0:00 Intro
0:06 As described customer was complaining of a clunking noise. They also mentioned that they used an car wash afterwards to try and wash it off but had no luck.
0:28 That's why there's battery fuses, so if something like this happens it'll blow the fuse besides taking our computers inside the vehicle or the alternator.
0:43 As described. Eight catalytic converters were taken off brand new KIA's at a dealership.
0:56 Not the way to ground your amp or anything for a matter of fact lol.
1:06 As described. I liked this one lol. The belt was a pretty good idea and would probably last longer then a ratchet strap.
1:16 Rust. Oh the joys... Looks like the whole front part of the frame is ready to fall off. Didn't get any details about this clip.
1:25 If the head gasket fails in such a way it allows the compressed air/fuel to escape, the compression of that cylinder is reduced. This loss of compression results in a rough running engine and a notable reduction in engine power.
1:38 As described. Engine seems to look fairly new just by looking at the nice clean red paint on the engine and clean engine bay. So stuff happens and failures like this can happen anytime.
1:54 As described. I liked this one also lol.
2:03 Really worn out strut on a Nissan. I wonder how the spring looked...
2:14 Looks like the lower bushing on this shock was very worn out!
2:20 As described. I put some more info on the video what a drum-in-hat parking brake system is.
2:34 The auto/manual F150 lol. Never seen this happen before, even when I worked at Ford. But I'm thinking the shifter linkage could be worn and the shift assembly is worn out (worn out bushings perhaps?). Let me know if you have an idea or know what it is!
2:49 CHRYSLER x 999 lol
2:57 Tire still looks good, too bad lol.
3:08 Outro
Hope you enjoyed the video!

Congratulations. But anyway I have to say this because I find it so Fucking Irritating. These type of video are going to get worse and more extreme as technology gets more and more sophisticated. It's part of the dumbing down of our society. Here is a quick example. There's less people today that know how to change a tire than there was 30 plus years go. As time goes on people are becoming more and more dependent on roadside assistance. That takes up a lot more time waiting on Roadside Assistance than changing it yourself. Back 30 plus years ago if you got a flat you change it with your spare tire and continue on your merry way. People are becoming less and less knowledgeable about car basics. But there are cases a person is unable to change their own tire even if they know how. That would be if the person is handicapped, elderly, has a medical condition and so forth. Here is another perfect example. The park assist on these newer vehicles is another bad idea. That's just one more skill that will be lost overtime.

Lady brought her husband's Corvette in begging us to fix the car right away. She had borrowed his pride and joy. I was a truck mechanic. Lots of times you can do a minor overhaul with the engine still in the frame. Customer's truck was towed in with a seized engine. Pulled the oil pan and head off to see the condition of the pistons and cylinders. Had to use a long steel bar and a six ton hydraulic jack to get the pistons out. One was so seized up it lifted the front of the truck up and the cylinder liner popped loose before the piston moved at all. That was when the customer agreed that the engine needed to come all the way out for a major overhaul. So much fun.

That shifter reminded me of an old International Cargostar truck I was driving with a 5+2 transmission. I lost 1st and 5th gears, then ended up only having 3rd. Drove it to a shop that way just using 3rd low and high. Turned out that the shifter in those trucks are mounted to the top of the radiator housing since it's a cabover, and the bolts to the radiator housing had come loose, so when I was trying to shift gears, the entire radiator was moving and not letting the linkage shift...

@@JustRolledIn Especially if you use Bois d'Arc wood. That stuff is heavy and dense. When I worked for East Texas State University (back in 1994, before it became a branch of Texas A&M) I knew a carpenter who got tired of his wife constantly rearranging the furniture. So he built a new couch out of Bois d'Arc wood to make sure she'd never be able to move it again. 🤣 (One cubic foot of Bois d'arc weighs 48 pounds. So you can only imagine how much that couch weighed.)

Once when called to replace a worn out truck tyre, i demounted the tyre and found pump pliers broken in two rolling round the inside of the tyre. I think the last tyre fitter had broken them when trying to mount the tyre and the parts had fell in the tyre.Instead of dismounting it and retrieving the broken parts they just carried on and mounted the tyre!

😅🤣😂...I had a car come in with a chunk of firewood impaled in the tire. I worked in Palo Alto CA when I was young, at a performance tire store, but we did repairs as well. We had quite a few old people come in luxury cars, Benz, Caddys, Lincolns with big V8's that had low oil pressure. It was from driving the car for 5 min to the store or bingo, whatever. They never let the car get to operating temp and they would be completely clogged with sludge from condensation and oil mist. Worse than the one today where the oil turns to a jel from the chemical reaction of oil and antifreeze from blown head gaskets or cracked block. Cleaning out the sludge was like looking at tree rings, layer upon layer of sludge. We would fill the block with diesel fuel all the way to the valve covers, let it sit overnight after we cleaned the top of the heads. Drain the fuel, and refill 3 times and then change the oil 3 times. It would work about 50 % of the time and get them to a few more bingo games before we sold them an engine. People will drive their car until the wheels literally fall off before they bring it to the shop...smdh.

