Hey friends! Let's continue on with my various current candle collections. Today I want to share what is left of my once absolutely massive (by my standards) Bath & Body Works Candle collection. This is the smallest my BBW candle collection has been in many years. I still hope to whittle this down to 2 crates max and I think I will get there by the end of this year. I only started collecting BBW candles in December 2022. Prior to that, I'd purchase 1 or 2 for the year. At present, I have about 150 BBW 3-wicks, 30 single-wicks and 6 3-wick-candles from Goose Creek. I'm enjoying growing my collection, but it's a very expensive hobby. I live in the Caribbean, and they're very costly to purchase both locally and to import from the US. This year, my goal is to get over the anxiety of burning the candles that I have only 1 of... I've enjoyed them on cold but haven't allowed myself to enjoy the burn. I also want to shop less and only purchase really good sales and what my budget allows.

Hi Melanie. Wow, awesome job! I am so proud of you. You still have some gems in your collection! That Sweet Cranberry Pie and Cranberry Pumpkin are so divine 🥰! I have 1 Sweet Cranberry Pie left in my collection and no Cranberry Pumpkin left. Vanilla Balsam is so lovely! I actually love all the scents you have left 😂❤. Thanks for posting these candle collection videos my friend! I am on a low buy this year too. My candle collection has gotten out of control too and I find that I need to stop buying all the new scents and enjoy what I already own. It's that FOMO thing plus all the sales and of course our love for home fragrance itself 🤣🥰! I made a rule that I cannot buy more than 3 backups of scents that I love. I want to get to a place like you where I only buy candles with each season and use thf majority of them up with maybe a stagger or two. I am running out of storage space too 🤣! Between BBW and Scentsy, I have too much and need to dwindle it down. You are right, there will always be new great scents to try and sales so I need to just enjoy what I got and starting burning the old retired scents that I have been holding onto. It's time to part. It's like you said, life is too short. We bought these candles to enjoy them, so enjoy them now while we can 🥰❤! Thanks for helping me stay on track this year. Love your rule! I think setting some guidelines for buying is so important. I will allow myself at least 2 of something I really love, but there really is not excuse to get more. These candles all burn for a decently long time and realistically I can only burn so many in any given day without it being too much for my house and eventually destroying the paint lol!

Thanks Melanie for this series of videos . It’s nice to watch someone thats getting some control on candles/wax. I’m trying…it’s so overwhelming. I’m easily influenced. I love getting older scents that get talked about, and that gets expensive too. I actually watched your video of the bbw sweet cranberry pie which sealed a deal😂Alf is so sweet❤

Oh yes, I know there are so many of us in the same boat. It's such a fun hobby and I think it can be done in a different way to avoid getting overwhelmed by the stuff. I really think getting older is what is causing me to realize that I can't take this stuff with me. I have to watch how much I bring in and I HAVE to enjoy what I have.

🙋‍♀️I’m on this journey. 2023 I definitely reduced the amount of candles I added, but not enough. This year I’m not pumping the brakes I’m stomping on them until my collection gets dramatically smaller. The FOMO and “it’s on sale” mindset are hard to break but we all (who want to) got this!!! 🙂

Well done! It’s hard not to add, there’s always something you think you just have to have 😂 I’m down to 4 large Yankees, 3 Christmas and Angels Wings for anniversaries, down from 32 at one time. My BBW three wicks are now 41, most of them are started. Last year I finished off nearly 40 part burns and dregs that were kept ‘because they were favourites’. These burn quickly so not so much of a problem as the hard wax candles that seem to last forever. I think lots of us would like to reduce drastically our collections, to make way for new ones of course without feeling too guilty 😂 Pauline UK.

I am with you on feeling overwhelmed with my collection. Most of my candles are from BBW and it’s out of control and I am really focused this year on either burning them or passing them along to friends or family. I was very happy this past week at work I sold 6 candles to coworkers! I am definitely getting out of the mindset where I feel that I have to purchase during every sale especially if I have a coupon. I’m just not going to do that anymore.

