Totally love this one, Jim. The patina (very well done), the wheel swap, just the right amount of decals... That's some serious firepower up top too! But I love the air cleaner over the velocity stacks the most. That's an addition I haven't seen before. Nice touch! 🍁☕👍

Thanks so much Andrew! I couldn't resist putting something over those velocity stacks lol - I haven't seen it before either and I knew I wanted something to give it a "tough" look as well - fortunately I had a few little bits laying around that could have worked and I just chose the one that seemed to fit the build best. The other thing I did that was different than my "usual" approach was the intentional angling of the pipes in the window openings -- usually I do either bars as straight as possible or some kind of mesh. I realized that probably wasn't very realistic so I tweaked things a little from my usual. Thanks for watching!

I really wish, just for fun, you would take a cheap, beat to hell casting and give it a try. It's actually a lot more fun and relaxing than other types of building, and a great change of pace now and then.

Kind thought, Jim, but I'll have to decline - I cannot do the small stuff because my eyes sometimes let me down already at 1:43, AND I am well aware of the limits of my own patience! I have, on the bench, a Humber, a Land Rover, a Jaguar, a Morris 1000, a Scammell Scarab, a Ford D-Series transporter and four other light commercials all under process or awaiting the knife for Code3, an unfinished street scene diorama and there's a half-painted Westland helicopter kit that has been the subject of gross procrastination for far too long! I dare not take on anything else.

looks great, and not as corroded as other gaslands vehicles; this one is really cared for. :) as for the air filter, this is wat struck me a little wrong seeing the 4th Mad Max movie, the lack of any air filtering in an environment where sand storms occur. the fine dust sucked in becomes an abrasive paste together with the engine oil, and would wear out the engine in short time. but that might be the car mechanic in me... :)

Thanks Lothar! The "not as corroded" was exactly what I had in mind, and the reason behind the selection of the color. I wanted it to show rusting, fuel spills by the gas cap, etc, without being the usual extreme...and the lighter color for the car let me do that. Ahhhhhhh...the air filter lol - my thoughts exactly - I had a few pieces that would have worked, and give the "tough" look I wanted, with the one I chose being the one that seemed to "fit" the look the best.

🤣🤣🤣 Thanks Mike! Funny you should mention that about group builds, because I have a personal "rule" for those too (to minimize stress) - I don't sign up to participate ahead of time. Usually the first time anyone finds out I'm taking part in a build is when they get a glamour shot for the recap video (if they're doing one) lol. I can't hit the event schedules as well as I once did, and I don't need the stress of looming deadlines hanging over me lol

Yes...well, almost always lol. There are some situations where I can't use them, such as with the REALLY small posts that require a 1-72 screw (there may be self tapping 1-72 screws out there - I've never tried them if they're available), but otherwise I would think they would do fine. There's a certain satisfaction with drilling and tapping a post for regular screws, so I use them in most situations, but it's not like we put these little cars under much stress so the self tapping screws should be fine.
