Major Marcus Reno’s life was filled with set-backs.
Orphaned by the age of 15, he secured a position at the United States Military Academy at West Point, but it took him six years to graduate.
Reno served in the Army with distinction and was rapidly promoted during the Civil War, but his time with Custer’s Seventh Cavalry during the Indian Wars, especially after the Battle of the Little Bighorn, was rocky at best.
His military career ended in scandal and disgrace.
Did he deserve it?

Couple errors noticed after posting:
*Reno graduated from West Point in 1857
*Custer's column/the Seventh Cavalry left the Yellowstone on June 22
*It is Godfrey who says "ghastly and sickening horror"
