In the early sixties, my parents had a 19' Chris-Craft Barrelback. We worked our asses off rebuilding it, then it got wrecked while on the trailer being towed to the have the new seats put in, but I'll always remember the good times we did have with it. Thanks for sharing, and hope you get a good return on your effort.
So what happened, did it get wrecked to the point where it was considered a gonner? What a shame if that's what happened. I hope it wasn't because it wasn't tied down!
Your covering boards came out nicely, Not green looking.. But did you stain them black like it should be? or cheat and thin down some black paint? seen that done far to many times.. and the upholstery could be a bit neater. Another question, is it an epoxy or 5200 bottom? hope 5200. skipped the bottom planking in the video
Michelle Ross looks like they painted the covering boards which are not supposed to be black or dark walnut. The dark walnut is for the 20’s and early 30’s boats.
That is absolutely a piece of beautiful functional ski boat artwork! Please have in it your heart to email me a copy of your blueprints. I'd love to build this! And believe me, I'll do it justice with have 2 trades in woodworking and construction so your name can be on a plark somewhere in the boat or on the rear cvoner or something. Beautiful work mate! 😎👍🍻😎
As a former cabinet maker, who's boat building experience consists of a single stitch and glue kayak kit, just let me say this is absolutely gorgeous work! Thanks for sharing.
That my friend... is dead sexy! I love the exposed shift linkages and that steering wheel!!! The gauges are like fine Swiss watches. This runabout with that level of interior would be unbelievably beautiful. I totally understand period correctness, but the level of craftsmanship that went into the boat screams for the same in the interior. Have a great day!
hi everyone ,if anyone else wants to discover plans to build a wooden boat try *Enlarbo Boat Builder Wizard* (just google it ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my neighbor got great results with it.
I like how you altered the order of some of the top construction, perhaps to throw people for a loop as to how things were done? lol, I don't blame you. Also missed a few steps like the final solid piece of transom and some other things here and there. The design and shape especially the curf and curve of the hull at the stern and that shape of the transom is just outstanding. The music helps as well. Cheers.
That's something special, I started with wooden boats, then as most, ended up building grp boats, and hated almost every minute of it! "anyone can mould a grp boat but few have the skills to build a wooden boat"
I appreciate the wonderful woodwork (and the great music). I fish in the gulf quite often. If you were 30 miles out would you rather have a wood boat or a fiberglass sandwich hull? Wood boats are beautiful for lakes and rivers and I love them, but you have to think about your passengers safety.. I have to think about safety all the time as most folks are idiots when it comes to being on the water. Sorry if I came off a bit harsh.
Wooden boats have been at sea for quite a few years. You can have the strongest Hull in the boating world but if a hose splits or a skinfitting fails... wood or GRP it's sinking.
Those party people were born before the A bomb and some people were unfortunate to be born after the A bomb and its changed the world! Deal with it! Social butterflies by now have realised they were completely wrong to destroy the children's future, now the children have grown up, they get to speak. Endless partying kills the children born into that craziness.
