My dad's a plumber bud and I've seen him do this loads of times...done some plumbing too dad showed me loads.....done this myself when swapping some radiators in me lounge....saves loads of time ...when I did it the push fit seal came out of fitting cause pipe weren't really in line under floor...panic stations lol...went through a few fittings and water was hot...but speed fit blank came to rescue in end.......don't think I'd be brave enough to do it upstairs in someone else's house that's for sure ...enjoy your channel mate keep up the good work 👍

As far as snatches go, that went really well mate 👍🍻 i worked in Australia plumbing for 6yrs . They have crazy high water pressure. I hadn't been there long and decided to snatch a mains water tap as it was outside and i couldn't find the mains to turn the water off. Needless to say it didn't go well 🤣🤣 got it done but got soaked and now I'm traumatised

When I’ve had to do that I wrap electrical insulation tape around my thumb. So when I jam it over the cut end of copper pipe I don’t get burned or cut by by the sharp metal. Just a tip.

Many years ago was given the job of replacing a thermometer pocket in a 4" line above the boiler in a large old office block which had many different firms working in there over 4 floors. The electrician instead of taking the old thermometer to make sure he got the same diameter probe, just went and got a complete replacement. Of course the new probe didn't fit in the old pocket. So our boss gave me and my mate a freezing kit and on one saturday morning set off to do the job. boiler was off and cold, we turned all the valves off we could find in the boiler room, pump switched off and freezing kit put round the pipe each side of the pocket, check instruction on freezing kit for pipe size and time required to freeze the water. after the time elapsed we started to undue the pocket but water spurted out under pressure so gave another 15 or 20 minutes and check again, still pressure there. So after over an hour the water wasn't freezing so I said to my mate that we would have to snatch it, he did not like the thought of that but I said that, that is the only way we would get it done. So new pocket was taped up ready, my mate started undue the pocket and I stood ready to slam in the new one, oh and by the way we were stood on top of the boiler about 6 foot up. so, last turn, water spurting out the pocket flew out under the pressure and I slammed the new one in, but the old one on its way across the boiler room took out the one and only light bulb and the new pocket felt like it was cross threaded but I did not want take out because I probably wouldn't get it back in again especially as it was pitch black and I couldn't see anything. So I am stood there pushing the pocket in trying to hold back the water, meanwhile my mate had shot off somewhere, eventually he turns up about 15 minutes later with a torch, so with my adjustable I slowly tried to tighten the pocket and was grateful when iI felt it jump in to the threads so I didn't have to remove it. we said never again would we use a freezing kit also the electrician got an earfull as well. Sorry for the long story.

I had to do the same on an old farmhouse on old micro bore, but pipe was corroded and broke but luckily had a cap with me just in case until I got a coupling and sorted it. All fun 😂

I did a similar thing a couple of times, but I always quickly put a compression isolating valve (full bore) on, may come in handy later.

Also, good idea to protect the pipe work that’s in the concrete wall, the concrete will rot that copper in no time.

I once did a live snatch into a heating pipe for a rad. Unknown to me it was pulled up to the extent that as soon as it was cut it sprung down under the floorboard and brought a ceiling down... nightmare... you never forget those jobs do you?

I took over from someone else and changed a tap in a customers bathroom and was tightening the hose to the isolating valve. Next minute the valve falls off and boiling hot water spewing everywhere. Luckily a vinyl floor with floor drainage!

When the circumstances suit and it’s assessed ok .. why not ? The only bit I didn’t get was .. why not use the plastic pipe for the section to be Re plastered and therefore no acid attack problem from plaster on copper pipe ??

hi do you have a pipe freezing kit or have you used one in any of you videos?

I watched you using the micro bore cutter which I use. It is such an awkward tool because knurled whell to close the blade always gets slippery and has to be turned by pliers. Why not square wheel or one with a key type handle

Speedfit do a 15x10 reducer even quicker than having to tighten up a compresion fitting, got me out of trouble before!

Can you do this with a combi, as long as it is switched-off? At what bar does this become a problem to do, even with the boiler off? Typically my pressure set to around 1-bar. Would i be able to get a stop-end on if thing get out-of-hand? enjoying your videos. TIA

I would have clean the copper pipe before cutting as its gona be behind the wall every little precaution is necessary.. otherwise great job m8 well done !!

I wish we could get away with this but our company has a strict ban on using plastic fittings and pipe !! Not allowed compression fittings behind walls either! Argument of a lifetime ay! Good content sir keep up the good work don’t work to hard 👍

Is it fine to go up to 15mm from 10mm on any heating system?

Why do it? If it's sealed it will airlock and if f and e tank just bung it?.

A case of replacing microbore with 15 or snatching onto microbore with 15 which is best ( in terms of efficiency ) I gather that snatching on saves shit loads of time

Ok yeah I agree great snatch and showing your skills , but poking at the state of the heating I think probably could of down with a drain down , flush through/cleaner etc .

Love this live plumbing, I’ve been doing the same on gravity fed central heating systems for years with speedfit fittings and it can get a bit hot and wet but saves hours of venting f**kin customers radiators. 👌

Why did you not freeze the pipes, and yes before you say "you cant", would of saved getting wet, it's easy and saves loads of potential problems.

Unless you shut off the boiler, before you cut in a pipe work, that way circulation pump for central heating, wouldn’t push the water and increase the pressure and you prevent your hands from getting scalded … you’re warrior, but I prefer all that pipe work to be in a large size , because of sludge inside a system, easily could block up the the pipe work, I completely, understand why you done it live 😂 , customer cutting a corners, but that water it’s absolute dirty.. he needs power flush, otherwise that other radiator it’s going to get poisoned… it’s not ideal for a longer run ..

Haven't seen plumber playing with torch copper and solder shtt for 30years... who use such an old technology when market is full of new poly insulated technologies...

Sorry but just think this is lazy and better hope is doesn’t go wrong or you’ll be very wet. I’ve learnt my lesson the hard way with this; take the time and drain the system. I’m sure your customer won’t appreciate water pouring through the ceiling!
