How to Add a Custom Field on Termination Screen?
To terminate an employee in the system we go to “Actions” on the top right of the screen and use the “Terminate” action to terminate the employee. This is called as the “Termination Screen”.
The Hire and the Termination records are maintained on the Employment Information Portlet so the termination screen is a part of the Employment Information. Any field that needs to be added on the Termination Screen should be added in the Employment Information Portlet. It is one of the important sections to show or to configure the fields in order to store the employee’s data in Employee Central.
There are scenarios where we need to add a custom field to Employment Information Portlet that needs to be visible only on the Termination record and NOT on the HIRE record. Many times we end up adding a custom field in the employment details portlet by using the custom fields of different data types provided in the “Manage Business Configuration” but it does not show on the termination portlet or screen but it shows either on the Employment Details section on the Employee Profile or on the hire screen.
This is because there are different set of custom fields which are shown on the employment information screen and on the termination screen of the UI. The employment information screen is many times referred to as the hire screen as well. These fields can be of different data types including string, date, long and double.
Specific custom fields are reserved both for the termination portlet and for the employment information portlet. These fields can be used for data which is not covered by the standard supplied fields.
Follow the below steps in order to add a custom field on the termination portlet of the Employment Details section:
• Navigate to Admin Centre and search for the action “Manage Business Configuration”.
• Search for “Employment Info” section in the Business Configuration UI.
• Add a new custom-date4 field. This field shows on the employment details portlet but not while terminating employees from the “Take Action” - Terminate.
• This is because, as per Data Object Tables provided for the solution custom-date4 is for the hire screen and not for the termination screen.
• Select one of the custom date from 6-20 or 66-90 to show the date on the termination record.
• Move the field to the required position by using the arrow on the right and click on save to save the object.
