0:00 Intro - Click show more under the video to read more.
0:05 The technician tried to drain the engine oil and none came out. He then removed the oil pan and the oil was sludge like the oil filter. The engine was flushed several times but the noise was still there. The customer declined further repairs/diagnosis. Most likely timing noise from a spun connecting rod bearing or timing chain.
0:20 The technician said the customer did not know what they were doing when they tried to wire this power bar in their truck. We did not get any more information on the exact cause of the fire.
0:28 The engine was initially low on engine oil as the car had an oil leak (which was found on a previous visit to the shop). The customer knew about it but did not keep an eye on it. It most likely made quite a bit of noise, especially with numerous holes in the block and oil pan.
0:46 A Dirty rear camera lens and rear bumper are what the customer saw. Easy fix!
1:01 Don't use a cargo net hook to tow your vehicle or another vehicle out of a ditch. Some tow hooks will be left-hand thread as well, so make sure to check that if you need to use it.
1:19 Certain Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrids have this recall.
1:39 Customer's vehicle is in very rough shape.
1:45 The technician had to fix the wires and also remove the spray foam that was behind the dashboard and in other spots.
1:59 No extra information.
2:08 Dodge Nitro.
2:21 The technician said the engine needed to be replaced. Was not replaced at his shop.
2:30 Electric power-assisted steering gear/rack caused the noise.
2:39 We've seen this a ton of times. If you're modifying your exhaust always look at where the tailpipe is pointing towards. As many customers had them pointing directly to their fuel tank, wires or other bad spots.
2:53 Not the best thing to use to winch a vehicle out, but it worked!
3:02 Video sent in by a subscriber of his collection!
3:17 Outro. Thanks for watching!

Phones are cheaper to repair and replace than cars itself. Plus high end phones are more like a status symbol now than anything else because even for a decently large fraction of the price for a smartphone (Around $300) will be just as good, if not better than most high end ones on the market right now. I really look down on people who get brand new high end smartphones each year by a contract because they are putting themselves in debt more than just paying for the phone outright, then for the service, and keeping it long term for at least 4 - 5 years till it's gets damaged or outdated. Those people are not smart in my book.

My state has them, too. But that doesn't stop shady mechanics from taking an extra $20 to slap a sticker on it. If it is less than 25 years old, it gets plugged into the ODB2 and as long as it doesn't have any codes, they'll pass it. Older cars just get safety inspections, so again, it's nothing an extra 20 won't fix. I used to take one of my cars to one of those mechanics because of a crack in the windshield and I didn't have the money to replace it at the time (teenager working for minimum wage). It also had an exhaust leak. This was back in the Dyno days and they put another car on the Dyno and printed up a sticker for $20. He did have some scruples, though. If the car couldn't pass a safety inspection, otherwise (other than a cracked windshield), he wouldn't pass it.

If it's not road worthy like a majority of clips, they declined repairs. You would think they would be giving MDOT a call to report a dangerous vehicle. I know some shops can hold a vehicle if it's not safe to be on the road and will contact their local PD and inform them of the circumstances leading to them holding the vehicle.
@LancerGimpMan

In Australia they can 'white slip' your car. Any qualified mechanic can revoke your registration. I've had it threatened on me once, but I was calling them out as making up stuff so they could charge me for repairs. So, its probably not actually enacted too much, unless they are ready for a fight, or its so obvious that they know they will win any dispute.
@jondahl3173
@jondahl3173 6 месяцев назад
In Washington State, all you can do is make them tow it away. Done that a few times. And our road deicer isn't that bad, usually 😅. It's the broken suspension parts or total brake system mess that gets that call. Like backwards pads, rotor ground off the hat, etc etc.

I think many if these clips are from US states that don't have mandatory safety inspections. (We don't have federal regs for owners, only manufacturers.) If the government doesn't care to require that vehicles be safe, there might not be much a shop can do.
@ZboeC5
@ZboeC5 6 месяцев назад
@@erikwilliam1254 MDOT is whatever state you are in...but anyway not every state has the same laws as your so no shops just can't hold cars hostage. AAFES sold a 240-to-120 volt plug adapter, but all it did was change the shape of the plug. It didn't affect the voltage one iota. Somebody needed to run a computer at That Spot, but there wasn't a 120-volt outlet in That Spot. They went to AAFES and bought the adapter then brought it back and plugged their surge suppressor into the adapter. The surge suppressor that functioned by clamping the voltage to 125 volts. And I will say that that poor surge suppressor tried with every part and portion of its being to clamp 240 volts to125. It failed. And burst into flames. Must have been spectacular.
