Final video in a series showing how to operate a sewing machine and utilize it to sew player lettering kits to your own jersey, using proper techniques to get the desired finished look. These videos will NOT cover creating your own lettering kits, just techniques for applying to a jersey and sewing.
In this video we walk through the entire process:
Starting with final prep work for getting the jersey ready for kit application, moving to an uncut demo of sewing an alternate captain patch to the front of a jersey, then a brief wrap up talking about taking good photos of your jersey for presentation.

Great tutorial! I've been curious about trying this myself but have never touched a sewing machine in my life.

Just takes some patience and practice. Not hard once you get the hang of it! :)

@@pensjerseys2322 looks like fun and looks like I'd definitely need some practice before playing with 100 and 200 dollar jerseys🤣 but "Re-custom-izing" jerseys is something we need.

How about a video series on properly removing the plastic-like crests from practice jerseys?
@pensjerseys2322
@pensjerseys2322 3 года назад
You know, I don't actually even have one that I can try it with, but you did give me a few other ideas. Even though I don't have a practice jersey to do that with, I do have an older oddball jersey with vinyl letters I'm still needing to finish removing. Both that and removing a "Cosby" painted logo on another jersey. I'll see if I can get a few warmer days still to try those outside to keep proper ventilation due to fumes...

Awesome videos. Any advice on the order of application? Ie namebar first, sleeves next, etc Lastly any advice for sewing on the sleeve numbers like beat way to feed into the machine?

@NathanChmilar-eq7yf sorry, never saw this comment! I normally apply the nameplate, arm digits and any patches first & then sew them down. I save the back digits for last!

Did you heat press the A on before you sewed it? Just wondering how you got it to stay on for the process, or maybe I missed that part of the video lol.
@pensjerseys2322
@pensjerseys2322 2 года назад
Sorry! I never got the notification about this comment. Yes, you can heat press or use the spray adhesive. I've actually moved on to using a heat press, but at the time only used spray and made these videos with that in mind as I figured a lot of people wouldn't want to invest in a heat press. I had a job that paid off the heat press immediately, which is the only reason I bought it honestly.

What sewing machine do you recommend for jerseys? I got a cheap Amazon one for $40

I have a question I hope you can answer. Do you know what stitching is used on the nameplates? It looks like zigzag but then something else. I can’t quite figure it out, but it looks like a multiple stitch design or something. I should’ve mentioned that I mean on the newer Adidas jerseys. I know the old ones are pretty straightforward, but if you have an Adidas one laying around that you can look at and let me know, it would really help me out. Awesome videos, teaching me a lot, thank you!

It's very likely that you're looking at the edge of the nameplate being serged, and then sewn down to the jersey. Look it up - the serging kind of protects the edge of the plate a bit more from fraying. I personally don't like the look of it.
@ryand4474

@@pensjerseys2322 oh it didn’t tell me you replied, I’m glad I looked. But ok, thank you so much! I do have at least one pro stock jersey that I can use for reference, but I’ve already learned so much from your videos, and I wasn’t 100%. So I’ll check that out. Thanks again!

@@ryand4474 No problem! It's something I didn't cover because you need a separate machine to serge the nameplate (which I don't have) or ask the customizer that made your kit to do it (I prefer not to, personally).

So I ordered a jersey and the company misspelled it. And I got a refund for the jersey.But I still have the jersey misspelled. Should I take the nameplate off first before I remove the letters and switch them or just try to switch the letters while the nameplate is still attached to the jersey?
@pensjerseys2322
@pensjerseys2322 13 дней назад
Probably best to remove the plate first. You could look into buying a correct nameplate from a company. The original company didn't offer to correct it for you?

Varies per jersey and also number or letter size. Typically for large numbers I do 4.0 and 2.0 For patches and smaller numbers 3.0 and 1.3 or 1.5 Like I said though, it varies