This is so inspiring and wow does it hit home! I used to keep 10-20 BBW candles at one time, shopping back when White Barn No. 1 and The Original were being sold, then fomo hit when shutdown happened in 2020 and we were scrambling to order candles online. Scent memory is a difficult thing to let go of, and BBW has many of us hooked lol! Thank you for sharing this journey with us, I’m definitely on the same path and trying to get my 140+ stash back down to under 50, but those darn new releases compounded with a great sale and coupon make this so challenging😂🤣 And had to laugh when you mentioned how a non-candle collector hears of us owning this many candles and thinking we are a bit crazy, I look forward to the day my kids stop over and don’t gasp when they walk past my candle closet🤣

Ohhhhh White Barn No. 1!!!! I remember it! It was a favorite of mine. I had a few that I finally burned several years ago. One of their best!

I think a lot of people are overwhelmed. I think the pandemic caused a lot of us to buy at a rate that was unsustainable. Although for me, this was building for years before that even lol.

Ugh, yes I have actually been there.., done that as I’m sure you know. I haven’t been in Bbw in about 2 years. I have probably 5 candles remaining from my massive collection (you know living in a test state). I now only buy 1-2 candles per season (antique candle co is my fave) and I burn them in that season. I agree that the number is different for everyone and to each their own.

Yay for reducing the candle clutter! 🎉I’ve been focused for the past several months on reducing my B&BW collection to currently just 12 (8 are Paris Café since it’s only released once a year @ Candle Day). I’m glad to have reduced the collection from 50+ to 12 (4 fragrances). I remember those $10 off $30 receipt coupons; before I became a hoarder, now recovered. Good job! 👏 Thanks for sharing. R☘️

I have roughly the same amount of bbw candles as you, which is about 1/3-1/2 of my whole collection. I am also trying to purchase less back ups…although I think if it’s my top 1 or 2 scents for a certain season, I’d like to try to have 1 extra on hand for the following year, in case it doesn’t come back. So I’ve been whittling it down for that. I love to use the coupons and sales, but I try to only do so when the good prices match up with scents I know I love! Every once in a while, something new gets to me though.

My BBW collection is out of control. I really need to get it whittled down but it would probably take me a lifetime. I give some away when my daughter and her friends are looking for candles or gifts, but not enough. Selling is certainly a possibility but it's such a pain. I definitely understand the FOMO thing, and I don't know why I'm a victim of it! My goal this year is to purchase WAY LESS than I normally do at BBW, and to only purchase my TRUE loves, not every new thing that comes along or every new label of a repackage because it's "pretty." I'm finding so far that it's been a little easier this year (we're just starting, of course) because I'm not as much into the spring/summer scents, and the quality of the BBW candles has gone downhill so much and I have to remind myself of that. I mean, basically, when I get a candle from there, I can only burn it half way. So either I toss it because it's too dirty to even warm (scent affected) or I stop burning it before the soot gets to it and warm the rest. So, I've been reminding myself that I'm purchasing half a candle before I buy... 🤨 I recently noticed that Sassy Girl Aroma offers a dupe of BBW's Sweet Cranberry Pie. I know you're not big on vendor wax, but might be worth a try. I've never had it, so I can't say how close or good it is, but the notes are: "Cranberry Pie - Compared to Sweet Cranberry Pie by BBW- Tart Cranberries, Brown Sugar, Chopped Walnuts, Flaky Pie Crust." Not that I'm trying to get you to buy any more BBW candles, but have you tried the new Almond Croissant? I didn't love it, but I'm finding that I don't always love nutty scents. But it is highly loved by many... and I will say, it is STRONG!

Wow I’m impressed !!! I was expecting a lot more hahaha. I pretty much shop at bath & body works once seasonally these days but I use to do it like every time they went to around $10. But my current collection is out of control for myself. I have four totes (by season) with about 3 layers of candles in each 😅 I will burn thru them but I probably don’t need to buy another candle for a few years lol

I agree that the BBW sales aren't what they once were. I try to only shop if i can get the 3 wicks for $10 or less. I am also trying to get through my "collection" and ONLY purchase enough for a season in combination of ALL brands I love. However, I just caught the BBW sale plus coupon to try the new gourmands and in store pickup so NO shipping charges either. Holy smokes is Almond Croissant worth it on cold. I will pick up another only if there is another sale of that caliber.

