypt, then you wake up in said crypt.
5:50 That's not a fault, I love the darkness in Morrowind. It gives nighttime and dungeons a spooky atmosphere. I hate how in Oblivion, when you walk in to a cave, there'll be about 100 different spots glowing diffusely from light sources unknown, you'll see far less light coming from actual light sources like torches and holes in the ceiling to the outside. It ruins the immersion and atmosphere. Sometimes, dungeons should be dark. Sometimes, night should be dark. And always, light should have a source.
Vanilla Morrowind is not dark at all. Most dungeons are bright enough and gamma correction will do wonders. I think it is just some lighting mods that really turn dungeons dark.
the parts in the vid where there were huge dust clouds remind me of this immersive mod i have in my current skyrim playthrough that purposely makes snow and rain storms way more intense so it's harder to see and navigate through them
I remember when i was younger id always go to suran to steal all the loot from the merchants repair the glass dagger the ebony bracer and the ebony darts that was good money for bearly starting of lollll
you need to learn about : Mark/recall. both intervesion spells, mageguild teleport and the dwemer highway... for all you fast travel needs ... even works as a vampire
I love these videos where you just do a quest! They're brilliant! (Tho c'mon mate, if you're gonna do a quest that involves a lot of travelin do yourself & us a favour & bloody pick Breton (50%) or Orc (25%) so you can use the Boots of Blinding Speed.)
Being a vampire in skyrim is really fun with the dawnguard dlc, I definitely prefer it than oblivion. In my current pc playthrough of oblivion, I'm role-playing as a vampire, I've had to make my own vampire spells, cuz the ones you get are shit.
