I have easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials "do it yourself" (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.
I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.
Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed whacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.
My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.
I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.

I guess these Briggs engines are cheap as dirt since they are in so much and have such a short life span. I still don't get how people don't regularly check the oil on these things - it won't make them last forever but at least last a bit longer. I learned my lesson to go with a higher quality engine after my last one grenaded. Thanks Don, have a good Labour Day weekend!

"I still don't get how people don't regularly check the oil on these things - it won't make them last forever but..." It just about will. Keep the oil fresh & up to the proper level, and for residential use, you'll probably get 20 yrs of use out of one. I have a Kohler Command Pro that's 20 yrs old, even though I let the oil get fouled with gas one time. I have a Briggs flathead that's about 12 yrs old that has survived 3 teenagers.

The "old" 28cui runs great. They are much tougher than the newer 21-33cui´s. But i probably wouldn´t let it idle that low because the lack of splash lubrication of the upper bushing and counter balance support. Greetings from Denmark :-)

On Those single cylinder engines, oil is the life blood. I had a Craftsman 22 HP turbo cooled in the shop for deck problems. I checked the oil as usual. It was down below the has marks. The customer didn't want to change it so I just added enough to get it where it should be and noted it on the order. This same customer brought me a John Deere LA145. The idler bracket on the deck broke. This mower was in the same shape. Low oil that looked as if it never had been changed. Had the original oil filter that it came with. Clogged air filter. And the lube points hadn't seen grease since it came out of the box. And other problems. Again, noted on the order because the customer wanted it back ASAP. Another good video. Looking forward to the next one.

When I was a teenager, I had a riding mower with an 8hp Briggs. I starting hearing a high pitch squeak every once in a while. Oil was normal. It threw a rod. I was mad as hell. Had to push a bunch of lawns to get enough money for a new block. Religiously, checked the oil, changed it at ridiculously close intervals... Threw a rod about 5hrs later than the first. My dad is a marine and was up my ass making 100% sure I wasn't slacking. It was satisfying to prove the first one wasn't my fault, but expensive lesson to trust B&S twice.

It just drives the point of changing the oil and filters regularly and keeping the oil full and clean all the harder. I change the oil and filters in my tractor mowers at least once per year now, generally at the beginning of a mowing season. One has a 2007 Briggs and the other a 2011 Kohler, both single cylinder. The Briggs has a new carb and I lapped the valves a couple months ago. It runs great after that and a good cleaning.

You video helped me take mine apart, thinking it was the famous decompression spring but it turned out to just be a bent aluminum push rod bc the valves got out of adjustment. While taking it apart, made a killer oil drain set up and could tell by the guts of the engine, what good care I am keeping it in by changing the oil and filter once a year. Thank you.

Hello, I believe my John Deere is running on only one cylinder. It has less power now and wants to bod down or shut off when I get into some high or thick grass. The power this year is much less that last year. What happened? Is this something I can fix or should I buy a new tractor? I have almost all new parts on it. Selenoid, fuel filter, fuel pump, coils, all new wiring harness, new battery, new plugs, new PTO clutch, new mower deck belt and spindles.
