Cutting shulk was a bad mistake in my opinion he is more deserving to be brought back than getting cut Also whoever says no, go bother someone else you entitled Nintendo boomers and accept the fact that Xenoblade is a mainstay series
It's kind of hard for me to take a cut roster for Smash 6 seriously when deciding on who's likely gonna come back if Shulk and Xenoblade get removed. Xenoblade is an ongoing major IP for Nintendo now, and has been pushed pretty hard throughout the entire Switch era. It's very doubtful they'd want to remove Shulk and Xenoblade from the roster. Usually when Xenoblade is removed it's from older fans that don't seem to realize this, or they just don't like the series being active or something. I'm not referring to Balakay with his video though since this was more of a thought experiment and a Melee sized roster is very limiting
As someone who hasn't played Xenoblade, but will acknowledge its impact, I'll go further. If the base roster had to be cut to 12 characters before adding any others, Shulk is part of that 12. Yep, along with Mario, Pikachu, Link, DK, etc. He is that important to Nintendo's history now in my view. If you're curious, here's my 12. Also, no duplicates of franchises. Yes, this means Puff, Luigi, Bowser, Ridley, etc. get the axe. I. Hate. This. So would anybody with a brain. Also, avoiding third parties as much as possible. Remember, this was conceived as a Nintendo crossover, so I'm trying to keep that spirit. That being said.... Mario Pikachu Link Donkey Kong Inkling Villager Shulk Marth Kirby Samus Pit Fox Yeah. I think that's....the least painful I can make it.

Excluding DLC and 3rd Party: Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Ness, Bowser, Peach, Zelda, Marth, Ganondorf, Mr. Game & Watch, Meta Knight, Pit, Wario, Ike, Olimar, Greninja, Shulk, Inkling, and Ridley If I could add more characters, I would just add or retool Lucario, Diddy Kong, Robin, Shiek, Rosalina, Pokemon Trainer (or at least Charizard), King Dedede, and Palutena as DLC if I could and give them more interesting attack and abilities. They are all important and popular characters in their respective franchises and have unique tools for Smash Bros that can be developed and grow)
Bro I'm only 2 minutes in and I love the effort your putting in! Also, this is a really good roster! The only Changes I would make is have Wolf be a 2nd echo for Fox. And replace Wario with Ryu, you already have 3 Mario characters, 4 if you include the Donkey, And Ryu being in the 3nd most sold fighting games behind Smash and mortal kombat. Steve nerfs I want. Combos... Keep them. Like he is not the only one and they are so cool. So I'll try to touch this part the least. Blocks should break twice as fast when not standing on them, when placed 3 blocks above the ground and 2 blocks above platforms. Exactly like how they do above the void. You cannot mine ressources when standing on thoses platforms. This will prevent over abuse from steeves that keep platforms up here and jump from one another to camp. Make their ressources dwindle faster. In additions to the previous recovery rules. Using a recovery special above the void will always result in going through the blocks if you last hit them. But up specials do twice the amount of damage to them. In addition up specials that don't do damage are only slowed by colliding with the blocks and will break them even from the side but not as fast from bellow. And teleport go right through. Want to keep the anti recovery aspect. But it's just too good on specific recoveries. You should stand on your blocks and use moves if you want to prevent recoveries. Dirt should be 2%, wood 5%, stone 15% and iron 20%. In addition. Any move that break a block will not suffer any hit lag or momentum stop. Except iron. If you break iron with a dash atta k you stop like it does currently. But the other you would go right through when you last hit You mostly use weaker material. Wich is strong but is too easy to camp behind. Not every fighter has moving moves tho. That's why most large hit boxes should break them in one hit. The trade of is that's Steve get better block on harder to mine stage. Iron have privilege since Steve isn't good on iron stages. And will be worst with my next change. So might as well give him. A small advantage. Diamonds will always pop on the same slot whatever the material. This will make iron stages much slower to get diamond. But will also prevent getting 2 diamond really fast from going from a earlier iron diamond slot to a later stone diamond slot. People actualy use this strat on some stages. Mining stone faster. Going for the first iron diamond on the exact ressource slot with a diamond. Then going back to stone and getting a second diamond in 10 more mining. This is cool. But considering how you would be able to hoard diamond easily and not care to use one on your first stock. Heee. It's a bit too janky to my liking. Minecart should have a longer but set hit stun. At higher percent you shouldn't just die. A projectile that grab is already good enouth. Get stuck 1 sec every time and that's it. As a new move and to lessn the impact of some old ones. I would like if the crafting table had a wheel here you could choose what to craft. Press b one and you craft tools. Hold b and the 2 side define what side b you craft. And up and down is the 2 down B you can use. Side would be Minecart and bow. Down would be TNT and Crafting a bow require a lot of basic items. But let you use it for free as long as you don't come back to Minecart. Holding the button let you charge the projectile. And you can aim up and down. The projectile is quite strong. Nothing crazy tho. But has a lot of gravity. To shoot someone straight forward you will need to aim a bit up. Even at max charge. Steve does it for you. But that's just to keep the arrow fairly straight as long as possible. Not an aim bot if your opponent is slightly too far or not in front of you you are gonna need to aim. Can randomly get a cross bow. Same deal but longer time to charge, and can only shoot once charged to the max. Once charged it stay charge until next use. Kinda like Robin's tome. Crafting minecraft will pump all your iron but 2, with a minimum of 1 and a cap of 4. And give you the same amount of minecarts. Rails cost more basic ressources tho. Including gold form boosted rails. TNT still take ressources at the moment of placement. No changes. Beacon cost one diamond to craft. And you can only place it one time. Random effect for 20 sec. Jump boost, speed, 15% damage réduction, 1% régénération every sec, haste (faster mining), I think there is one more effect. But in any case I'm avoiding the damage boost effect. We could also do that for the up special. But pearls don't seem to be a better deal than up special. And I think having multiple items on side special you can scroll to would be even more confusing. And nobody would pick pearls above bow or Minecart.

