I love and appreciate your efforts to make history unbiased!! I think it's harder for people to recognize the Eurocentric bias in history curricula more so than creation in science curricula... I would love to see more about History Quest!

Thank you! It became much more obvious when I compared curriculums. You don't know what you don't know! Hopefully, the Middles Ages of History Quest will be out soon and I can do a video showing both the ancient and medieval volumes.

In case you haven’t seen them, Hana at Pepper and Pine has shared some a lot of her medieval Africa resources an picture books and they look really interesting and might fit into your plans. Please be sure to share all your book choices too! Thanks!

I love Hana! I did see her medieval Africa resources and got many of them! She is such a wonderful person to follow! And I will definitely share my book choices, I just need to figure out how to categorize them and I do like to read them first. 😉

I’ve been following along with your planning and it’s fun to see how you process it all ... I feel like I do the same thing with adjusting and switching, I just have to stop myself at some point 🤣. Congrats on 1K!!

Yes, the stopping myself is the hard part! And thanks! It looks like you are getting close to 1k yourself!! 😃

If you were a brand new homeschooling family starting Summer 2021with soon-to-be 2nd and 4th graders and you planned on doing an overview of ancient history this Summer and starting Middle Ages text school year, and you wanted mostly secular what would you pick? I was leaning toward SOTW for ancient history and maybe History Quest for the Middle Ages. Thoughts? I really don’t want 2 spines at the same time, sourcing the accompanying literature is going to be hard enough for me.

Why not History Quest for both Ancient and Middle Ages? The one downside would be that History Quest is a little longer than Story of the World, but I prefer it (1) because it is completely secular, and (2) I think it gives a more complete view of Ancient History. I also really like the history hops chapters, but if you were short on time, you could skip them. And you can keep any accompanying literature or activities really simple. Obviously, you should do whatever works for you, so if you prefer Story of the World, that's fine! (Side note - Pandia Press is having their March sale right now, so if you want to purchase History Quest it is a great time to do so!) Good luck!