I once drove with the parking brake on in my company van, it was below freezing and when I entered the vehicle it was in gear so I assumed they had done that so the parking brake wouldn't be hard to unlock due to the lower temp so I didn't check if it was on. road was icy so I just assumed I had next to no grip when I left the icy parking area. I hoped that once I reached the normal road it would solve itself, (un)lucky for me the next 400 meters was also icy and I still swayed out a lot when I did even the smallest turn. Not wanted to take the risk I decided to enter the nearest parking spot because that was not drivable. Only when I came out of the van did someone pull up next to me to tell me that my back wheels weren't spinning. sad thing about that whole ordeal was that police had passed me by like a 10 seconds before I pulled over and they didn't seem it worth their effort to pull me over for it or to let me know my back wheels didn't spin

I learned the hard way not to set parking brake in the winter, got home, my driveway is a hill so turn the wheels, set brake. Next morning -10 out release the brake go to back out of the of the driveway about 10 feet and a loud bang and the truck shuddered, the brakes had frozen on and didn't release, when they broke free they fractured the drums.

I live in central Florida. One day I came to the rescue of a visiting family that was on the side of the road with the back end of the van smoking. After a bit of questions..come to find out they just pulled out of the rental lot and the Dad had no idea the emergency brake was fully engaged. Told them to wait a bit, to cool down and off they went. They were lucking it was on for just a short time. I would think cars/trucks besides dummy warning lights....would have a buzzer as well ...Just saying.

It depends on the company and model, but the rusting away has been a problem for decades. Even a decade ago, basically every Durango I saw had body panels rusting away, and they weren't that old then. Other vehicles of the same brand didn't stick out that much. My parents had a couple Buicks reach nearly 20 years old without too much rust on body panels, but the frames rusted out. If you're somewhere where they salt the roads in winter, everything metal on the lower half of the vehicle has to be properly protected or it will rust out, and there is a ton of stuff on the underside of the vehicle. It takes years to really be a problem, and not everyone lives in those parts of the country.
@MrBirdnose
@MrBirdnose 3 года назад
If you think they rust out badly now, you should have seen them in the 1970s. By the time the warranty was up they were already starting to rust. Manufacturers didn't use fender liners and sometimes didn't bother to paint the back side of sheet metal panels.

Here's the thing. If you drive through wet concrete, you do have a short amount of time where you can get it removed fairly easily (when done properly). If you wait out of embarrassment and the concrete dries, you're in for a world of hurt. I don't even want to think about how much work that would be to remove

I really lucked out with my better half. One grandfather was a rural auto mechanic, a certified John Deere mechanic, and had his own shop and small junkyard. Her father was a metal fabricator, welder, engineer, designer and dabbled in machining, She, her sister, and her brother all know tools, how to work on vehicles, and can usually kludge fixes out of what have you until they can properly fix things. It's nice to know people who only get stranded if something goes seriously wrong. Years ago the clutch master cylinder went south on a trip to LA. She grabbed a bootlace, tied it to the clutch pedal, and used it to pull the pedal up so she could get enough pressure to disengage the clutch enough to shift. This was on I-5, Grapevine grade, nowhere to get service. It worked to get us to LA. Plus, she figured it out while we were still rolling!

@@practicalplinking6133 We used a 1985 Ford water truck when I was a Equipment Operator for a Concrete company. I was on a dirt crew, we had a guy that bragged he could operate anything, he was in the military 100 yrs ago. He got in it to go fill it up so we could till up dirt and mix it with lime to stabilize before we poured concrete for a runway at an airport. He didn't release the emergency break when we left. He was so confused as to why that truck was dragging so hard and wouldn't go very fast. He was slamming that clutch down as far as it would go, cussing because he couldn't get it to shift gears properly, he kept killing it and he was mad because he was catching hell with that old thing. It was a 13 speed. I suggested he pull the E break, flip it into low gear and push the clutch in about halfway instead of flooring it. He got mad as hell that some Ole gal was telling him what to do, told me to mind my own and made me get out of the truck when we got back. The next time we went to get water he said if you think you know it all you can drive. I popped the E break off, took off in 1st gear and didn't slam the clutch into the freaking floor. Made him so stinking mad that some woman showed him up I heard him telling our boss I had no business doing mans work. I should be at home tending to my husband, babies and in the kitchen getting supper ready. My kids are taking care of, I aint married, I pay my own bills and I'll make my own supper how I see fit 🤔🙄🤣🙄 lmao.
