after over 40 years of quilting, I have had an AHA moment ! I measured my mats, every single one was off, that explains why when I moved from table to table why some pieces were suddenly the wrong size! THANK YOU
That is very helpful. Could you please demonstrate how to square up the fabric before using it. I’m a beginner and I always struggle with this problem, I never get it right. I appreciate your help.
Thank you for this, I have been guilty of using my mat to measure, but have read/heard that it’s not the best way. I’m also interested in what a couple of others have asked about, namely how do you square up your fabric first. Some pieces of fabric are very crooked. I’ve subscribed now so looking forward to your next video. Thanks again ❤
With a square ruler or the Stripology rulers also work well for squaring up blocks. Center the block under the ruler, line up critical points and trim one side of the block or possibly two if you can cut comfortably at a bit of an angle. Rotating cutting mats work well for squaring up blocks as you can cut one side, rotate, trim the next, etc. With the Stirpology rulers you can trim two sides easily, then rotate the block and trim the other two sides.
