Nice talk Pradeep, Lot of trials talking on chronic heart failure. Unfortunately the trials do not cover Acute heart failure. In my practice with peri-operative pts, Majority of the times use it along with other inotropes. Usual dose is 0.05 to 2 mic gm /kg/min. Usual practice in the ICU is not to give bolus. Limit infusion to 24 to 48 hrs. Usual complications are drop in SVR and systemic hypotension. The Cardiac index usually improves, lactate and Pro BNP reduces as well. Regards
