Love how you explain things. We did math mammoth for grade 7, we liked it although we did switch. The word roots with tree is grades 5-12+. Looks like yours is for younger than that. For spelling, we like writing on window with white board marker, it's fun. I wish my kids read that much and they're older. We are doing doctor Dolittle and charlottes web this year with my grade 5.

We have been using Writing and Rhetoric and it starts gentle, but it does advance fairly quickly, especially for a 3rd grader. As you advance in these books it will teach you essay writing and outlines. It does not have much grammar, so I do recommend adding in grammar, especially for kids in 4th or 5th grade.
