I see a Next in the crowd! And also a couple of Yukons! Nice! However, I have to say that nothing beats the old canoe for sheer load out ability! I notice that you had that thing loaded up about as much as we do on some of our trips! No need in leaving the creature comforts at home when you are paddling a canoe! Unless, of course, you are going to have to portage. Then that is a whole other beast!
Yes, the Next belongs to our group leader, Charlie! He loves it! And yes, I call myself the "Jed Clampett" of canoers (i.e., the opening theme with their loaded-out truck...lol).
Another great episode. I know that storm was probably a bit scary with that rain fly trying to whip around in the wind like that. Nothing beats that gorgeous sunset though, well worth the trouble!
Ha! I posted that comment before I was ready! LOL! There is just something about riding out a storm in a hammock. I remember laying in my hammock one night in a terrible lightning storm (I have a deep fear and respect for lightning, but that is a story for a campfire one night), and wondering if hammock straps would conduct electricity because I was convinced that the next bolt of lightning would have to strike one of the trees that I was tied to, if it was going to get any closer. SMH. The things that we do to paddle a canoe....I am going to write a book one day with short stories from our canoe trips and that is going to be the title. LOL!
I've been in a really "hot" storm before. Lightning wasn't super close, but close enough and non-stop!! That sounds like a great title for a book. Can I pre-order??? LOL!!! I know it will be a great one!!
We stuggled to decide between the Buffalo and the Current. Buffalo seems more remote and has bigger bluffs. I've not done the 11 point, but heard good things about it!!
Thanks for the run down!! Any idea when you will be uploading part 3/4? Planning a 5day this summer and your vids is the perfect primer. Thankyou so much😉
Thank you very much! I've started the third and final video. I hope to have it published sometime next week. Thanks for following along and please let me know how your upcoming trip goes!! :-)
2009 I finally talked my wife into a river trip. We stopped at 2 Rivers for ice cream then set off again. a few miles out a storm hits. awe pull off the river because it was so bad. Look up and we are staring straight up into a forming tornado. I guess it touched down up river a ways. I never bothered asking her to do any real camping again lol.
Oh wow! That's quite an adventure!! I've been caught in a few torrential downpours with lightning, but never a tornado...and certainly not right under one...lol!! Glad y'all survived!!!
