My man got some great knees! A close up like that on my knees would make you jump back in horror. Road rash, and more road rash, an adolescence being a hardcore BMXer left it’s marks. But I had a BLAST!
Nice work! It's hard to find a video on doing that. How long did that hold up? A lot of people say if you blend like that instead of doing the while panel it'll start peeling in a year or so.
Still good, this was cut on a body line, there is something called a burn in where you blend in the middle of a panel and that's where depending on how its done it will come back and show up or peel. This is two coats of clear stopped on a body line so it visually disappears but is still two layers on a properly sanded sub straight
This is perfect cause I’m gonna blend the top half of my Honda by the body lines and it proved that my theory was correct, you CAN just blend on a body line and buff it
What caused the line. Im trying to geta raised edge out of my truck. Due to someone before me painting from the moulding down. Then i took moulding off, left a raised edge, feels like peeling a hard boiled egg with your nail. Any tips would be appreciated
Not sure without seeing it but if they cut the clear line and hid it with the mounding then you just need to lightly sand the clear line with 2000,2500 staying off the original paint as much as possible to not cut through, then buff it like I do in this video.
@@MrFireman164 do you have instagram. I can show you some pics and see what you think. It looks like they taped off the moulding st the bottom snd painted the bottom of the doors. Then when i pulled moulding off, it left the edge of new/ old paint at bottom of moulding
I recently had a small paint job done by a professional shop in town, the guy did a sloppy job and left a clear coat line without blending. I came across your video and it helped a lot. This is my weekend DIY project. Thank you so much for the excellent video...
My clear coat is gone but the paint is still decent now I know I can add more clear coat and as for the tape lone just lightly sanded and buff with some compound .
There are other video that blend clear coat lines that a way more complicated this is by far the quickest and easiest that most people can do in there home garage
Thanks for all the great content, question, how do I get rid of tape lines after basecoat, prior to clearcoat. I was thinking just 2000 grit on the hard edges and then clearcoat? It’s not the whole door panel, 2’ x 2’ area in the center of the door. On the hinge between front and rear door. Rolled back the tape after Basecoat, and there is a hard line, just finished drying 10min ago. Or apply another base coat on the edges before it completely dry eyes.
You want to soft edge the masking tape by pulling it up on the paint side of the tape before paint, the dust it in several light coats, to keep from having a hard line.
I saw some blue tape after taking plastic masking off my vehicle but still see a little of the plastic what grit do I use sandpaper to blend that spot in and remove the rasidue that left there. I took some up with my hand but it still little spots in one place though all have to do is blend in the small spot.
I’ve only got one real noticeable paint line after painting my bumper. But it’s a thick boy. Is it the same technique or should I just block it off with 320 and blend again?
When i started to cut the line the cleat coat does'nt disappear, cant create a transition. It goes down the clear coat when sand and cant cut the line. Where is the trick please? Thanks
I am doing this on my truck fenders. The BIG issue I have is the color not matching up well. The line is very nicely smoothed out which I did with 1000 grit sand paper wrapped around a cleaning sponge. This got the edges smoothed out really well.
I got hard tape line from priming. Trying to prime the sides of a bumper I repaired then blend it into the rest of the bumper. How do I get rid of the Hardline?
When you blend a panel like this make sure the clear covers the paint completely or you may issues, sand it down with 6-800 and repaint making sure the base stays away from the clear line.
thank you I got and old 1995 BMW 740, the top look like shit. yesterday , I sande it down an gave it a a few coats of primer and paint. I forgot to fold the tapa back, so I Gog solid lines were I put it. but with 1500 grid I'll feather it back . should I wait for it to get hard or do it now. it was a backyard special. all spraycans.
Finally found a great simple video with great instructions. Thanks for this video. I am going to try blending in my silver car today. I let the base coat and clear dry for 48 hours just to be safe. Fingers crossed!!!
Did you have any problems with the clear coat pealing on the other side of the line you was sanding? I tried it and caught myself pealing some of the already layed down clear coat. If so, how did you fix it? Thats where im at now.
@@MrFireman164 The old clear coat. I was gonna just sand the line down, not going past the line. Give it a small spray of paint to cover the line. Right now, i feel stuck
So this vid the car was painted and I stayed way below that body line and blended the bad area, then clear coated up the the body line and stopped there, it leaves a clear edge where the tape stops so that’s what I was sanding out. Also it best to back mask or use soft edge tape in a line like that.
Great video! I just painted my bumper and had some of these lines. The only problem is that I don’t think the paint that I got matched very well so it looks like 2 different shades. Is there anything I could do to try and blend the actual color coat in?
@@boddisonsdelcolservices796 depends where the blend is , if it’s low you can cut it at a line like I show in the vid but if it’s in the middle of the panel it’s more tricky, it’s what separates amateur painters from pros, watch motivated painters, or the gun man on blending base.
I got a very small edge, applied two coats on a diy hack, so you think I can get away with just polishing? I can’t even try now as it is spray can stuff so I’m scared about it. Thank you!
Wish I could add video. Uhh I’ve added the clear coat and I have really harsh lines, is the only way to blend it now to remove the clear coat and sand the colour coat till it matches and readd the clear coat?
@@yohex I usually do what I did in this video because it’s on the body the line and it makes it a lot harder to see the work that was done. I’m not sure what you have but if any bare paint is showing then yes you will need to sand and reshoot. Always make sure you clear way past the paint area so it’s clear on clear then you can cut it like I did in this video
