I used to work at lush. So that in itself was a horror story. I remember there was a particular rude customer who demanded I hurry up at the till because she was in hurry. BUT still insisted I pack and label everything perfectly. What really pushed me off the edge was when she would sigh loudly and say that I was making her late during Xmas. So when I wrapped up bath oils I made sure that she saw I was wrapping it in greaseproof paper and shape it into the design of a sweet 🍬. So when I put it in her bag I squished them all and she bought about 10. I don’t regret it at all

I had a customer throw her shopping at me during the Christmas period. I'd just started my shift and was walking to the tills. She came up to the end of the tills shouting that her bags had split. I came to help, it was obvious why and as I tried to help her. She threw it all down at my feet and shouted at me. She wanted large 15 rolls of wrapping paper rolls in ONE paper bag. (I later found out my friend had served her and been treated badly too, trying to help pack them properly). So... I tried to do three double bags and as I got to the third, she took the third off me, tipped it out at my feet and told me I was stupid. She put all the rolls in two bags, tried to leave and the bags split again. She was fuming at me, saying I was incompetent. It was all my fault. I said that they needed to be in three as 5 is already a stretch in one bag. I tried to help pack once more. I even said we had £1 plastic large bags that would be perfect. She shouted back she wasn't buying any more crap from our store. (She threw some of them at me throughout all this). Anyway, I got the rolls in two double bags in the end and as I finished, she physically grabbed the bags off me. Stormed off. No thank you. No apology. Shouting how she was now late thanks to my stupidity... she'd never shop here again and such a stupid sales girl. She left me with so many broken large paper bags that I had to carry them all down to the stock room to the bailer. I was close to tears. It's rare that I lose my Tiggerness on the shop floor but golly that was a tough one. So many horror stories and stuff that happens that makes us feel so worthless. Even simple remarks at the till do it for me. 'Come on love, you're not paid minimum wage for nothing, oh wait. You are. *Hands change*. 'You need a price decrease mate'. 'Sad to think you've ended up here hun, don't worry, keep trying and you'll get a job you can be proud of'. 'I'm so embarrassed to shop here, I don't know how you work here everyday' Erm... I have so much to say.

That is blimmin horrific! We shouldnt have to endure what we do. It's not fair. People are quick to judge you for having a job where 'they wouldn't dare'.. And don't think twice before making derogatory comments!.. But theyre quite happy to eat / shop there. x

Gurl, be proud of your job. You're doing honest work. If they were threatened with the prospects of going homeless and you'll see how fast they'll want your "embarrassing" job.

Omfg there has been so many times I would’ve loved to deck customers..when I worked in the customer service. Even grown men screaming in my face.

I witnessed this horrendous lady shouting at a waitress in Wetherspoons about the waiting time. Something even an idiot would know is not in the waitress's power. She was moaning on and on about how long the food was taking, and then when the food got served, she was like "WELL I DIDN'T WANT ICE CREAM". Obviously the order had got mixed up but this woman was so moved by her damn dessert that she was willing to SCREAM at the face of a young girl serving for a JAM packed restaurant. I was watching in complete disbelief. I looked around the restaurant and nobody seemed to care but even I could tell it was so so busy (probably why the food arrived late and incorrect). You're in damn Wetherspoons, woman. If you want the kind of service that moves mountains then go pay the money you don't have somewhere fancy ffs. I couldn't concentrate after witnessing that, and about 10 minutes later I saw the same waitress run into the toilets. My female instincts kicked in straaaaaight away - I knew exactly why she was going in there! I jump out my seat, ran in there, and as expected, she's absolutely sobbing her eyes out. She takes one look at me and I tell her how disgusting that lady was for treating her like that. She went on and on about how she hates the job and that it was her last day today as she was just doing the job temporarily while she was home from uni. When she said she was going back to study tomorrow, I couldn't be more happy to hear that because I hate to know people think that being yelled out by fat, hungry customers is what they deserve. I'm so sorry you've had to go through all of this stuff, really ):

I have soooo many stories that are too long to share lol Yours were unbelievable and I am genuinely sorry you had to go through that. It's like people suddenly don't have any decency when faced with a person working "for" them.

I’m living for your videos now you’ve come back! I used to watch you all the time when I was a teenager, and now I’m in my twenties but you’re still so relatable but now relatable to my twenties life instead of my teenage life. I worked in retail for years, in travel agents and fashion retail and also restaurant. It literally is the hardest job because you’re right! Customers are just so rude sometimes. If I were you I’d look into apprenticeships, especially if you want a career within video editing / the media. The wages sometimes start crappy but worth it in the long run. That’s what I ended up doing and now I’m on the road to becoming a rail engineer :) looking forward to more videos!

