Hate? I'm completely left speechless by your experience, expertise, and your amazing set of tools. I took a laptop to a repair shop and he said, "water damage, can't fix, buy a new one." You, by sharp contrast, actually FIX most of the damaged motherboards, whether it's water, coke, wine, or a shorted cap or chip. You do the REAL job. I'm beyond impressed.

Love the positive message. First HDMI ports I did were by eye, then checked with a jewellers loupe and re-touched until I got it right. You can see quite a lot with the eye or a simple magnifier particularly when it's wrong. With a good light, you can see if a QFN is off or if pins are bridged. Much easier with a scope though, haha.

Ok, then I will say it... after doing electronics for over 50 years as a hobby, what I can say is that you are doing a better job at explaining what precisely you are looking for than some creators who in reality are pushing their online shop and make it look like if you buy their gear, you will be an expert in repairing microelectronics, just like that.

This guy. I love his channel. Not sure why he wants to help people and love the way he encourages ppl to try. Why he is not just concerned with making his own living or charging people but he really wants to help you and I do this our self. I can’t try yet because nothing is broken. But I think I’ll buy some broken laptops for practice. This is one of my favorite channels
@electronicrepairservice2020
With all the repairs vids online done by experienced techs - they make repairs look easy... so it's tempting to try it if you're a bit handy. Everyone has to start with something right? How hard can it be? 😳It's the best way to learn, just dive in & screw up, learn what not to do, 😤 it's all part of the process to figure out if this is something you enjoy or not. You don't see many videos of guys just starting out shorting things and doing sloppy soldering repairs but it's all part of the learning process. It takes tools, time, patience & practice. Grateful to ALL experienced techs who take the time to provide us with videos of their repair experiences, videos are a time-consuming task to do. Doing so, helps to shorten the learning curve by a lot.👍

You should also consider that the customer realised his or her lack of experience and knowledge, and made the decision to stop and hand it over to a pro before making more damage. That is also a good decision to make. I support your view though, keep trying til you master it, but maybe on an older laptop where it would't be a big deal if the repair fails miserably. I love your videos, Sorin. I have learned a lot from you. It is nice to see you in action and listen to the way you analyse and reflect over the problem at hand. And I love your accent. "I don't believe", "I burned my finger, I never learn" (not from this video), that one made me laugh, because I do the same thing over and over again :) Keep it up. Looking forward to more videos.

Don't worry not being perfect, you do a pretty decent job. Better than most eletronic repairs technicians. In my job as an industrial maintenance technician sometimes we a lot of "unprofessional" repairs because our main focus it's to put the machine working as soon as possible and many times we just don't have a spare part to replace unless we order. Time = money. "Dodginess" it's part of this area so dont worry about others ppl opinions.

50:43 I had few cases like that and I fixed it. Take out the screen, put it on the table, remove black tape, unscrew the lcd's motherboard, filp it. put the metal plate under that board (to achieve / keep the same level with screen to avoid flex cable tension, and to provide quick heat absorption) then use flux and do a proper reflow of each IC chip, which is smd soldered or has solderballs.
@carlosgarciaoropeza5480
@carlosgarciaoropeza5480 Год назад
@Radek S: Yeah. Totally agree with your suggestion. If possible I would try to attach small pieces of double sided tape to the bottom inside of that front plastic bezel. Obviously if I have another Panel and another similar screen connector cable at hand (they mention some Dell & HP models but I would have to check personally by comparing part and manufacturer numbers). I'm used to seeing cracked TV screens. All the best.

Hi Sorin :D So, you and I know that you can redo soldering many times if you dont get it right the first time, but folks with little experience and knowledge dont always get that, and maybe they have seen when folks do a horrific job, that you and I have spent way too much time repairing, and just dont want to be that guy. I bet the guy that sent this is, will learn a hell of a lot and totally worth what it cost him to hire you. I used to do this work in a factory without using a microscope (Ive used microscopes for soldering, but we didnt need it for this) Sometimes we would use a magnify lamp thing, but this stuff is easy to do with hot air, flux, and a little tappy-tap-tap, and its perfectly aligned like magic
@ShR33k
@ShR33k 2 месяца назад
Considering the customer doesn't own a microscope, they did a fairly decent attempt. They should really consider, even a cheap one off Amazon or eBay for around £50-£60, the difference it makes it unbelievable.

Usually the problem with the display comes when someone out some pressure on the back side of the laptop. When caring it in a bag or else. This way of the connector get little bend, or the COF connections go bad. That is why when you push it in front it changes.

I'm not a professional, but when I upgraded a Thinkpad X270 with a FHD screen I had an issue of intermittent connection on the display. The only way to fix it was to replace the ribbon cable with a new one. I think the metal cable connector is linked to the internal wirings of the cable in a very fragile way and even if I was very careful, most probably the traction applied to disengage the latch might have damaged the thin wires. Possibly the original ribbon cable might have lost its flexibility due to aging.
