The girl at the start, represents Taemins good side, while when he wears the black, that represents his bad side, this entire music video basically revolves around him being in conflict with those two sides, the blue roses symbolise the unattainable, as those flowers don't naturally occur in the wild. The car acts as a physical reminder of the bad he's done, that is why at the end he sets it slight.

The whole "Press it" album and the live stages of each song is FIRE and SEXUALITY stage in Japan is IMMORAL

Fun fact: This song is originally written from Bruno Mars and composed from The Stereotypes (aside from him, they also worked with Red Velvet, NCT, EXO, MINZY, SE7EN, Tiffany, Seohyun, SHINee, BoA, Baekhyun, Lay, Jessi, Super Junior, etc.) The demo version of this song took years prior to Taemin's release and it was purchased by SM Entertainment.

Ben nooooooo. I'm so glad you finally heard this song because it's obviously great. But I was hoping you'd watch the performance video because the dance for this song is sooooooo good. You should add it or a live stage to a twitch stream. When Taeyong said in that one SuperM interview that he loves Taemin because he's "naughty" on stage, THIS is the song I think of lol.

The swap from the girl to him, finding himself as both the one committing the crime but the victim in the boot is saying to me that when the darker and selfish things that he acted on actually was hurting himself all along. The desire for all he wanted when he finds its blue roses is like what was the point whereas the victim version doesn’t even take notice of the roses cause that’s not what’s important to them. Two sides of a person and who you CHOOSE to be. Also who you could be and when you accept those choices and face your true nature. The car on fire burning that old life or the paths that was on before and making a choice. He’s neither the casual smart dressed nor the leather jacket version of himself but the new suited man who is possibly a mix of the best of both. Also feels like his change as he matures more and was developing his sound, his solo and career. (Side note he is still standing on the car covered in petrol when he drops the lighter, so part of my mind also saw it as like the pyre a Phoenix would be reborn from, which made me thing of Flame Of Love MV. He released this in feb of 2016 and Sayonara Hitori in the July that year which is beautiful and about rebirth as well so almost like an old version of himself is ending in Press Your Number passing through a kind of reincarnation process in Syonara and emerging the reborn Phoenix in Flame of Love. Both Mvs I think you would LOVE visually as well as musically).

"Press Your Number" came out in 2016, so at this point Taemin is 22 years old and he is not a little boy any more. LOL The story in the MV is supposed to be Taemin's alter ego. He is battling himself. The guy with the gun who is committing the crimes is his -- or his character's -- inner demons and when you see him tied up and regretting his actions that is supposed to be the good side of Taemin. You see flashes of both the girl and him tied up because it's supposed to be alternate realities or situations depending on which part of himself is in control. How I interpret the blue rose is, it's supposed to signal the moment where things are not real -- these are moments where Taemin's character is battling with his mind to try and keep a grip on reality. The more roses, the further from reality he is, etc.Being tied up and unable to speak is a metaphor for being trapped inside your mind by self-doubts and indecision, etc. The colors blue/aqua/green play a big part in a lot of what SHINee does because aqua blue/green is SHINee's fan color, so it is used not only as part of the aesthetic of the MV, but it is also supposed to represent Shawols (SHINee fans) and the fact that even as a soloist, Taemin is still a member of SHINee, etc. Press Your Number" was originally wrote and composed by Bruno Mars.When SM bought the rights to the song and gave it to Taemin, Taemin and his team translated the words into Korean and changed the style and beat up a little to fit Taemin's style and to make it acceptable for a Korean audience. (Believe it or not, but the original lyrics were even more racy than this. LOL) The choreography for the song also was 100% Taemin inspired. There's a reason why Taemin is considered one of THE BEST dancers and artists in the industry And as you can see, that's why people say he embodies MJ. No one can do what Taemin does -- many have attempted to copy him -- but there is just something special about the way he moves that can't be duplicated. "Press Your Number" is the title track off his Press It album and it was the second release from the album. You should check out the other song and MV from this album, "Drip Drop." Both ""Press Your Number" and "Drip Drop" were filmed in L.A. Because California is a union state the staff and backup dancers needed to be from California and they needed to use union members in order to get permits and to be given permission to film there, so that is one of the reasons why he decided to use non-Asian, western backup dancers. Although, as you saw, with "Press Your Number" they made several versions of this MV. But for "Drip Drop" they only made a performance version, and you will understand why when you see that MV --it's all about the performance. :D I can't wait for you to see Taemin in concert as a soloist. I honestly love Taemin’s music! I didn’t even know much about him or Shinee before I came across his music, but it gave me really “different” vibes compared to other songs you know??
