The kitchen is absolutely stunning! Thanks for recording building the fireplace, watched it from beginning to end, and kept wishing it didn't have to be Timelapse, it is my son's dream to build one. I sent him the video.
Ya, me too. When I shot that video it wasn’t for a RU-vid channel, but only to document some of it. If I had it to do over I would have filmed more. But on the other hand it took me two months to build the fireplace
@@logcabinlifestyle Ya I totally get that. Was this the first fireplace you had ever built? or have you built others? You just really knew what you were doing so I was wondering if it was strictly research or experience. Kinda let's me know if it's possible for us to build one, never having done it before. If research do you have any book or channel recommendations for learning?
My great grandpa never had the power go out. Power did not arrive until he had passed. How shocking the past few decades of progress have been. I appreciate that you took this beautiful cabin built with hand hewn logs and built such an appropriate, wonderful fireplace.
What an absolutely gorgeous fireplace… just wow. I would love something like that. A dream fireplace. You sure have an awesome Cabin. Just a ton of character and potential.
My dream has always been to build a cabin, but I'd love to have a cabin with history. This cabin and the way you've restored it, is just absolutely perfect. The stone fireplace adds beauty, comfort and security. It must feel so nice to gather around it.
Howdy- your fireplace and stove is a great focal point for the cabin. Has a nice, cozy look to it. Love how you fixed for the stove. Take care and God bless
Thank you my friend. I started watching a few of your videos! It’s been nice. I feel like I have known you all my life. If that makes sense. It’s nice to have like minded friends
You did an awesome job with the fireplace, splitting stones, and moving the cook stove in place. Hanging the pans by the stove gives it a rustic look. Looks very cozy to me.Well done.
It is so nice to see you put the fireplace within the cabin! I cringe whenever I see half the fireplace stone outside losing all that thermal heat stored in the stone. Beautiful Job!
It's such a bea-u-ti-ful thing to see and a great pleasure to know that there are still people out there who are willing and able to learn these once common skills, then put in this level of good old fashioned HARD WORK to complete a wonderful domicile.
I would love to have a cabin like that with everything that you have in that kitchen. It is really beautiful! I am going to have to bring watch you other videos. I have seen the first part of the fireplace build and now this one. Great job! Splitting that stone was interesting, I have not ever seen that done before. Thank you for sharing this video.
40 year stone mason here. what a great job. of course I pick out little things. that's just being a picky old fart stonemason. god bless keep up the great work.
This reminds me of work my dad used to do in Cyprus and Greece, wells and fireplaces were built in the same traditional way with stone and stove attached, those skills went to America with the pioneers. looks like granite you are using if you were lucky to have limestone it may be a little easier, you should be proud of that fireplace and stove space, a beautiful job thank you for posting the video to remind us of traditional building techniques
Nice stonework it looks great! I'm building a Rumford fireplace in my cabin so I can get to more reflected heat. Your fireplace is ideal for cooking. I'm not going to cook over my fire like you are.
Jerry, this is my first video I’ve seen of yours, (and I am now a subscriber 😀) this cabin build is looking beautiful, I would love to live in there! What kind of support “if any” is under the floor directly beneath the fireplace? Also, wouldn’t you want a thicker bottom to put a fire on?
Fantastic craftsmanship you are a true spirited pioneer. I also will be building a traditional cabin in the summer of 2023 with a fire place in mind. You emphasized on the foundation, do you have any other videos on the prep phase? I would be great to see your technique. Thanks for sharing good stuff !!!
There just a little in this video. It’s an after thought though. You can always ask me questions if you need to know. I will help with whatever I can Q@A at the cabin (bathroom, cat, kitchen, fireplace foundation) & sneak peek at Christmas special ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VO9a4GfCFCc.html
This is great. I'm building a fireplace much like this one, except none of these techniques will help me because it's a 3D digital prop for a video game.
Hey Jerry, there's alot of videos I haven't seen yet sorry the lord just brought you recently, 🙏🏻 ❤️ I would also (lOVE)to see what a cross he would have you build I'm going to pray about it ,I can imagine how beautiful it would be 😉till later🙏🏻
It’s already done! I built two of them and one of them overlooks our town. I’m trying to think if it is in one of my videos. I keep it lit every night. The people in town love it
God bless you! You're work is impeccable, and the result is spectacular looking! I saw, in the comments, that you salvaged a log cabin (I believe). How did you find it? If you don't mind me asking. I'm in Michigan and want to do something similar. Skip McCain
Hi, skip! I wrote a story about just that. How I found it that is. I called the store “the painter”. In time I will be sharing all of my story on here. It’s too deep it put one little text or even into one video. But you started with “God bless”! He is the painter. If you happen to be on Facebook search “The Painter Jerry Tyson”. You might be able to find the store.
Hello, it is very pretty, but did you leave the ventilation at the bottom and that it must come and go from the outside through the back of the chimney?
Thank you for taking the time to make and post a video. What I was interested in is how to put the damper in and how to build the chimney - is it lined, or just a void. Is there something at the top to keep out birds? And we never got to see the fireplace from the outside.
This video will help you a little more. I didn’t shoot the hole thing because at that time I didn’t know I was going to build a RU-vid channel with the videos. Yes it has a liner but no chimney cap. I don’t worry myself with birds. The things you need to know before building a fireplace, fireplace talk, the how to. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P8ohmQqkJVw.html
@@logcabinlifestyle Thank you for the quick reply. It is very interesting and you did a great job. We once owned a house with a cabin on the property. In the cabin was the most beautiful fieldstone fireplace. Now, I own 36 acres on the side of a mountain and I want to build a tiny house/cabin deep in the woods with a fieldstone fireplace to Airbnb. Your video told me that I can do it - If I can lift the rocks!
They are heavy no doubt. But if I can you can. Meaning I’m not a big guy at all. I wish i would have filmed more but I just didn’t know I was going to need it or i would have.
May as well;l get one of those power chisels w a diamond blade that fits on a cut off concrete saw 😂😅😂. Or save yourself 8 hours and buy a pallet of flagstone
Amazing. Id really like to learn this. Building an entire home as-well. Do you have experience building larger stone homes and fireplaces??? Are you hiring????
