It's a new thing, yeah, there's AI helis, planes, and boats going around their own little missions. I don't know what vehicles they actually use though.
It's a bit of a rough request, but... could you please by any chance make a guide or something on how to take weapons dlc AI vehicles from their folder, edit them ingame or something, then put their modified version back in? This would allow for some really cool (even if laggy) things to be done. For example, I noticed that dlc Destroyers just... don't sink. No matter how many times I hit them perfectly below the waterline, all they will do is just burn cuz of engine fire and eventually explode. I don't think there's a pump in em or anything, I think the reason this happens might be a physics flooder. Or maybe just a bug, I don't know... But I'd really like to actually sink them realistically instead of them just going poof immediately or not do anything as the only alternative. And, making them... hijackable would likewise be awesome. Or people could make them breakable through connectors potentially, or make a fully fledged interior to them where you have to break through doors to get to the crew and kill them (if the devs would even let us do that at least...) I've already made 2 versions of modified weapons DLC destroyers and also a modified patrol boat since I know where to find the necessary folders, but simply putting them back/overwriting their old xml files will simply cause them to never spawn - or at least I've never seen any of the vehicles from the types I modified ever spawn again -, I wonder how the spawning really works. The devs have left a comment in the weapons_dlc_ai folder's LUA file, that contains basic guidelines to follow when "adding new vehicles to the list of enemy ai". I think that guide is inadequate tho, I was only able to resort to my own logic to get where I am right now - still having not accomplished what I wanted. *TLDR: Please make a "how to add/modify weapons dlc enemy ai" tutorial video* if possible, I'd really appreciate it!
I think it would be a cool idea if people couLd kill captains and hyjack their boats. Also I steal of having to go through and add 100 things to make ai used something what if while in the build editor there could be a quick setting that configures bots to be controlled by ai then you could do the mission thing. Just an idea lol
Yeah... About that. Stormworks used to have a pretty lay-friendly mission editor that didn't require you to learn the entirety of LUA scripting from the beginning to the end. I've already learned Python, am mid learning C#... I could really use a break from programming just for the duration of playing games lol But nope, apparently the devs wanna take out the fun from everything even tho they work a lot to make their game great with hundreds of features at the same time... I really wish we could get damaged vehicles breaking up, I really wish we could do the very hijacking thing you said just for fun, I really wish weapons dlc enemies would sink, like heck, they already slowmo my potato to sh*t so who cares, I wanna sink big destroyers! I literally have the urge to go to the game files and "fix" these "bugs" by myself. Of course there is an unthinkable amount of barriers in the way of that... But I genuinely wanna figure out the latter. I've already found their files, exported em to the ingame editable vehicles folder, edited em, put em back overwriting the vanilla vehicles, but now these modified vehicles do not spawn despite having the same xml file name and everything. I wish there was an actual guide to do this, I'mma ask NJ because I can't figure out half of it in a lifetime. lol
