So can I have a button that says add, much like a job application does with your work history experience, that adds the same columns over again for the user to fill out? I have form where they may need to identify several people responsible for a project. They'd need to add each person's name and email, but the number of people may vary. Does that make sense?

Hi Shane! Thanks for your series, I saw all of them by now and its a LOT of info.. I have a 'nice to have' suggestion: Could you edit your description texts so that they include a sort of content table, preferably by function and/or best practice tips? I sometimes spend an hour just trying to find what you said about something because I just know I heard you say it at some point somewhere.. :)

Hi Shane..Your videos are always helpful! Can you suggest, Is it okay to use power app for customizing SharePoint forms if I have just taken trial of power app for 1 month for form customization, later I wont be able to update any changes in that form if required, as trial version will end. We are not going to buy power app license .Also after using power app & going back to Default form it is also rolling back all the formatting done tooltip etc.

Hi Shane, been loving your vids all day and learning lots!! I need to create a form that the user will submit which is then submitted to an admin team that will then need to complete a different form. Both forms will write to the same SP list. It so sounds possible but just unsure of how it will work.. (Form is to log a call with a maintenance team, flow will send notification to the team, once the team has completed they will then update the item to say complete and other items)

Thanks for showing the tip for reverting back to the default sharepoint edit screen. I followed your steps and it worked great. Now, however, I want to go back to using the sharepoint form I created. I reversed the steps, selecting "Use custom form created in PowerApps." However, whenever I try to edit an item on my sharepoint list, the default edit screen appears instead of my custom form. I have tried opening and closing my browsers, using the default list again, and nothing works to show my form. Any ideas on what happened here?

I can't understand why there is a demonstration to email people when there isn't even a button to save the data which one would think is absolutely essential. It looks like there's videos specifically catered to saving however, and your material is always amazing so I should stop grumbling.

The save button in this scenario comes from the SharePoint Integration. You don't need on in your app. You set the OnSave property and that is how it is controlled. :)

Just found your channel, the video helped a lot. I also watched your video on making the form look more like InfoPath. When customizing a SharePoint list, how do you make the list pop out bigger? I would like the New, Edit & Display to be the hole screen like InfoPath does. We have forms that are filled out and then printed most of the time with Logo’s addresses… Thanks keep it up.

Yes. Then have a button that saves (patch) the input of the two controls.

Hi Shane, thanks for the great form. Sheet building beautiful and working forms, I have up because I couldn't find a solution for double scroll bars. When I open the SharePoint form in a full screen, there are two scrollbar shown, one of the screen and another of form. Changing the size of form is making the entire form scattered. Can you advise of a solution? I would be really thankful.

Is there any way to mix regular labels or controls in with controls/cards for a SharePoint form? You alluded to a warning concerning this around 13:30 so I'm thinking maybe not. But for example, add a text box that provides explanatory text (more than what you would include in a tooltip) alongside or beneath a data entry control.

Yes. You can throw a custom card on there and then just add a label with your info. No problem.

Hello Shane, I have one question please. I did a custom sharepoint list form in power apps, and I have some data cards imported from another sharepoint list, based on column that is found in both sharepoint lists, let's call it the connector. Based on the connector, I have different label data cards (I mean data cards that only show information) from the imported sharepoint list. The things work fine if I'm using Edit or View form, though when I'm New Form, after selecting something (choice data card) the label data cards who populate from connector don't update in real time. They update only after submitting the form. Is there a way to update them on real time ?

Look at your connected data. Are you possible referencing the field value for the lookup instead of the control? In that case the field would be blank for new items but not for existing.

Great videos! I am trying to create a powerapp form for a task list created by a SP 2013 Workflow. I don't get the same behavior as with a standard SP list ie the edit screen on the right side. Is there something special about task lists created from a SP 2013 WF and powerapps?

Yeah. The list is to be a modern list and I think tasks are not.

