An underrated part of this album in my opinion is in ‘Over and Over’ when in the 3rd chorus they flip the drum pattern from the first 2 choruses. It gets me every time. Big fan of Currents and this album is awesome
Idk why but in Guide Us Home it gives me huge The Place I Feel Safest vibes when they have the chanting part going “Hell has come a part of me, when you look at yourself do you look through me?” Such chills
As a massive Currents fan, I didn't have very strong feelings for this album the first time through. Now after about my 1000th listen, I can happily say that they did not disappoint after how incredible TWIE was. I can't separate this from Heavener so for now they are staying tied at #1 for AOTY.
Damn....I really wish I could get into the cleans on Heavener...like I know they're so technically sound and talented but I find the cleans so bland and boring and sometimes just plain bad. I know how unpopular this take will be...but i just cant get into them and I feel like Brian's cleans on this album are just lightyears ahead of that album.
@@AcrossOceansOfficialBand Nah, cleans in Heavener are less buttrock-y than the latest Currents album. New Currents album still good, but Heavener still brings more to the table. This is still a standard metalcore album, done exceptionally well.
@@RachelleReacts yes!! The intro riff with that rolling double bass underneath was just unreal!! Chris Wiseman is a fucking wizard, and Brian shows no signs of stopping his improvement as a vocalist, and he was great to begin with!
Absolutely loving this album, so atmospheric. The death we seek is still my favourite track, in fact I'd argue it's some of their finest work, but unfamiliar comes in a close second. Great reaction Rachelle!
First I should say this is my first time listening to Currents. With this album I’ve found what I consider the perfect balance between cleans and harsh vocals on Metalcore. Whole album is such a masterpiece 👌🏽
Brian went ape shit on this record! I absolutely love the newly high pitch highs in a few of the tracks . This album has been on absolute repeat since it dropped. So riff (metal) heavy, and melodic throughout. INFECTIOUS, overall. This & Heavener are the 2 top of Metalcore for me, thus far, this year.
This album is a FORCE!!! Every song is so freaking great, but Remember Me grips me so tight and never let’s go. Can’t even process how incredible these dudes are with creating music. So happy they exist 😭🤘🏻❤️🔥
What can't brian do. Loving gone astray. You could say some songs sound a little similar but even better for me since i love the way they went on that album.
Great seeing you listen! By the way Rachelle, something I noticed is the audio level of your voice tends to be quite low, it'd be great if it was a little higher in the mix cause with such a bassy record I find myself nearly waking up the neighbors just to hear you hehe.
HHahaha I just love that reaction @ 24:20. By FAR my most favorite breakdown and riff on the album. No matter how many times I listen to it, it hits me right how it seemed to hit you in this video :D:D
i love the album but ngl i was really hoping for chris to do those vocals that he does for shadow of intent in at least one song. His vocals are godly imo. Maybe next album.
Hey @RachelleReacts, A little late to the party, but I'm right there with you concerning Living In Tragedy. Monster track that just connected with me on so many, many levels. IA and Currents owning my playlist this year!! 🤘🤘🤘
Vengeance was a track that I really liked when it came out then I found myself really cooling on it and going back to Remember Me and TDWS a lot more. But now within the context of the album, I have a whole new appreciation for that track.
Was a bit underwhelmed after the first listen but after hearing it a bunch since it came out it has grown on me a ton. Brian REALLY shined on this record. Still doesn't quite beat Heavener tho...😂
I love Currents and glad to see a fellow fan. Took me a couple listens to get a grip on the album, many times felt like so many layers and instrumental changes were happening so fast it wasn't something I used to hear from them but I love this album nonetheless
The Way It Ends is still my favourite Currents album as it's basically perfect imo, but this album was also super solid and contains some of their best songs
Just saw them in concert a few weeks ago I was so hype and they will be back next month lol I gotta see them twice! They werent headlining last time. Living in Tragedy just hits me so different so many chills it's so good I listened to it so many times before even listening to the entire album lol
I'm not going to lie, I have never gotten so emotional (ugly tears) listening to a metal song the way I did with Remember Me. While that, and many other tracks, are amazing on this album, the title track TDWS is still TOTY for me! Loved hearing your thoughts, as always! Thank you for jamming to this with me 🤘😝🤘
This is my second listen through now and I have enjoyed it a lot more than the first! The only track which I didn't love was "Gone Astray", the chorus didn't really do anything for me. As for favourites I think "Beyond this Road" and "Living in Tragedy" are my top 2 currently! Will need more listens but this probably will place in my top 10, just need to figure out where! Also, really love that Currents shirt!
Love this album. It’s officially my second favorite after the place I feel safest now. Always been a bigger fan of the “classic” metal core sound. Maybe I’m just old but none the less they’ve yet to release and album I don’t like.
Feelings evolving about this album. I was pretty sure is a good album bit. No... It's a great album who stay in my head. Also Guide us Home... That chorus... I can die now. Thanks Currents for job ❤❤❤❤❤
*pauses video* “if I cry, from this album, you owe me your head lol” #djinnmetal2023 #djinngods #guardianofthegalaxyvol5 #djent #metal #The #Breakdown #Paradox 😂😂😂❤
This album is just good to me. The singles had me thinking that this was going to be on par with Heavener but that’s just not the case for me. Living In Tragedy and Over and Over were great but the rest of the non-singles left much to be desired. It doesn’t help that every song pretty much follows the same song structure and there’s not really any song here that quite sweeps me off my feet while on The Way It Ends it felt as if that was every other song. Good effort, but not quite enough variety and a terrible mix. Overall 7/10.
We need to stop comparing this album to Heavener from invent animate it's pretty unfair for currents this album is great all in its own but I will say the way it ends and The Place I feel Safest is still stronger then this one imo anyways