While I agree that Yoshi & Jigglypuff aren't NECESSARY, I just don't think I would cut any of the OG 12.. It would just be too weird that they've been in every game since the start, and now all of a sudden in the 6TH installment, they're gone... IMO, I would probably get rid of Steve and Wario and bring those OGs back... But cool video man :)
I think there’s an argument to be made that you should swap Ridley for hero, mainly because of how big dragon quest is in Japan and how much Nintendo has helped with dragon quest in Japan

I agree with your call for Steve. -I am surprised/disappointed you did not mention giving Ganondorf a moveset canonical to Ocarina of Time when you are aware of updating Sonic’s kit (same for Samus, Donkey Kong, Mario, and Luigi). Then just make Black Shadow an echo for Falcon. -what is the point of adding Wario if Waluigi is not also there? Now we still don’t get to do the Mario & Luigi vs Wario & Waluigi fight; I would have filled this slot with Snake because his series is iconic and he reps the tactical military genre. -Marth and Roy are too basic, I would have put in Robin because of the much more unique moveset and Awakening saved the series. -Isn’t Isabelle’s moveset different from Villagers’? I’d have chosen her. -I would swap squirrel and ivysaur with Blastoise and Venusaur because that would be so cool to have all three of those legends. I would also put in Raichu (superior in design, speed, power, and abilities) and have Pikachu and Pichu just be skins. -Mr. G & W is a great choice though I think Duck Hunt deserves it more partly because of moveset uniqueness and I’d give them a Banjo & Kazooie color swap as consolation for the fans sad about the bear and bird did not making it.
This video had nothing to do with adding characters so throwing Ganon’s moveset on a brand new Falcon clone wouldn’t be a reasonable talking point. Same point for Waluigi. If we’re only keeping one FE character, it’s Marth. He is very much treated as the series mascot. That said I would argue only having one (two counting echoes) FE rep would be horribly underrepresenting the series, anyways. Isabelle’s moveset is different from Villager, but not *THAT* different. Kinda in the same leage with making Luigi and echo. Pokemon only repping Gen 1 (2 with echo) is my least favorite argument in this video. But also Squirtle and Ivysaur were picked for a reason, namely that it gave you more reasons to swap out. If they’re all heavy that removes one of Zard’s biggest strengths from the trio. Wouldn’t suggest it. Duck Hunt already has a Banjo and Kazooie pallet swap and you cannot convince me otherwise.
Oh yeah you’re right Duck Hunt does have a B&K skin I forgot. My reasoning for Black Shadow is because adding him would take almost zero development time aside from some quick voice acting changes and adding his skins to current Ganondorf. Your argument in favor of keeping Squirtle and Ivysaur makes sense, it’s just that, man, Blastoise and Venusaur in Smash would be SO cool.
While I do disagree with some of your picks I can understand the great majority and respect them, the only one that feels out of place is Roy for Marth's echo over any of the Awakening characters. I'd make Chrom the Marth echo (although Lucina probably makes more sense then all the others since she IS Marth's closest Echo Fighter).
@@gorillagamer6621 while I agree, that is another exemple of melee bias, and a weak exemple at that. Roy isn't close to the most noteworthy character (not in melee and not in FE). Awakening is problably the most important Fire Emblem game, as many people credit it with saving the franchise. I think having Marth as a representative of the older Fire Emblem games and representing the original Fire Emblem rep in smash and another character that represents Awakening (one of the, if not the, most important FE game) and the newer FE games makes more sense then keeping Roy for basically "legacy in Smash" when Roy doesn't even have that much of a legacy by itself compared to other Smash veterans.

