Cool car. A couple fact checks though. 1. The 325is doesn't come with a "bigger motor" 2.7. 2. The 325is didn't come out until 1987. This car is a 325es which did come with a 2.7. 3. There's absolutely no way that engine in that configuration makes 286whp.

Nice car, but as a BMW mechanic from Germany I say your power figures are a lie!!! A 2.7 l ETA motor with a M20 2.5 cylinder head and a good tune will make 200-210 crank hp!

Did he really just try and bullshit an NA m20 is 300hp? A 2.7 stroker at best is cracking 200 at the crank, and even the most high strung motors will not come near 300 without some serious machine work, and it certainly isn't happening with the stock intake manifold.

Mine is stroke out close to 2.9 with all the goodies internal, run on 111 octane lead race gas. I be lucky if it get 225hp.

nice car but no way 290hp to the wheels. S52 with built internals, higher compression etc won't even get to 290whp.

Is nobody gonna mention that, in the US, the 325is came stock with a 2.5 liter m20b25, and not the 2.7? The 2.7 was in the “efficient” model with less hp and more torque, the 325e/es. The guy doesn’t know much about these and it shows, not that it detracts from the car. It’s very clean.

Not too sure about those HP numbers but this is one clean build. Simple (minus the dash of course) and handling focused. That old I6 is still one of the best sounds around.

298rwhp m20 ! is it a 3.1l stroker ? even then they make 250 at the high end. Love the car !

I've never seen a m20 make that much power without FI. Even a 3.1 stroker with high compression pistons won't make more than 230-240 maybe horsepower.

Shawn, you do crack me up sometimes! When Steven mentioned "...we can get a little air today" the look you gave him was priceless. My first car was a 1967 BMW 1600 (2nd was a '69 2002) when I was stationed on a ship in San Diego, in 1969. A couple shipmates and I used to head out of town to met some girls a couple of hours north and on one of my favorite backroads, there was a bend to the right, a long curve to the left, and a hump over a little stream where a concrete bridge was. I could get air every time we crossed that bridge at about 90 mph and I didn't touch down for about a hundred feet. It wasn't like I was really "FLYING," the road just dropped away a bit and away we went. The first time I did that with a new passenger, he just about pissed his britches and the two guys in the back laughed for about a mile!! That was THE topic of conversation when we got back to the ship, for the next couple of days... good memories and good times. ;^)

Nice car. However, here are some facts about the 1985-1987 325e/es vs the 1988-1990 325i/is and the "325ix" all wheel drive E30. BMW never made a 325is in 1986. The 1986 e30's were the 325e and the 325es. The "S" is for sport. It had a better suspension, different front seats, and the computer in the dash that the "e" version didn't come with. There are similar differences between the "i" vs "is" from 1988-1990. Both the 325e and 325es had the 2.7L M20 inline 6. The 2.7L M20 engine is a higher torque, lower RPM engine than the 1988-1990 325i and 325is which had the 2.5L M50 engine. I know because I've owned a 1986 325es with the 2.7L M20 engine since 1995. Anyone trying to sell a 1985 through 1987 325 claiming it's an "i" or an "is" is either lying, was lied to when they bought it, a 1988-1990 i/is engine swap was done, or the engine was MODIFIED. A number of PRE 1988 325 owners modified the 2.7L by installing the M50 head, cam, pistons, etc which created a better engine with more torque and horsepower than the original 1988 325i/is 2.5L M50 engine. If you bought a 1985-1987 325 and were told it was an i/is, check the serial number on the engine and verify it with BMW. If anyone doesn't believe me, do some research, ask any BMW gear head, any long time BMW club member, or call BMW. I hope this clarifies the differences between the 1985-1987 325e/es and the 1988-1990 325i/is/ix. One last note. The 2.7L engine in the 325e/es originally came from the 1982 525e/es because BMW was saving big money not developing a brand new engine, which would have to pass EPA standards, for the brand new 1985 325e/es.

I love that E30 absolutely live it, the design and way he built it to be driven hard is perfect, is it for sale?!!!... it keeps asking for more great build great builder!! Keep up the content in the process of designing a cage for my Mustang now!! This gave me the idea to add the lights in the cage and wireing.. great work

I own a e90 3-series. Biturbo. Max tune on stock internals. Pushes 355 to the wheels. This claim of 300 to the wheels is nonsense, or the dynometer used was Made in Russia.

I love my e30. I have a 1989 BMW 325i sedan. same wheelbase as the coupe, just a slight bit heavier, with a more rigid frame. has racing headers, and a mtech kit.

You can't have 300 hp with a M20 2.7 aspirated, plus you have a single throttle body. If you build a it clean you can reach 220 Hp and maybe 250Hp with a single throttle valve kit. With all the comment about 325 not making close to 300hp, you guys are right. My 3.1 stroked m20 makes 220whp tops on pump gas. And I have all internals gutted. Only left ITB on engine mod...

Why bother keeping the rear seats? With the cage, anybody riding back there is just asking for brain trauma in even a minor accident. Standard 3 point seatbelts also less than ideal with factory style headrests.

That's a pretty decent car, the HP figures said in the video are just not true, and sort of "embarrassed" the video... Even the owner doesn't seem to believe quite well when said how much power it has. Or maybe the mechanic told him that. If that's true, make a part two with a dino maybe

What bs.. my s50 was making close to 300 and had light flywheels 24 lbs injectors and a ton of work chip plus plus plus . So dont post 300. Never ever

9:00 My ear-dyno doesn't hear anything near 300 hp. Those are some TALL GEARS.. He may have forged the bottom end, but he must have neglected the cam, heads, and injectors. He might be at 220hp on a cold day. It sounds nice, but he's nowhere near 260hp.
