@@Pitapat819this is just a pure speculation but from what I've seen in kr, announcers there are usually capable to speak English, like it's their job requirement but that announcer specifically lived at us once before iirc Edit: it's Canada not us
Rekkles' master all along. He went to korea to befriend smash and poby (plus 1 more korean jugler/top laner) and then come back to europe, start his own team featuring his korean friends and himself as the players and win each and every lec split.
@@Tf-bg7hi Ye that's why I said "1 more korean jungler/top laner" because T1's academy top and jungler don't seem to be doing that well. Their jungler is kinda mid but the toplaner ain't it for sure
@@Frandahab who cares 😂 she's an attractive lady who communicates well. If you think the word “hot” is offensive, then y'all shouldn't be on the internet, my son
Rekkles Smash duo radiates big father / son energy. And they played so well even in the game they lost. Today's win is a big morale boost for the team, but Rekkles truly needs his veteran experience to hold these kids together from needlessly inting every game
dude the translator lady is really sweet but she almost seems like a pre school teacher giving rekkles so many vocal affirmations xD its actually really sweet though haha also, so happy that hes havin a good time overseas
It's an eastern asian thing, in languages like Korean and Japanese, it's really common to sort of affirm people as they talk, it's considered a way of saying that you're paying attention to what someone says.
Different language aye, but her primary audience is still home audience, home culture. It really is hard navigating cross cultural communication, and then the international audiences just add layers of complexity@@philhwang2005
@@xemery yeah I can confirm that, it's like we are trying to show that we really appreciate their opinion too. Guess I will tone that down now after seeing this lol
Hey, I'm learning English by My own. Uhmm... I have a question about your comment. Is it correct to say "When she starts" instead of "When she started"? And Why? Sorry and thanks. 😅
Since OP used "my soul left my body" instead of "my soul leaves my body," you would use past tense. Instead, if they said something like "When she starts speaking English, my soul leaves my body," starts would be more grammatically correct.
@@OliBoboPlays "when she started" would be correct as it is in the past tense. "when she starts" would be talking about when she will speak in the future.
Actually it’s a bit confusing since it is a mixed-tense sentence, which I guess some could consider incorrect, but this reads very naturally to a native English speaker. It’s sort of a shorthand way of saying, “The point in the video at which she starts speaking English, was the point when my soul left my body.” You can certainly say, “My soul left my body when she started speaking English” even with that order reversed, but despite that perhaps being strictly more correct, the way OP wrote it reads perfectly fine to me and is a sentence structure I see very often and have probably used myself despite that.
@@khkim7259 don't worry it's just a joke 😅 the rat king has almost zero knowledge in korean and he's just playing around to get funny reactions from chat
This interview made my day! The answers of Rekkles and smash are impressive. As a Korean, her translation is actually the best I’ve ever seen in this sports/e sports scene. She exactly catches the nuance of Korean and translate it into English w/o omitting!! Wow
@@nigapt haha she mainly translated for the Korean viewers, so she only spoke English when she needed to interview Rekless. I'm sure even Rekless would have liked some translations when she was talking to Smash. The first question was basically about what they prepared for the game, and Smash said top-jgl-mid did very well that he thought as long as his laning was good then they'd win the game... then Caedrel started doing his own translation so I couldn't really understand the actual video audio haha
@@nigapt Of course, smash and she talked about the in-game play set 1-3. For me, that was a normal interview content. What I got impressed is the smash’s answer which she translated to Rekk. Like “thx for the team for bringing Rekk. This is a big chance for me, can be a turning point in my pro life. So I’ll keep grinding.”
Blud said they're so cute. I was thinking he was going to take a screenshot of Rekkles and Smash but bro MADE SURE to include the interviewer too LMAO 🤣🤣
If this Rekkles was here from the start he mightve been the western Support GOAT. Incredibly well spoken and happy, despite the stress of being a T1 LCK CL support. Love to see it.
tbh I don't think the West is that desirable for him anymore, a lot of people and "fans" have spent the last 2 years or so being absolutely vile towards him and about him. Moving to Korea where he clearly is not getting harassed everytime he appears on screen is clearly doing wonders for his mental health
Tbh I don't think he would be such a good support if he wasn't an adc before, I really feel like there is an added value for playing the other role of the duo lane
Let's be real the competition in west compared to east is so far, how many years has it been that a western team won worlds? Yes, west is competitive as well but on east LPL and LCK? If you watch games on those it feels like you either watching an LCK/LPL stomping on an west team which is also an LCK/LPL team or a match from LCK/LPL feeling like you are watching a finals but in reality it's just a regular one. I know this would get hate or what but a lot of caster already said this, the weaker teams on LCK/LPL what I mean weaker is those who can't able to enter Worlds can get toe to toe with west team that qualifies to Worlds and that's the reality now.
Thanks for covering LCK CL! We, the non-korean fans, really appreciates what ur doing, waking up early just for their matches. You earned my respect, Rat King, and it wont be cancelled
Honestly if he is like some other foreigners, he could be eating a lot of takeout and meat if he is not used to more traditional / home cooked dishes 😂
@@kbs5059I don’t think it has anything to do with food. I agree Korean cuisine is a juicer, but him looking healthier has probably little to do with the food.
This interview was so interesting, I like how good the chemistry seems to be between Rekkles and Smash! I didn't think much about how agressive smash is while playing until Caedrel pointed it out, but this might actually make it easier for Rekless to play, since Rekkles is used to playing with Hyllisang. And the translation by the interviewer is S tier! She is really good!
him saying what i was thinking, they play really well together, and as time goes on and rekkles learns the language better and the communication will get so much better you'll see this academic team get so much more consistent
Rekkles is so inspiring. Moving to a different environment and start again is something most people won't do. He's working hard for it. You can apply that to any aspect in life.
Ive rarely ever followed the lec before but i've become a huge rekkles fan! His dedication and drive is so admirable i'll def continue to follow him further into the future!
@@galador8089 I mean yeah, but my point still stands. It’s like when people sing and their accent sounds American. It’s because the accent is neutral and that’s just what your accent defaults to. Unless you grow up in the uk or Australia while learning English. Then you absorb those accents. But more often than not, people have a bit of their native accent while sounding closer to American than British or Aussie.
Watching LCK and LCK CL for the longest time, and its weirding me out that a player is speaking straight English and that the translation is the other way around. xD
@@afrodietea clearly better for his mental too. He look so wrung out by life last year and the years before, it was very painful to see. He seems to be doing much better now and it's nice to see him smile genuinely