Hi Shane, great videos! I have a question about the forms. I created a custom form using powerapps fine and all the functionality is correct. However, if a user was to use the sharepoint mobile app to browse to the list the add new item form on that mobile app does not grab the powerapp form. Do you know where the settings to point the mobile sharepoint app to the powerapp form would be?

Hi Shane, love your videos. Quick question: Have you ever found a way to open the PowerApp modal window from a custom web page within SharePoint?, I mean not directly from the "Edit" button on the list, but in a web part page with a custom button? (I was able to open the custom SharePoint list form in the SP.ModalDialog, but, of course, that modal doesn`t give you the toolbar at the top (with Save and Cancel buttons), so, even if I can add those buttons to the app directly, obviously I`m not able to close the SP.ModalDialog from the app itself, so that`s why I`m looking for a way to use the default modal. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Shane, great video's! I've been trying to embed the app to a sharepoint page, so that colleagues can use the app to add new entries to the list. However, I can't find my app ID. The "share" button for the app is greyed out and hovering over it bring up the popup: "To share your list and form, go to sharepoint online". I don't understand how I can find the app ID in Sharpoint online. I haven't been able to find a video on this. Can you help?

Hi Shane! I am trying to find a way to increase file attachment size so people can attach a 1gb video file to the form that is a PowerApps form feeding a SharePoint List. Is that even possible? Currently, what we have is a text field where they share a link to a shared file on their OneDrive folder...

Nope. As far as I know 50 mb is the hard limit for files.

Hi Shane - I see how you added a label on a blank form, but how do you add a label at the top of your new or edit form (i.e. I want to provide a short paragraph of instructions at the top of the customized list form. I can add the label but after an hour of trying I cannot see how to "push" the columns down. My label just overlaps the form columns. Please tell me there is an easy way. Thanks! I have 2 tabs for Sharepoint: main page and another one with powerapp AskAndShare where people can ask questions. To the main page I wanted to add 2 last questions from AskAndShare, so people can in easy way see if something was updated, without switching the screens. I managed to add it, however it is showing all questions that have been asked, not only 2 last ones. Is there some easy fix for it?

Hi Shane. This is brilliant! I have run into one issue though.... How can this be done when there are multiple content types please? I've built a Employee Appraisal list with two CT's, and would like to have a button on each form so send the data to the employee being appraised. If i add the button, it removes the second form and the ability to switch between the two. Regards PMD

Hi Shane ! I LOVE your Videos, they really make my moving from Infopath to PowerApps to fun and easy but still there are some issues that I miss like the Easy designing (few controls at once) and aligning, guess I'll have to get use to that.. In my organization I need to create forms in hebrew (RTL alignment) but I can't find a way to right align text inside drop down control.. I hope you can help me that.. 10X :)

Got a question: when using the Sharepoint Integration and you change the background fill for the form it doesn't fill the bottom of the browser screen. I know we can go in and adjust the overall length of the page in settings, but is there a more dynamic way? One which allows for when people have different browser sizes? Thank you :)

Hey Shane, thanks for the great videos. Question about PowerApps security management. For users to use the form they need to PowerApps license with that they also get the ability to customize the form or create new apps. We are using PowerApps for O365 license which comes with the default environment and does not give the option to manage security for environments. Is there any way to give users 'Can use' permission?

You can give a user the permissions to only use the app. In SharePoint take away their ability to customize the list and they cannot customize the form.

Hi Shane, is there a way to create a Form that has a default the current user? I included into the DefaultSelctedItem of the combobox the code "Ofice365Users.MyProfile()" this shows the user contact by default but does not submit when I submit the form. Any solution?

@@ShanesCows I did, and I used the video to and it works in preview but it does not work from the sharepoint list. When I looked at other resources, they say that the print function has a known limitation with sharepoint custom forms

Can use the View Name in PowerApps? I'm mean you have a view which shows only a few columns but if you now click on edit of form will open will columns which I can change. But I would like to make a column invisible depending on which view I'm using.

Nope. ShaerPoint views aren't supported.

