Customizing Mego Star Trek Figures

In this video we take a look at a bunch of my custom Star Trek crew members, and I demonstrate how to swap out the upper half of a male Mego figure so that it can be customized with the lower half containing the Star Trek style boots. That's a great re-use of the packaging ties as a tool - I usually cut mine down and use them to tie off bags of frozen veg! I shall definitely be adding the next ones I get to my customising tool kit!: )

That's what is funny about many of the Target Megos, they work better for other people rather than the character listed on the packaging heh. They do work well as generic crew members. "I'm the greatest science officer of all time." Ali ^_^

Wave you had issues with the new Mego bodies limbs popping out of socket. I saw a guy squeeze the clips together for the arm but I don’t know. Great video too buddy. Thanks

The skin tone on the Spock torso and arms is different from the Al Bundy figure, so this would be somewhat noticeable if I just swapped the head. Plus I wanted to show how to disassemble and reassemble Mego figures in general just as a useful technique for customizers.

Ok, what did you do for Ali, White legs? I thought you were going to show how you did him. I switched out the legs by hitching them out and replacing them while the screwdriver is holding them out… you need two screwdrivers though.

Easier, but the hand color would not match. I demonstrated the head swap technique in a separate video.

I just cut along three sides of the plastic bubble near the card. This allows it to hinge open while still keeping the bubble attached to the card.

As far as I can tell, no. I think there were Mego scale action figures released of the ladies from The Big Bang Theory TV show dressed in Star Trek uniforms a long time ago, but I think those are hard or expensive to acquire on the secondary market. Someone with sewing skills could probably clean up by offering blue and gold female Star Trek uniforms on Ebay.