Classic Kirby for Kirbys echo fighter (because its Kirby) and Galacta Knight with Morpho Knight as a alt and his final smash would be very unique even if it is Morpho Knight which is my thought of idea
I think its pretty reasonable to put Mario and Gaming's Icons over a Byleth or another character like that, it's like complaining that a Marvel game had the main Avengers cast over something like Howard the duck
14:43 problems here Complaining about Miis is cringe. Villager is HARDLY customizable and you have to unlock more customize options. Why are you complaining about Miis taking up only THREE slots, when echo fighters and fire emblem characters exist. Plus that's not going to stop them from adding more characters.
Being honest, as much as Wario has his own games and I honestly like him, and with him having the same "issue" of Donkey Kong as being a Mario adjacent franchise, as well as Luigi and Daisy as Echos, it makes this game feel like there are an over saturation of Mario characters. Sora, Bayoneta, Snake, Duck Hunt, Pit, Shulk or Joker, just to name a few, would feel like better picks. And even without picking a franchise that you didn't pick, I would pick a 3rd Pokemon character (Lucario or Greninja for a non Gen 1 rep) or a 2nd Fire Emblem Character (Robin if you wanto to be safe, or Byleth if you want to get controversial) over Wario on a roster of this size.
I'd replace Steve and Pac Man with Olimar and Shulk. From an objective perspective those two are really big representatives of some of Nintendos biggest ongoing franchises and them not being included really wouldn't feel right. (And if I had my way I'd cut Cloud for Pit and keep Sonic as the only 3rd party because of how important he is to the history of Nintendo even as an outsider, though I do recognize Pit isn't even remotely close to Cloud in terms of fame or significance).
I’m surprised you didn’t bring back Olimar and Shulk, since they are the first protagonists and main mascots for their major, ongoing Nintendo series. But this roster was tough to make with only 26 spots, and other characters were lucky to even come back as echoes or alts. I’m guessing if you did a video cutting the roster to Brawl’s numbers they would’ve returned

Whenever the new Smash is finally made, they need to completely redo everyone’s move sets. Completely change most moves and for other moves you can just update them with new animations and effects and hitboxes. And no echo fighters. Just make a would-be echo fighter into a costume or skin for another character. And get rid of Captain Falcon and Starfox, unless you put them in their vehicles and they fight that way. And cut fire emblem characters down to 2. the only other franchise that has over 5 characters is Mario, but the difference is Mario is a worldwide iconic franchise, recognizable outside of videogame fandom. Fire emblem has definitely grown in popularity but not worth so many slots in Smash.
Tbh I think you did a really good job, I was honestly expecting to get really pissed, but you really did cut the roster down well. I also noticed something, by the time Brawl came around the Smash Roster already had the majority of essentials needed for a Nintendo Fighting Game so most fighters that were added after Melee were more like bonuses. I would genuinely be pretty shocked to see Cloud return. I think Square was one of the hardest 3rd parties to get characters from and it’s wild to think we got so many characters from them in the first place. Also, completely cutting Xenoblade from the roster? I just don’t see it. Though if we were only gonna get one and they were getting revealed tomorrow? I’d put money on Noah from XBC3. But let’s be real, 26 is entirely to few characters for what the series has become. There’s no way that’d go over well. Too many far-too-important characters get cut. Too many far-too-important franchises get under represented. It was always impossible to make a truly satisfying roster with so few characters after Ultimate.
You can totally have Link and Zelda with no ganondorf. Heck, you don't even need Zelda. I don't really know the criteria for characters to get cut but 3 metroid characters (even if they count as 2) seems like a lot for a franchise that sells not that well. I'm not a pokemon fan but 5 pokemons and 1 not from gen 1. Who is a clone from Pikachu. You could also cut Fox or Captain Falcon. If their relevance is smash is too big to ignore, why cut Meta Knight ? Cloud is cool and all but apparently square enix is really not funny to deal with when it concerns this character. (Black mage for smash when ? He was in some kind of Mario sport game) Dedede is cool and all but Pit is also (re)made by Sakurai, why not him ? It would represent one more franchise, with 33% of the games being good. Also just add Chrome and Ike as Marth costumes. Just fill the costumes with alternate models. I feel like some characters are clearly missing from this roster. Like megaman or Ryu. You could make one character a Mii with hundreds of costumes to reference other characters not in the roster. You do have some good points in here but I think the Zelda characters can stay because they’ve been on Nintendo since the NES, and Pokémon takes 2 slots but it’s also a massive player in games and anime so it deserves it, meta knight doesn’t really need to be here he could just be a skin, and cloud has one of the most popular jrpgs ever and is massive in gaming, pit has 2 games and has been a thing since the nes he doesn’t really fit well, I do think mega man or ryu could work for dlc but they dont really fit with the roster size, then villager can replace the miis with costumes and outfits and also represent a popular franchise
