If you can, check out your local bird sanctuary! :) There are SOOOOOOO many birds there that need a loving home! And parakeets!? Oh my goodness! There are typically large aviaries with so many in there that you wouldn't be able to choose just one! It's wonderful to have this symphony of parakeet sounds in the home. We had 28 at one time. They needed a home with larger cages, and we had it! I miss it so much. I would bring home as many as I could again as soon as I have the right place for them, which is hopefully in 10 years. A room built especially for them with a 3 season porch area that can be closed off during cold times, plenty of toys and perches, and a floor that will be super easy to clean up after them (they pooh every 5 to 10 minutes, so clean up can be a pain, but so necessary). We just came across a purple baby budgie at our local PetCo. I'd love to grab the little guy, too, but he/she is getting picked on in the case. I can't put my Klutz through the loss of another bird again. I hope you were able to get a sweet little bird to keep you company! They are fun to train, too!

He will give you food and talk to you, but you can not understand him. Sometimes you see other birds, but not a human. Never. No one that is like you.. You can talk to. Whould you be lonely? I think so. In nature, this kind of birds living in big groups. So, two are the minimum count, better are four!

i also bought 2 budgie/parakeets and they sit quietly on the lowest perch and only 1 parakeet/budgie went on another perch and cane back, after they saw this they started screeching and chirping!

Most budgies are very scared in new environments and hearing other budgies makes them feel safe.

@@progamer-fg1hg They are fine, it can take a couple of days for new budgies to eat you may dont see them eating even that they do eat. Important is that the food is easy to find for them and that you avoid give the a space they can feel safe at meaning a cage above your eye level and ideally close to a wall or even a corner, avoiding loud noises and for the first time leaving them alone until they calmed

OMG! Those are fantastic names! When my husband first got 2 parakeets 12.5 years ago, he started with this niche naming system: Bit and Byte. Then he kept going with Mac, Router, Dns, Wins, IP, Sway, and I cannot remember the rest off hand! But he was in IT for a long time and decided to name them all after things in that industry. We had 28 at one time...and a sun named Tiki. Miss them all, and the symphony of all of them singing was wonderfully loud! I cannot wait to go and rescue 10 to 20 when I have the set up for them to fly, play, perch, get some sunshine, and be able to clean up the floor easily!

Sorry for your lost. I too lost my Albino budgies just yesterday 9th Aug 2021. MY heart breaks for the other one....worrying he will grieve & feel lonely. Our male budgie has a girlfriend, she’s a year and a half old kitty! they play tag chasing each other back and forth from room to room and then they spend a lot of time on the window sill watching the sparrows outside in the lilac bush. When the cat is downstairs the budgie (Hermes) will say “where’s Athena”! They are so sweet together. And he loves these videos as well!

If your "Sunshine" was in its homeland where it belongs, it would be flying about three miles per day, finding its favorite foods, flying with it's flock and having a family. Birds do not belong in a cage - EVER.

Even though I have 4 budgies and one is named 'Sunshine', I agree with you. They have never had their wings clipped and they have never had a door on their large flight cage. They fly around all over my house to many perches and only go in the cage if they want to. They really love their cage and spend a lot of time in it, even though the food is outside. @@carolwade3094 In the Australian Outback most budgies live less than 4 years and mostly die from exhaustion and dehydration, plus they are constantly hunted by hawks. My 13 year old budgie wouldn't be alive in the wild and hes flying around and chirping like a young bird so maybe have some respect for bird owners.

My budgies like the vacuum cleaner too, handy when I have to use it. Of course, they may be complaining, they make sure that I know when they do complain. They enjoy the music I play in between budgie videos.

Please if you just have one bird in a cage get another. Three birds often going up on one so get four if you have three so they can all buddy up. One birdie is too lonely. The birds live in groups. They need each other to be happy. You will not regret it. Memories will be very happy.