Have you ever heard of the author Dana k white? She is a cleaning organizing coach and she always talks about the container method like that spot is only for x and y and you can’t go over that limit. I love her podcast/YT and books to keep me focused on an end goal to reduce the stress. I am also working on my stash and like you want to say one shelf alone for candles and maybe one large drawer for wax only. It’s gonna take us all awhile but these videos help motivate us all! I'm on a low-buy this year, definitely trying to reduce the amount of candles I have in my collection, too. I don't get coupons from BBW despite multiple attempts to get them, which is honestly making me want to shop there even less. This with the fact they aren't bringing out many gourmands makes it easier to stay away!

I only started unintentionally collecting candles since Fall 2020. It took 2 years (plus having to move the “collection” twice) to get to the point of feeling overwhelmed. I drastically cut down my purchases in 2023, but BBW is the one brand that I still experience FOMO with. I hope to overcome that this year and I’m off to a great start. I haven’t purchased any spring release candles so far.

Strong work Melanie!!! I have also been aggressively decreasing my candles and wax melt stash. I've developed more respiratory sensitivity to fragrances lately which is totally a bummer but also a good motivator!

I'm trying hard to go through my bath and body works candles and get rid of some of them. I have so many along with Homeworx and goose Creek more BBW and HW though. I've been trying to do some early spring cleaning while in and out of the hospital with stomach issues. And I have thousands in just bath and body works . I have 5 crates to part with thus far, Not to mention the ones I've given to family members. It's just starting to get a little too overwhelming for me especially with all my health issues I have going on right now. My issue was when I loved a certain scent instead of buying two or three backups I would buy 10 or 15 back ups. Won't be doing that anymore. I told myself when January came in that I was going to definitely slow down on candles this year. I have placed a few orders but nothing like I normally do. I usually ordered every single week from BBW and HW. Once I get rid of some of what I have and burn down quite a bit I may just stick with wax melts even though I do have some wax melts to but nowhere close to what i have in candles . As I mentioned I was able to go through enough to at least get the 5 crates so at least thats a start. I also have a box of body care that will be going as well. It's just to much. Don't get me wrong I love my candles but I've just collected wayyy to many since I had to quite my nursing job 3 yrs ago due to health issues. That's when I really got addicted to candles. I have 7ft shelving units in my candle room with 5 shelves that holds 264 candles each shelf and theirs 4 shelving units in my candle room. It's crazy to have that many candles. that's over a thousand candles each shelving unit. I would be happy if I had the amount of BBW candles you have in this video. Because as I mentioned it can truly get overwhelming...I know theirs people that have way more than i do and idk how they deal with it. IDK even wanna know exactly how much I spent in candles over the past few years. I don't do afterpay, klarma or anything I have to make payments to. I pay out right for my candles and I have such a wonderful fiancee he didn't and doesn't care how many candles I order or ordered. But I will certainly be cutting down this year wayyy down until some of these other I have are gone which would probably take 4-ever thats why im getting as many crates together as possible to sell and get rid of. 🤦 Thanks Melanie 💓

Hi Melanie, I am in total agreement with you on this subject. I have realized that I have way, way too many candles in my collection. I also have many wax melts and Reed diffusers. Also lots of votive candles too.....i think I have an obsession with home fragrance. It is very hard to resist buying all the new candles coming out for Spring. So far I have not purchased any from Bath & Body Works or Homeworx or Kringle or Yankee. I have decided that I must get through some of the stash that I currently own. Thank you for this video. I need to really cut down on my scentsy collection. I also have the fear of missing out and I think the problem is me watching too many RU-vid videos on what everyone else likes that I want to try it. Then if I see someone warm something I think ohhh I want to go and warm that today soooo my club doesn’t get cut down which I really want to do this year

I tried sellinng on Mercari and man what a nightmare! They said they got there broken or their mailing address wasn’t good and they got sent back to me- I just gave up!

Well at least you got them sent back to you :( Mine were just straight up stolen by unethical "buyers" who claimed the candles arrived broken lol. They were not. There was no way with the way I always packaged everything. Mercari is an absolute nightmare honestly. I wish there was a better site to sell.
