Cutting rots off Desert Roses, Adenium

Slightly devastated. I have been moving in the middle of winter and took a while to get the greenhouse up. Plants were somewhat neglected. The majority was just stored in the garage for a while. If I was smart, I would have simply uprooted these Adenium and let them dry out and replant next spring. But I didn't. So they rotted. It went pretty high up in the caudex so I decided to simply do a flat cut until there were no more rots left. Leaves were removed to reduce water loss through transpiration. They were treated with powder fungicide and will be left alone for the next couple of weeks to allow the wounds to dry and callus over.
If they survive, I can see some interesting root flare development. But will see. It is what it is. Desert roses and I have a love-hate relationship.

BUMMER! Hope they will recover in time. I have a similar problem with some of my Ficus retusa. Within 3 days, several got their leaves drying out and turning brown. These were all purchased plants from last year, from the same dealer. However cuttings I took from them are doing just fine and growing. Maybe as disease in that batch of imports, that shows now

Most likely just a change of temperature or lighting. What sold on the market as Ficus retusa is usually actually Ficus microcarpa 'Tiger Bark'. They are extremely resilient but can shed leaves with changes in environment or weather. Make sure to adjust your care and water accordingly.

@@VicTheFigGuy Don't know why I wrote retusa as I know and are in my database as microcarpa. I have the tiger bark and the plain one which has a different bark texture and two or three other varieties, I found in the Garden Center. We'll see if they come back. I f not, I have enough trees to work with. I also grow several Podocarpus and other tropical and subtropical species, including the Aleppo pine now. Next to my orchids, I'm starting to do more bonsai videos on my channel in the future.
