Curry leaves are used for making sambar powder and for seasoning sambar

I think the name curry leaves comes from its Tamil name 'karuveppilai' meaning dark neem leaf. The first part of the name stuck as it's English version I guess.

The Brits came up with 'curry' powder. It's a mix of coriander seed powder, chili powder, turmeric and other spices. Indians dont have an ingredient called curry powder

Indians don't use curry powder. In India every "curry" has its own spice blend, that's why every "curry" tastes different. Curry powder is not completely British, because its based off of 'Garam masala'.

Hey Sarah good to see your food forest, I love watching all your videos. In this video specifically I wanted to respond about curry leaves conversation with the video man. Actually the Tamil name for this leaf is called "Karu Veppilai" its a family of Veppilai (Neem). Karu means black, since this leaf is dark in color, thats where the name " Curry Leaf" came into existence. Predominantly this is used in south Indian cuisine.

All the dishes in South India gets a hot oil seasoning. In that hot oil curry leaves are added. The aroma and flavor is heavenly.

Hi from Australia , we have a curry leaf plant that grow next to the outdoor gas heater and it produced so many leaves that mum's friends and even the Sri lankan nearby come and get curry leaves haha