SharePoint owns the app and you cannot access it outside of this interface. It is only a custom form for SharePoint

Hey Shane, I don't know if this has been asked already but is there a way to backup the PowerApps List Form to be used as a template on multiple lists and on multiple sites, etc? I don't want to have to create the same design template over and over again so I thought I'd ask before I do that. Thanks.

Shane, thanks for this great work. Do you have any ideas as to why my Sharepoint list forms customized in PowerApps are appearing all blank when I publish them back to Sharepoint as well as in Preview mode in PowerApps?

Check the Items property of the form and the form mode. One of those two is off causing your issue.

Is there a way to make the form a part of a different sharepoint page? For example. I have a list of different products. There is a sharepoint page for each product type (the list has several products of each product type). I would like the form for populating the list to appear as a part of each product type page, so that a user can go to a product type page and add a product to the main list without having to go to the product list.

I have a scenario where the User A fills 3 forms in 3 different screens and one of the field is a people picker field and its something like : Qa reviwer . once the details are filled all this data sits in SP list and trigger and email to the QA reviewer . The main thing comes here : QA reviewer needs to click the link and go to screen number 4 and 5 where he needs to perform his duties and should have only view access to entire record filled by the user . the 3 screen filled by user A should be view mode and screen 4 and 5 in edit . What i the best way to achieve this? how would i prepopulate the items from SP ? in powerapps ? please advice

Is powerapps browser dependant? I have seen form behaviour changes in different browsers. In edge sometimes it ask for sign in powerapps when I click new item in the list?

@@ShanesCows On my sharepoint interface, I have to click on a dropdown on edit form and then an option to customize with power Apps shows up. Another question, right at the beginning of the video you shared your app, where does it get saved? I saved my app but didn't publish it, it's not showing up in my apps.

Shane - Your videos are SUPER Helpful, thank you for the time you put in! I have a question I am hoping you can direct me to a solution. I created a power app form from scratch. Now that I have the form functioning the way I created a sharepoint list and liked it. The problem I have is that the SharePOint list does not have all the columns that the form is capturing. How do I set up the app to powerapp to populate the sharepoint list columns? Do I need to now build out the sharepoint list to match the Powerapp, and how do I tell the PowerApp what data goes in what column? TIA for any help or resources you can point me to!

Start by adding the columns to the SharePoint list. Then your form can have all those fields. Or you can use Patch to do it.

@@ShanesCows Thanks for the tip - I have went ahead and added all the columns to my sharepoint list. I then refreshed the list in my power app. The newly added columns did not show up! Do you have a video about how to "Patch to them".

Is there away to remove the Microsoft power apps from the email that is sent via PowerApps? Any more customization on the email that is sent as well?

Great Videos! I am struggling with Submit because very new to this. I have created a form and my submit button will not submit- I have the formula " SubmitForm(SharePointForm1)", the button is not in the Sharepoint area like you mention it is under Form Screen 1 area of my tree. I also try to use the save button when submitting item and that will not work either. Any help appreciated ;).

Not sure. Do you get any error messages? Sometimes it is easier to try with a new form on a new list to see if you can get it working in a simpler state.

Hi Shane, This video is awesome! I am having trouble scrolling down to the other fields in my list when I try to add by clicking "new." It only will allow me to go down if I use the down arrow or tab key. I don't want other users to miss any of the fields. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Shane for your prompt response! I actually figured it out and thought I deleted this comment. But I also thought I added my newest concern which is that I am receiving an error message when I try to save my "test" entry. The error is "There was a problem saving your changes. The data source may be invalid." Any idea what I am doing wrong here?

Shane - I am sure so much has changed since this video - I have created the form and the new form is fine. When I click on the title of one of the records, it is having a hissy fit - sometimes, it tries to go into edit mode and then hangs up on "Getting Data" or, it opens to the new form and I have to click the Edit all Button. Please Help!

Toni nothing has really changed from this video. Little things but it should all work. I wonder if SharePoint is just having a bad day? Or have you tried doing it with another list to see if the problem follows.
