I've enjoyed watching these video's for a few days now. What amazes me is how many folk seemingly order materials for delivery without a thought as to how bulky and heavy the load is going to be, or to how they are going to handle it when it is dropped off.
I remember about 30 years ago when I worked for a delivery company that did home deliveries for Sears. Sometimes people would buy the biggest refrigerator they could find but not measure the door frames of the house. There were a few times we just couldn't get the fridge into the house or the kitchen and we'd have to take the thing back. Measure all your entry points people. Make sure the things fit into your house (or property in the case of large outside deliveries such as these).
@@shepherd3716 did they blame you for not fitting in the door way. Funny how people think. For me, I'm very sarcastic. Dog owners would say, "Nobody called to tell me I needed an updated Health Certificate for my dog" I would say, sorry but the guy with the Crystal Ball is out sick. He does all the calling. He knows everyone that is flying in and what time they land. He's like Santa Claus.
You might not want to give a customer your knife. He might cut himself and sue you for letting him use a sharp instrument. Don't let customers touch or use your equipment. If they get hurt and want to be a prick about it, you don't want to go through the hassle of defending yourself in court. Stay safe out there 👍
Really? You are not kidding? How could this thing ever go through in the court?! In Finland the judge would just laugh the customer out with such a ridiculous thing. Common sense.. If the customer cuts themselves on their own property, it's on them. If you can't trust a grown up man with a knife, what the hell... Would be a different thing if the driver cut him accidentally in which case the drivers insurance company would pay for the damages without even going to the court. Again, common sense..
@@alaric_ Here in the U.S. someone kept getting their car broken into, so they put broken glass somewhere in their dash to teach the thieves a lesson. Someone broke into the car and went to reach in and got cut then turned around and sued the owner of the car and won. That's how stupid it is here in the U.S., anyone with any sense would have laughed the thief out of court. Here they favor criminals. And countries wonder why we have guns...
Safford would have to foreseethat giving the customer a Stanley knife, is going to cause harm. If the customer had said "I feel like killing someone" and Safford then gives the knife, he is totally liable. But, if the customer then decides to go on a rampage, Safford is not likely to be prosecuted, as he could not have foreseen this.
Dude, I do furniture delivery. I know the frustration. It’s a drop only, we’re not taking it upstairs. No we won’t take down your old furniture. No I don’t know where the rest of your stuff is you’ll have to call the store. WE’RE NOT AMAZON! This stuff takes a while to ship, and it’s going to take 2-3 guys to get it in your house! You get tired of it. You do the extra to be nice, but it gets old. I have other places to be, there’s a schedule to maintain, they’re not paid for the extra work, and they go home when they’re done with all their stops. You should have planned better!
Love your videos! You’ve been doing this for much longer than I have bee watching these, but I did want to just say that giving a customer cutting tools (or any tools for that matter) could bite you back if they hurt themselves. I say this because when I was wrenching on tractor/trailers at a Kenworth shop years ago, a driver asked the mechanic if he could borrow a box cutter. The driver ended up cutting his hand and tried to get the mechanic to pay for him needing stitches. It ended up going nowhere, but since then, I make sure to never allow anyone to use any of my tools. I’m sure you know these things can happen, which is why others have commented that you recording all customers interactions will pay off someday if its ever needed to dispute issues. Stay safe and keep posting videos!!!!!
I had fun doing deliveries like that with a moffet but to mainly contractors delivering dry lining materials the things they expected you to do ,just because you had a fork truck 😅🤣
Would of been easy to push that load in the garage. It's on runners under the pallet. It could slide on that and you could of pushed the runners on the side. Pushing the runners while lifting up to take some weight off (just a little)you could of gone into the garage almost up to your mast. You could of put a old 2x4 on the other side to help it slide. Just saying. Been doing it for 30 years now. Up to container size forks.
@@paulredinger420 I was thinking the same. He could have pushed it in there lol. Would have taken maybe another 2min tops. But hey I don't blame him, sometimes I don't feel like doing more than what I'm paid to do
I would hv had you to turn it sideways and u slide it in with your forks using a board or something to push against but hv it on film of the agreement of you not being responsible for any damages if any 🤷♂️
Hey, new to your channel, want to say what's up, you tha man 👊. Saw a couple of Home Depot flatbed trucks today and reminded of you! Keep on trucking brudda!
You’re willing to use your time to let him use your blade but don’t have time to take the forklift and put it a whole 2-3 feet from where it is? Wow. What a character.
$10 tip to move it a couple of feet to the left. He obviously thought you were going to leave it in the garage for him. If you can’t do it simply say all I can do is leave in front of garage, and that doesn’t even deserve a tip. But it all comes back around, your choice.
Cheap, not chip! :) Chip is a damaged piece of something. So, if you dropped your phone, but notice a small hole in the screen, that's a chip. Coffee mugs made from pottery often chip. Chip is also a potato snack, such as hot chips (fries), or cold chips (crisps).
@@Locutus wow keep illustrating me master. Thanks for the lecture. Like I give a dame about it. There is always someone that knows it all and at the end don't know nothing; Please excuse my grammar and spelling, feel free to lecture me more
And that's why you dont like doing any extra work for someone it's not because of the liability that you keep talking about even tho that is an issue but that can be avoided but you just want to be done by 12 so you dont hv to do anymore and u still get paid for it lol I read between the lines of things very well but I cant say I blame you tho lol
There is liability in that. What if he nicks the door frame, etc. It would be very stupid to try to put into the garage. Plus, it's curbside delivery. He went well beyond that.
