CUTE & FLUFFY tarantula unboxing!! (pure blood Mexican species) 

I somehow fell down the rabbit hole of RU-vid and it led me to one of your feeding videos. I am a HUGE arachnophob but watching your videos (and other tarantula channels) has made me really want to get one for myself lol 😂 I don’t know what kind but I really want one 🖤🕷 now I just have to convince my husband and kids that we should get one

We had LOADS of Arizona blonds on our property, specially around our koi pond in Az 🌵. Extremely docile. I will say that over the years perhaps we fed them too much as we began to feel like the cricket-piazza delivery couple. After a few years the females would feel our vibrations as we walked over the koi pond crossings at night. Which would bring them out like a dinner bell. If my wife was digging in the garden they would come out to see what the fuss was about. You can simply let them walk onto your hand if you have to move them a few feet away from a spot your working in. The males would come courting during the monsoon. Always funny to find where they would end up… wrapped around a door knob for example 😳. Best part is they kept the bark scorpions at bay. We never had any issues with bark scorpions. They must be delicious to the Az blonds :). Rattlesnakes, now that’s a different story.🙄

I've had a huge fear of spiders my whole life, but seeing how you handle your wee fuzzy friends, has given me a new appreciation for them. I have never been big a fan of spiders at all. I am not however, the kind of person who immediately kills them when I see them. I always just let them be, or relocate them outside. You do a really great job in your videos making them seem not so intimidating. So much so that I am seriously considering getting one. They really are beautiful in their own way. Some are even kind of cute and that is something that I never thought that I would say. 😃

Wow the A chalcodes is gorgeous ❣️❣️ I have one & she’s much darker. I love the lighter ones She’s also super friendly. She wants out of her enclosure all the time. I may rehouse her. Her enclosure is plenty of room. I do take her out about once a week. She just walks all over me then lands. And stays for a bit! I just love her!

Hi Kat !! I got a special Aphonopelma. It was discovered in 2016 by Moellendorfi & that is her name. No common name. She is a offspring of one of the spiders that he found & bred, so she is 6 or 7 years old. Her carapace is yellow gold. She looks like velvet to me. Extremely gentle !! Google his name if you want too 😊

Kat, you are so amazing! As I come into spider season here, you give me courage to deal with the huge wildlife spiders! I’m truly scared to death of them! I have 3 acres here and a pool! Omg, the spiders I have seen have absolutely terrified me! Your videos give me courage! Thank you 🙏!

Let start off by saying this: I’m a 6’8 285lbs Blk man and I was INSANELY afraid of spiders…. Until I discovered you and your videos! You know, so many other RU-vid channels show tarantulas either fighting, or eating cute things that either scare you to death, or make you hate them more! But this is the very FIRST time I’ve ever felt even a MODICUM of affection for an arachnid, and it’s all because of YOU. I used to think, “The only good spider is a ….., “ but thanks to you, I’ve changed the way I see them. You’ve done SO much for my arachnophobia, and for the first time, I see spiders (specifically Tarantulas) for the beautiful creatures that they are… May Anansi continue to bless you! 😋🕷

I need to stop binging you so much; now I want an arachnid collection 😂 I probably won’t because of the commitment (my son is enough for me and sometimes I’m away from home for a period of time). I also like to hold/show affection with pets and I’m sure they would not like that lol but the thought of having a cute jumping spider or tarantula is so sick!

I started using reptisoil because of you and I LOVE it so much!!! It's super dry where I live and I find it holds the humidity much more than anything else, my tarantulas can burrow easier, and the burrow is more stable. So glad I picked up a bag!!!

I think it would be wise to consider as mentioned age of the tarantula and compare them by photos right after moulting. Exoskeleton changes colour as it's getting worn out and spider older. Nevertheless considering mishmash with Davus genus it would not be surprising to discover similar nuances regarding other genera.

YoU mUrDeReD YoU'rE pOtHoS pLaNtS! 🤣 Glad to hear I'm not the only one that leaves substrate or enclosures in their car from time to time. I get weird looks when someone asks to throw something in my trunk. I always have a couple small enclosures in my car and I regularly forget to bring in the large bags of substrate until I need it and realize it's still in my trunk. But you never know whats gonna happen or what you will find when your out and about....so I always keep that thang on me (thang being a small enclosure or two). Gorgeous A. chalcodes btw!

Definitely a favorite video of mine. You did something I can only dream of right now - held a tarantula in your hands! I can never own a T myself because my wife is deathly afraid of them, and refuses to reside in the same house or apt. as one. However, holding a tarantula in my hand/s one day is on my bucket list :)

SO CUTE!! i love Aphonopelma chalcodes! my second tarantula i ever bought was a mature female and i still have her, now i own 4 chalcodes in total and multiples of other species too so i get it 😂 i also have a male who is about to mature soon so hopefully i can get some fuzzy little babies from them soon🥰

I'm using almost 100% coconut fiber substrate to keep it the moisture down a little bit in my Aphonopelma Chalcodes in with a water dish of course, I think it will do well with it. Beautiful tarantula's btw the Mexican Blonde is so gentle as she moves.

i could watch you make enclosures all day, it's quite relaxing and while most of them look the same you take the time to be particular for each spider or tarantula. Aphonopelma (like most genera that get popular in the hobby) is a mess, but A. calcodes has a pretty large range, and you end up with coloration variants between localities. Your "Arizona Blonde" is probably a "New River" coloration, which is north of Phoenix, whereas the ones south (and west) of Phoenix are darker. Also, your T. vagans (the new one) looks just like my T. sabulosus, which is native to Guatemala and the southern tip of Mexico. I wonder if you might have gotten a T. sabulosus instead (I have 2 of each).

@tarantula kat Hey girl! Great video, once again! Looking at the plant you showed on this video, I have those here (I LOVE my plants!) Idon't know if you know that you can just keep re-rooting them. So, the one you have, just take a good long'ish piece & cut it off (I do it with a few vines) then, take a couple leaves off the cut off end & put in some water and it'll root! I have given away plant after plant this way. You may already know this but, helpful tip if you didn't! Let me know if you have any questions 🤗 Keep up the great work love!

Beautiful specimen. On the subject of T.vagans - if you google for a bit (using the old name - Brachypelma vagans) you should be able to find a paper on the color forms of this species. It seems there are no less than FOUR color forms of T.vagans found in the wild. I first stumbled upon this article when I got concerned about my specimen having a brown carapace for a long time - now it turned black as well meaning that I've got the classic hobby form. I was wondering if the other color forms are present in the hobby and/or if they will be properly introduced with time like with the OBT color forms.

@tarantulakat my vagans is in slight death curl gotten her some water over last few days and just got her to take 2 small crickets so hoping she pulls through with that. She molted and was fine till a few days ago when I noticed the curl set in but yesterday couldn't even take food so its good progress

Hi I am from Australia and own T's we obviously can not own exotic inverts or arachnids from other counties. But the Mexican blonde reminds me a lot of our selenotypus species. The two toned body, slits in the legs and also fluffy legs.
