Here's a weekly, Friday at Noon, test of one of Rushville's six, electric sirens, installed and built by a local company called Custer Electric.
This siren is located on 8th and Jackson. Rushville also has a Model 2 and a Model A. I'm assuming they're still used for backup. All of their sirens are located in close proximity to each other, so coverage is actually pretty good. This siren was no ear-piercer by any means but was much louder than expected. I could also hear others clearly in the background. Each setup consists of Universal Sound Cobreflex II Speaker arrays coupled to a control box and a solar panel. The sirens run strictly off that solar panel as there is no rectifier. Wiring is also a bit of a mess and yes, that's the battery up there fully exposed. They do, however, make routine inspections and do a full checkup once a year.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!
