This new homescreen relaxes me sooo much! In this video I'm showing you step by step how I'm using the new iPadOS14 widgets to create my new homescreen.

I love how you don’t make it a screen recording because u can’t really see where you need to press that easily. This format of recording can show you where to press by looking at the fingers. It is much more easier so thanks for the lovely tutorial!

In widgetsmith, the last color option for background or tint color for a widget is custom! You can choose a color from a rainbow, go through rgb sliders, or type the hex code so you can get your widgets to match any color background you might already have picked out!

This was so fun to do, can’t wait for the icon tutorial. I went with a teal theme and didn’t want to pay for the temperature widget so I left it on even though it doesn’t match. I woke up this morning and a cloudy day matches my color scheme perfectly 😂

So glad you found it helpful! I recommend you move the original icons to a different page, sort of like I’ve done at the beginning of the video. Don’t delete the icon because it’ll delete the app too!

i had this same issue, however if your iPad is up to date, just go to settings, and under “home screen & dock” make sure you select “more” under App Icons. it should allow the widgets to appear on your home screen. hope this helps!

you’ll need to save them with a background (as jpg)- otherwise they take the Widgetsmith icon background - I had the same issue!

Ok, happened accidentally upon this tutorial and yes it IS very good. But as a teacher, Karin, is frustrating/confusing to have your pace of speaking/tapping be so very rapidly. It definitely WILL take me four + hours to keep rewinding your instructions to complete, but then I’m stuck in bed after “small surgery” for a week so I should get it completely by week’s end maybe, 😂
