Custom Hot Wheels GMC Motorhome - Tribute to the Palmer Designs 2013 Bonneville Speed Week Entry! I’ve had this casting sitting around for a while now (wow…just checked…I stripped it in June of 2022 in hopes of doing something with it…and didn’t do it until November 2023) and recently came across some images of the 2013 GMC Motorhome taken to Bonneville Speed Week by Palmer Designs. Just the inspiration I needed to complete the build. Doing this was a lot of fun and I hope you like the end result as much as I do! #hotwheels #bonneville speed week #gmc motorhome

Thanks GW! It was a blast to build...and sometimes you just get lucky and the colored glass actually works well with a build instead of clashing with it. I absolutely loved the look of the glass on this build.

This RV ( = Racing Vehicle 😉) looks great. The casting is a heavy piece of metal. So during the construction you also had some sort of training at the same time. I love your humor: A chrome steering wheel in the heat of Bonneville. ☀🌞The driver has fun! 👋🤏😂

Thanks Eddie! I won one of the jigs in Paul Fat Guy Productions Christmas giveaways last year. For some reason, I always just catch myself holding things to drill them (and staying lucky so far lololol). The jig is so easy to use and yet I'm so damn lazy (it's about one foot in front of me on the bench lol)

Cool! Another one that might be fun to try with this casting; is the Lone Star 5 from "Space Balls". Not sure if it had tandem wheels in the back though, so maybe not.

It seems like I remember someone doing one of those...but heck if I can remember who (and now I'm wondering if I'm getting it confused with a guy who made rc flying versions of various tv/movie crafts...and even made an actually flying version of the flying toaster from the old After Dark screen saver).

interesting. :) nice and shiny. ^^ funny thing, here on YT some family are restoring one of these on the side, which they dragged off an abandoned houses' premises. :) they are quite big, real motorhomes. :)

@@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms absolutely. I was also surprised how well they constructed the thing, GFK here, aluminium there, independent rear axles with air ride to keep the floor even and as low as possible... and a 454 big block by Oldsmobile as well as the front wheel drive in the front. XD

Mattel had to truncate the GMC Motorhome behind the rear axle to keep the casting at three inches. In real life, I believe you'd be losing a lot of the Master Bedroom area if a GMC Motorhome was lopped like the Hot Wheels version. I really wish Hot Wheels would do a perfectly scaled 1/64 scale GMC Motorhome in Team Transport although some people would probably complain if there's no car with it.

Ahhhhh...that makes sense as to why the casting is a little different than the real thing.