True Smash and Rekkles are Great Duo only Dal and Guwon need to improve their Plays and to Poby he need to be Consistent with his plays sometimes he's griefing, sometimes he's really good.. still need to improve 👍 KEEP IT UP T1 ACADEMY
This is going to be so beneficial for smash long term like HE IS playing with a veteran ad carry himself who has played at the highest level in europe a worlds finals and multiple worlds appearance and he gets to learn from THE rekkles so happy for this academy challenger team

just realized that rekk was wearing skin tight sleeve idk what was called but the reason he's wearing that is to hide his tattoos since having a tattoo is a big taboo in south Korea

Not only in Korea, pretty much in Asia tattoos is looked bad upon. So TV Stations always censor them as to not leave a bad example for underage who watch the shows

Her English is great but honestly her translations were often missing important details for example in the last question Rekkles specifically mentioned that it must also have been hard for his teammates to accept and play with a foreigner and she completely ignored the translation for that. It's a very important part of his message because it shows that not only are the fans supporting him but his own teammates who are in some ways also sacrificing some comfort to play with Rekkles. There were other notable mistranslations throughout but overall I'm happy they gave them so much times to answer a lot of questions.
It's also not like she's translating in real time like the translators in LCK. She has to practically memorize his response and say it back in Korean. It's hard to get all the details right that way.
@@lbguitar she's translating as they talk, making sure to not miss any details that may result in mistranslations. That's a massive difference when their response is long and has many details.
This translator is so good, pls promote her to the LCK translation if Jeesun is not available, the other translator in LCK is so boring, can't remember the name tho but pls LCK, give this translator a raise and promotion

Rekkles is just one of those few players that, to me, you just believe he WANTS it. Some players I feel like just kind of fell into doing well some splits but to me it was like Perkz, Rekkles, and Caps that you just felt wanted it bad. To me a lot of people in NA can say they want to win worlds and I did believe Doublelift, but you could throw a stone and hit someone that is in LCS for a paycheck. imo Rekkles is proving to the world he wants to try to win a worlds before he retires.
Not sure if there are rules by LCK regarding tattoos. But in Asia, it's does still have a slight negative connotation to it, whereas in the west it's widely accepted as a self expression or art.

She didn't translate Rekkles's words well. He meant that after winning his teammmates would feel better as a team and do better in the future, but she translated his words as " Oh, as we won today now I know my team can win." Imagine how his teammates would feel hearing this from Rekkles! It's as if he was doubting them all that time. Sometimes in Korea they chose interpretors by appearance rather than abilities. That's a problem. Just think how Faker's words in Germany were misinterpreted and how the public reacted. A shock for all. Wow! I had to add this. Aftet that she really contracted his words so much they lost meaning..
I'm Korean. Don't worry. Most people think that Martin is a talented, humble player who cares about his teammates. It's an honor to have such a great player playing in the LCK CL. I sincerely hope to see it in the LCK next year.
