Such a cool project, I’m really curious to see the full final plan. the freedom to build in a safe manner without having to submit everything for review kind of makes me jealous.
@simonyapp
@simonyapp 10 месяцев назад
I was thinking about this, it’s so refreshing, are there any planning laws at all for building on your land? It’s so controlling here in the UK! You can’t change your front fence without paperwork!
@davewilson8308
@davewilson8308 10 месяцев назад
@@simonyappI’m sure they needed a permit but not everyone files for paperwork. I’ve been building in the States for over 40 years and once had to get a permit to build a dog house on side of building I built.

Oliver is so cute! Very interesting build on top of shipping containers and I like the way you framed the windows in.
@andrewr2650
@andrewr2650 10 месяцев назад
@@davewilson8308 From their initial build they did have to file a land use permit, which they did. But from what was stated there was no plan reviews or inspections in their area for the types of structure they were building. I suspect their Barndominium is considered a barn, and that probably factors in. In my area, building a barn on Ag property you can file an Ag exempt permit and it isnt reviewed or inspected but the building is to be used "only for storage". Unfortunately you also have to have 20 acers to file ag exempt, which I don’t. That is not to say their rules are the same, but there are cases where plan reviews and inspections are not required based on zoning and building type . If they ever do build a traditional stick built house on the property that would most likely have to be inspected
