You made your face cut and your hinge right where I’d have done it too… using the little angle to swing the extra weight over straight! Yeah you kept a good 3-4 inches of hinge so you just needed a little more pull over… not a big deal…down clean and safe! I’m just an old tree freak and I’m usually using a big open face…smiling face cut so it can’t meet the two sides and blow up my hinge and I use the vertical so those fibers can really move and flex… I really like to keep it together and then I work from the top tip back into my stump so I’m getting really good and equal length piece’s so they can get pushed or pulled into a pile and grabbed with the grapple bucket and it’s usually like 4 foot long length’s…. If they want firewood then I will make him bring me the bundles to where they want to stack it up and I’ll smack the stack three times and make them 16 inch long pieces…. My old buddy has the outdoor boiler and he’s great because there’s not need to make small chunks as long as it’s a good length it’s going into the box out his bobcat bucket…. I’ve really gotten super into doing that vertical 4 foot long slice down right at the back of my hinge so those hinge fibers don’t break out! Makes it so much easier to just bounce back into the tree that is getting held up off the dirt or ground… drop the chucks off and then kick over the stump! Been buying the plastic 20vt Dewalt battery adapter’s off eBay for $12 bucks and they have them for all those older 18vt kits and the newer models too… I’ll grab the grinder from Ryobi or whatever brand then pop in the adapter and I can then pop on a 20vt Dewalt battery and run the tools!!! You can usually get the whole 5-6 piece tool kit for a couple bucks at the yard sale and flee market type deals and they are just fantastic work truck tools because you don’t have huge money in them so if they get crushed or stolen it’s not really as horribly expensive out of pocket!!! Got several of the grinder’s now and I grab the Diablo 5” or 6” cutoff wheels so when I’ve got a piece of fence or something in my way it’s easy to knock it down out my way… I found an old 1” bull rope that’s around 200’ and an old metal three wheel block and tackle setup that has the thicker then 1/2” rope around the wheel’s so it’s been really fun to pull some pretty good size sticks back over themselves with the pulley system… $120 bucks for both down from the $100 apiece they were marked… I didn’t really need them but it’s really kinda funny how much I’ve been using them since I grabbed them…saving out my decent condition rope’s by just using it as my main pull line was what I’m thinking… I’m going to clean them up and bag them up and toss them into my barn loft and store them until I really need them… the couple of kids who I’ve been getting help from are totally clueless about how you are supposed to treat your equipment! I’m not sure what sloppy Joe’s operation would have produced guy’s who don’t make wraps when collecting a tree rope? I had two piles yesterday and just freaked out and explained the correct way to collect my rope back up!!! The one dude will drop the saw’s from the hip position… instead of just bending a little and sitting it down!!! I mentioned it then an hour and a half later he was doing it again…so I just grabbed a 4 foot long piece of 8”-10” thick branch wood and spun around three times to get some momentum and I launched it towards him! Saying next time it’s going to be upside your head jackazz!!! Stop beating on my equipment or I’m going to make you really sorry… you got a low back problem or something like that and you can’t bend down or something??? He just has been doing that for years he said… really doesn’t hurt anything really? I explained that it looks like you’re angry or extremely careless and our clients are always watching so we never want to send that impression about our workmanship or services quality… and I made him a little wrapped carabiner rope so he can lower it down if he needs to but there’s no dripping saw’s…?

I’d have cut my face cut pointing right where the camera was in the first location so she was coming out towards the 4:39 O’clock if 12 is directly behind it… 30 degrees towards the right side to compensate for that head weight needing to be pulled over more to fall forward.??? I absolutely would just plunge into the tree two feet above my hinge and rip the four feet of center out running about 1.5-2” behind the horizontal hinge and create it’s back side with the vertical… then I’d stop cutting it through and pull it over while just tickling the back meat to continue to control it’s forward or fall direction…. With the good vertical hinge it’s going to bend over and not jump off the stump!
