Yeah, great job ! If NECA did the same paintjob on their figures they would cost about 10 times more. NECA does a real great paintjob considerin the price of their products.
Great video and an amazing work! It would be great if you could run us through the process like what made you want to change/modify the look and perhaps slow down the time lapse in between and give us a bit of explanation of what you were currently doing at the time of the recording. It's hard to catch on with your work in progress when everything is going too fast but otherwise, you did a really good job w the figure. Looking at mine now looks pretty bland
He did explain as he went along, the speed is prob done to j show a quick idea of what to do and not present this for someone to try and imitate step by step. Best way to gain the highest quality results is thru practice!
You would get more veiws if you did more custom figure videos your very talented at it and amazing with predators i also do repaint and armor switches with neca predators ...
Suberp job mate!!!, I hate the yellow the tones on most of the Predators, but to repaint all of them is a pain in the ass sometimes, lol. Looks amazing with the LED too!!!
Mine didn't have the head splotch and such severe paint apps but I always (at a minimum) touch up Neca predators right when I first get them/decide I'm never going to resell them anyway. Nice improvement/well done. Always be careful when applying any sort of clear coating because it will smear/remove the paint on the surface you're applying it to.
If I ever do this to my figure I would change the led a light green blue because in the movie the stargazer lab mask the eye flash was a light green blue but the original mask in the movie had a orange/red eye flash
Tip for the light°: Paint the inside of the front black [except eyes] Paint the back of the head & eyes white This will improve the glow ° _[I know this vid is a year+ old, so disregard tip if irrelevant]_
I'm just now wanting to learn how to custom my figures. I own mostly neca figures and I would love to repaint some especially my dawn planet of the apes caesar and koba figure without the war paint. Do you think you could make a tutorial on those to figures especially koba? They did not make him accurate to the film at all with his fur missing on his back and right bicep. Thinking of doing this myself with the Ahab figure. When you do the wash, do you literally water down the paint you're using? Then rub with paper towel? Then for dry brushing do you put a small amount of paint, brush most of it away on card or whatever, then lightly apply it onto the figure? Finally, for the mod podge, do you water it down? Or do you just go straight in with a thin layer? Never done this before haha, but have painting experience. Just not with figures.... Thanks!
Nice work man digging those LEDs makes him pop, hey what did you use take apart like that? I'm try mod custom some of my preds but never full took them apart maybe arm,leg or two is as far I've come that's just repair QC stuff lol.
KOOL'MAN KIETH thanks for the kind words. If you take a hair dryer to him and heat him up, everything can be taken apart so easily. All the plastic becomes very soft and easy to work with. This helps with reassembling him too.
@@Egrka no problem man you superb job, sweet beats slower process which I've done in the past. Btw did you cut the armor off him from the back? I plan on base mine off of Milena zdravkovic concept on fugitive earlier stage of his design which bit more flat, I'm hoping get some paint soon start up the project. But will doing Ahab first cause he bit more easy most it repainting the armor for more accurate comic book look I did eyes already.
Great coloring on this. Wish you did it slower. Would show us more detail on what all involved. I'm looking to do one but searching for a host predator to do. Anyway helpful things for us what tools used? What colors used? Size of brushes used? Etc. List things that would help us. Thanks. Thumbs up
What do you recommend to gloss a figure...you said the gamvar isn't any good...did you use modge podge over the gamvar? Doesn't midge podge dry sticky as well?...great job btw👌
James Jones I left the gamvar parts as is. I didn’t go over them with mod podge. Also, mod podge doesn’t dry sticky or tacky. Alternatives can be clear gloss nail polish, or clear gloss from a spray paint can (krylon, Utrecht, etc). Thanks!

Yuma Darkar you’re going to want to seal it with something. I have figures ive painted with acrylic and didn’t seal. After years the paint is still on there, no flaking. But something can easily scratch the paint off. I recommend sealing it.