I worked at primark for 5 years, and the amount of abuse I got was crazy. People shouting in my face because we didn't have their sizes, or customers moaning on about waiting in a queue. One time I was working in the fitting room and this woman came up to me with clothes she tried on, she didnt put them back on the hangers, they were in a ball of mess. She said to me when she handed me the clothes that she made a mess in the fitting room and she was sorry. I didn't think anything of it and said thats fine I sort it out. Went into the fitting room she was in, and there was a bag she took from the shop floor, and there was a horrible smell coming from it, I looked inside and she took a poo in it. Needless to say I quit a few weeks later and found a better job

I don’t really have any super horrible stories but I worked as a hostess at a restaurant for three years and you mentioning about being told to smile reminded me that I used to be constantly told that and mostly by the same person.. like you said I don’t need to smile all the time! Just because I’m not smiling doesn’t mean I’m not happy..

Sarah, you are a TROOPER. I worked retail for years. I don't remember my horror stories, but I do remember having rough customers in the past. I can share one story with you. Remember in a recent video you mentioned you wished you worked as a counselor at a summer camp in America? The camp I worked out had a number of British people come over and be counselor and then stay around for a few weeks after. Anyway, I was primarily a waterfront counselor, but the first year you work as one you work as a waiter one day a week. The way it is suppose to work is that the counselor at the table is suppose to tell you what the tables want, not the kids. But there was this one kid, maybe he was 8, at this table that just kept shouting over the counselor of what he wanted. One thing the table needed was another pitcher of ice water. There were other things to get too, but eventually I got it there. Now this kid was getting my anger level up and up each time I came to the table. He just kept pushing me. So I am putting the pitcher of water on the table, keep in mind I'm still holding the handle, as I put it on the table this little shit say, "IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME!" And in one motion I poured that whole pitcher of water over that kid's head! Naturally the kid eventually called mommy to complain what had happened, the mommy called the camp director and the camp director called me into his office. Bear in mind I went to this camp for years as a camper myself. Anyway, he takes my hand, gives it a little slap on top and says, "You have now been disciplined. Obviously if I was working in a real restaurant, I would be fired (sacked), but I did learn that day there would be no way I could work as a waiting one day. The retail work I did was i a electronic store once and then later a book store. You have all my respect in the world for what you do and what you put up with, Sarah.

You right about Disneyland except it’s worse because they paid more money and feel more entitled. Also, there’s no no touching policy at your work establishment? At Disney or the other job before that, we can’t touch them and they can’t touch us.
@heyyyimsarahhh1991

I'm not really sure about a no touching policy. Haven't heard of it! But I don't think we're allowed to touch customers... 🙄

At my first ever job in a store, I was still being trained on tills and transactions and while serving a woman, she began to arse around picking things up on the till and asking me about the prices. All while her card was in the machine, waiting for her PIN number. So the transaction timed out and she got arsey with me when I asked her to try again. She made me take the card out, and without thinking, tapped the contactless (really something you shouldn't do with a customer's card so I was in the wrong here). She flipped out and started to shout at me and I started to have an anxiety attack in front of her - I apologized over and over again and explained that I had only been there a few days. She didn't listen, took her items and immediately reported me to my supervisor. I was then hauled up to the office and yelled at, making my anxiety attack even worse. I probably deserved it, but thought this woman could have been a bit more understanding and at least not immediately gone to my supervisor; it felt like she just wanted to get me into trouble cause she could.

The stuff about the kid peeing and cleaning the toilets resonates with me as someone who works in daycare. You shouldn’t have to deal with that as a waitress/customer service etc worker 😡

I have so many retail stories, people are such trash. I think the worst was when I worked at Primark, I wasnt even treated like a human being. I only worked there for like 6-7 months and somehow I have 3 seperate stories about shit on the shop floor, and thats not including the giant horse shit someone did in the changing rooms that they squashed clothes in to hide it. Like how have I even got ANY stories of people shitting?! Seriously retail workers should get paid so much more than they do lol

I can't believe the man that cut your face with the skates! I'm guessing it was a accident but I thought it was just common sense to keep ya know, blades pointed close to the floor and not near faces! I've just finished my first proper job in retail and ngl it was hell and I really hated it. I know you're not enjoying it either but its nice to listen to stories similar to my own ^^
